The Perfect Day

Wake up and enjoy a hot cup of coffee or tea on the back deck or sun drenched coffee table as you take in an incredible view of the new day. You can either cook up a delicious breakfast for your group or head into town and find some brunch. Then head to the slopes to shred some snow, or grab those clubs and hit the links, or your fishing pole and test your skills as an angler on the best lakes and rivers that Vermont has to offer.

There are several wineries and breweries to tour, art galleries to browse, and local artists to support, if that is more your speed. Pair your purchases by visiting a local farm or cheese factory.

As the day moves into the evening, you can head into town to find a great restaurant or bar, then spend some time in the hot tub. If you prefer to cook, complement the food you purchased at the grocery store with fresh fruits and vegetables you selected at the local farms, and serve with your paired beverage. Remember to fill up the enclosed fire in the lounge room, it will keep the house nice and toasty! Then set up the board games or cards. For those looking to relax, serve a round of your favorite beverage as you and your group have a lovely conversation on the large outdoor deck and watch as the delightful Vermont sunset announces the conclusion of the day. Then gather around the entertainment center before a restful night’s sleep in the incredibly comfortable beds.

For the creatives, the property will provide plenty of inspiration, peace, and stress-melting relaxation to get that next great idea front in center in your brain, capture it and write it down or paint it before it is gone!

The Neighborhood

The house is located on a private and secluded 10-acre estate in the picturesque village of Peru, Vermont. Yet it is close to anything you need or wish to do: ski mountains, grocery stores, local farms, festivals, restaurants, bars, shopping, and more are a short drive away.

Manchester is a Vermont “big little town” that has many things to do. Art galleries are popular in Vermont, and if you like supporting local artists, there are plenty of places to peruse for the next item for your home. There are spas, restaurants, bars, and tiny places to window shop.

In the winter enjoy skiing at the nearby resorts of Bromley, Magic, Stratton and Okemo. Bromley Mountain, only 5 minutes away, is great for kids as well as for novice and intermediate skiers. It is so close, you can even go back home for lunch, and then back to the mountain under an hour! Two excellent cross-country skiing centers, Wild Wings and Viking Nordic, are less than 4 minutes away. There are also options for snowmobiling. If this is not enough, Manchester and its surrounding areas offer several unique and unforgettable sleigh ride experiences, including dogsledding.

In the summer enjoy numerous hiking or cycling opportunities nearby. Bromley Sun Mountain Summer Park offers family adventures for the whole day of fun including New England’s longest zipline, Vermont’s longest water-slide raft ride, America’s longest triple-track Alpine Slide, climbing walls, mini-golf and much more. There are also local farms that offer incredibly fresh produce, eggs, baked goods, and meats, all with the ethical treatment of their land and animals in mind.

The Dorset Summer Theatre Festival, Vermont Horse Show and Southern Vermont Art Center are nearby.

Luxury getaway - remote but convenient to everything!
Our family just got back from a trip that exceeded our expectations. Meredith Smith's home was even better than the photos and description promised - every amenity, comfort, and convenience was there for us. She also provided great suggestions for local activities and restaurants that enhanced our stay. Our family of parents and teens had plenty of room to spread out, and we have excellent memories of sunset dinners on the deck and hot tubbing under the stars. The location is superb. We enjoyed total privacy on ten beautifully landscaped acres, but everything we wanted to do was an easy drive away (kayaking, swimming, hiking, falcon school, horseback riding, grocery shopping, the Northshire Bookstore). The entire process felt very personalized and smooth, from check in to check out. The rental instructions were detailed and helpful, and Meredith was responsive to a few questions I had. We recommend this wonderful place for your next getaway!

Vermont Home Away from Home
We just enjoyed a wonderful week in Vermont, and in no small part because of our stay at "Mountainview". The house is well-equipped for our family of five (three kids in their twenties, my husband and I) and close to great skiing, hiking, glass-blowing, and shopping. My husband and I have been to the area before in the fall, but we'll want to make this our new base of operations for future visits every season of the year. Meredith was the most responsive host we've ever had and was an absolute delight, making us feel as though we were in our own home. We'll definitely be back!!
