Oak Island is 9 miles of a family-friendly beach vacation getaway making it the perfect place for your Family to escape “City Woes” and trade them for “Sandy Toes”.
Conveniently located between the intercostal waterway and the beach, “City Woes to Sandy Toes” is 0.8 mile to the beach on foot using a very scenic walkway. Those who prefer to drive can use NE 40th street for a convenient, direct route to one of our favorite beach accesses. Whether walking, biking or driving the most direct routes from the house lead to one of the most desirable beach strands on the island. A plethora of restaurants and shopping are just 2 miles away on E Oak Island Dr.
Plenty of tourist attractions include Southport, Bald Head Island by ferry, Fort Fisher by ferry and Wilmington. The area is rich in history and educational opportunities such as Fort Fisher Aquarium, the USS North Carolina Battleship, the Oak Island light house and Fort Caswell.

Floor plan:
“City Woes to Sandy Toes” is a two-story home with a driveway and fenced-in backyard. The first floor has the master bedroom suite with one king bed and an attached bathroom: full tub w/shower, toilet and sink. The living room has a half bathroom. There are two bedrooms on the second floor. One has a queen bed and connects to a full bathroom with a toilet, a sink and a tub w/shower. The other has a daybed with a twin mattress and a twin trundle that pulls out from below it. In all there are in total of 4 beds that accommodate up to 6 guests.

The fully equipped kitchen has most common household appliances, equipment and utensils as well as laundry nook with stacked washer and dryer. The screened-in porch off the back of the kitchen has a dining table and chairs plus a propane grill and the fenced-in backyard has a hammock!

Pets:
We allow up to two well-trained dogs (please ask if weight exceeds 40 lbs or if more than two dogs). Please inform us of your dogs at booking. The non-refundable one-time pet fee of $30 ($50 for bigger dogs) for EACH dog will be charged. Unpaid pet fee will be charged after the reservation is confirmed. Guests are responsible for supervision and removing any traces of your pets including picking up after them outside. Any extra cleaning needed will result in additional cleaning fees.

Amenities:
Linens provided, Internet, TV, Central Air Conditioning and a Full kitchen with Microwave, Electric Stove, Refrigerator, Cooking Utensils, and Keurig-style coffee maker. Washer and Dryer are in the kitchen’s rear door. We cannot monitor the amount of propane in the tanks. We encourage guests to bring a tank or refill the tanks onsite if they are empty. Our cleaning company does not clean the grill, and guests are expected to be respectful of each other and clean it after each use.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautifully appointed home. The fenced back yard was a must because we traveled with our 2 small dogs. We found everything we needed for our stay, including the screened back porch, all the appliances and cookware for cooking meals there, and all the amenities we could have wanted. We had the best weekend getaway at this cozy little house. We can’t say enough about the great neighborhood/location. We walked to the beach both days and just felt totally relaxed. They’ve thought through everything- it was very comfortable and cooking was easy! Definitely would stay here again!

Pros: pet friendly, close to the beach, access to tv subscriptions, bathrooms were very cleanCons: dishes weren’t very clean - moldy spatula in drawer, felt as if we needed to wash everything before using it. Used the bath tub for baby and the water had a green hue once it started filling the tub. Insulation coming out of the door frame on the inside of the front door. Poison oak/ivy in back yard. Back patio/screened in porch was pretty dirty feeling. We didn’t use it for this reason. Overall, I wouldn’t say this place was the best for small children. However, the dog friendliness was our big draw and a necessity for us. The host was very friendly and responsive when we had questions. I appreciated their communication greatly! Perfect Beach Getaway

You would think living ten minutes from the “Jersey Shore”, one wouldn’t drive ten plus hours to go to the beach, but this cozy cottage’s close location to the beautiful beaches of Oak Island, NC were exactly what we needed to get away from the hectic traffic of the Jersey Shore. The home’s location is a perfectly quiet little road with so little traffic, it felt good to take our dog for a walk. The neighbors stopped to chat with us like old friends, and it felt like home. The beaches were big and not crowded, and it was just pleasant to unwind from the daily grind here. We found the perfect little burger joint in Little Bit’s Grill, and enough souvenir shops to find gifts for the family. Food stores were all close and easy to find to pack lunches for the beach. And it just felt wonderful to sit back, and relax! If we ever find our way to Oak Island again, I will definitely return to City Woes to Sandy Toes!

Amazing experience

We absolutely adored Glen and Min's house on Oak Island! The house and super clean and very comfy. The kitchen is well stocked. City Woes to Sandy Toes has all the amenities and the perfect location needed for a great beach vacation! It was our first time in the area but Min sent us information on best driving and walking routes to the beach (yes you can easily walk to the beach!) so we never felt lost or like we needed to try to find anything. Something about knowing we were on an island made us all the more in tune with the beach and ocean...so relaxing! One of the days it rained but we had a great day because Min had provided information on Southport's ferry that travels to Fort Fisher and the amazing aquarium there. Our kids loved the boat ride almost as much as the aquarium! The sunny days we walked and played on the beautiful beach and returned to the cozy comfort of the house for grilling and relaxing. Grocery and ABC stores are just up the road so if you have a taste for something it is just a few minutes drive. We will certainly be back and we will recommend Glen and Min to host our friends! Well done! Five stars across the board!!
