We had an perfect stay at the Talisker apartement. The building nestled in a park on the shore of the Loch Ness is just amazing. The apartment was gorgeous and we enjoyed the beautiful pool, the tennis court, the gym... The staff was really kind and helpful. Communication really easy. We adored it! Highly recommanded.

This is an amazing space in a really cool area! Wished we could have stayed here longer to enjoy the pool. NOTE: the pool is only open from 9am-6pm and you sign up for a one hour time slot. By the time we had the option to sign in and reserve something there was nothing left that worked in our schedule. That was really the only disappointment.

Perfect setting for a highland vacation
Apartment had a unique layout but the setting of the old Abbey was magical. The amenities were plenty. We enjoyed playing croquet and snooker, but the pool closes early so we didn't make it down. All of the furniture was comfortable and kitchen supplies were adequate for cooking. It was a short walk into town and the views of loch ness were spectacular. We would feel blessed to be able to come again.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we are delighted you had a lovely holiday and took full advantage of all the activities on offer. The pool is open during the summer months until 9pm and therefore you must have stayed when we reverted to the winter opening times.

Dangerous property. Fell down the stairs both days that we stayed. They are extremely slick in the apartment. Smelled old and damp. Window in the family room would not go up so se had a draft the entire time. Photos are much better than the actual look. Very dark corridors not bright like the photos. Kind of depressing. They are a stickler about you arriving at a certain time.

This review does not reflect the reality of our property. In more than 20 years of hosting, no guest has ever fallen on the stairs in any of the properties at The Highland club to our knowledge, or raised safety concerns they are well maintained and not “extremely slick?.” Our photos are an accurate representation of the apartment, which is a bright, historic building with well-lit corridors. Had you mentioned the window during your stay, our on-site team would have resolved it immediately and will of course look into this now we are aware. We are confident that this feedback is not representative of the experience we provide, as many other reviews confirm.
It was a very spacious apartment but the building was awful and incredibly depressing.
Would not return or recommend. Not good for walking and a very unattractive building and town.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Your remarks are both frank and concise. It is always good to hear varied responses to the although this is a first comment in over 10 years from someone who cannot see beauty in this location on the shores of Loch Ness. If we all had the same opinion and preferences the world would be a dull place! I imagine anyone wishing to walk around this area will refer to an OS map and see how beautiful and varied the walks are, both from the village and the surrounding area!

A peaceful retreat with all the conforts of home (and more!)
Absolute gem of a rental unit. Large neo-gothic windows in the living room just give it a very serene feeling. Very confortable unit with all you need.
Arrival was easy and we had a tour of the property. Incredible facilities: pool, sauna, outside chess, inside billiard room, etc.
The grounds looking out on Loch Ness are pristine.
We had a small problem with the gas furnace which stopped working once or twice, but the staff were quick to respond and fix things. Small downside is that Fort Augustus is relatively far from anywhere you will want to visit in the Highlands. But I think this is true of anywhere in the Highlands as everything is 1-2 hours by car.
But in the end, I would come back to this place, and this unit, anytime.

Family holiday
Amazing place in a beautiful location. This was a family get together after a long 4 years apart and it was worth the wait,it included 3 generations and all ages and it suited all of us…especially the children. The only negative was the stairs for us oldies The boat trips were only 5 minutes away and the locks were a lovely place to relax and have a coffee. We always judge a place by asking would we return? and we all said yes!

Highland Club at Fort Augustus
Amazing campus. Beautiful little town. Plenty to eat and drink. Good base of operations to stay and take day trips from. No elevator was tough for a party of six with two 70+ year olds and luggage. Great place to stay at. Charles was extremely kind and helpful. Gave us a 30 minute tour to acquaint ourselves with the place.

Great apartment
It was a lovely apartment, all the necessities you need, however could have done with a better clean upon someone arriving (under sofas/beds). Upon saying that, I would definitely stay/recommend here again. Pool was great, kids had a fantastic time exploring the grounds.

Wonderful winter mini-break
We had an absolutely wonderful time staying at the Talisker apartment at The Highland Club. The apartment was cosy, luxurious and extremely spacious. Everything was well-kept and super-clean too.
There was plenty to do inside the Monastery itself. The children felt like they were at Hogwarts as they wandered around the corridors. The swimming pool, ping pong table, giant chess and games room were all massive hits and well-used by our family.
The little village of Fort Augustus is very well set up for tourists. Although we don't live too far from Loch Ness, it was a real treat to be staying right on the banks of the Loch and the view up the loch itself was absolutely breathtaking.
The icing on the cake, so to speak, was waking on the last morning to find a dusting of snow everywhere. Absolutely magical.
A great place to stay in a beautiful setting right on Loch Ness with shops a couple of minutes walk.

lovely apartment but owner needs to replace some items
Its a lovely apartment, but dishwasher doesn't clean very well (every thing had to be run twice). The heating turned off while we were there, and though Simon, the maintenance man, came around and fixed it, one doesn't want to be dealing with this on holiday. Similarly, the door of the washing machine was broken. It took a while to get in touch with someone....and then, after Alan explained how to door shut over the phone, the dryer function of the washing machine started giving an error code and stopped working. This was late at night, leaving us with a load of wet laundry to dry.
Also, the outside shower is blocked, causing the bathroom floor to flood. And the beds in both bedrooms are very uncomfortable, and could do with replacing.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we are delighted you enjoyed the apartment and welcome some of the comments made. We are a learning organisation and act immediately on anything that will improve customer experience.
We are sorry that you had a short interruption of heating, having spoken to the property manager the boiler pressure has become a little low and this was resolved quickly. The washing/drying machine error was due to the door of the washing machine being forced open before the the drying cycle had completed as is common with most modern quality machines. Fortunately the washing machine has not been damaged and the machine was reset quickly.
We have requested urgent inspection of the showers, although I am not sure to which you refer as we have only internal showers; perhaps you are referring to the communal shower in the swimming pool area? Although we have not had previous complaints regarding the high quality mattresses which are currently in situ, the owners regularly replace them as they understand it is essential that guests are comfortable during their stay.
Kind regards
