Luxury Retreat on Loch Ness with Wellness Facilities
St Andrew’s Chapel is one of the premium properties within a Benedictine Monastery know as The Highland Club. Conveniently located near the spa and swimming pool, it is exceptional in every way. This spacious 2 bedroom property has an abundance of original features, in particular beautiful stained glass windows depicting Scottish Saints and large stone arches that have been thoughtfully incorporated into the room design. The majestic rib vaulted ceiling and large ornate stone mullioned windows give a feeling of spaciousness and presence. The kitchen is stylish and well appointed with a large island and beautiful dining area.
The bedrooms are located on the first floor, accessed from the hall. The large galleried master bedroom with en-suite bathroom projects over the living area, allowing views of the stained glass windows and changing light throughout the day whilst still affording privacy. There is a twin bedroom on this level, which has access to a shower room on the ground floor. All rooms have been beautifully designed and tastefully furnished with great attention to detail.
This unique and beautifully furnished 2 bed apartment was formerly St Andrew's Chapel. Designed by Pugin the Chapel has elaborate gothic features, this differs from the main Abbey Church which was designed in Norman style during a later period.
The Highland Club itself is set in 20 acres of private gardens on the shores of Loch Ness. In the heart of the Highlands, this sympathetic conversion is an ideal base for exploring all that Scotland has to offer.
A Welcome Hamper is provided for 7 night stays and a small Welcome Pack for short breaks. Our property manager will meet you on arrival and show you to your accommodation. As a guest you will have access to all The Highland Club has to offer.

Once in a lifetime
This is a once in a lifetime stay- such an incredible opportunity to stay in an historic place in a beautiful town. Check in was a travesty, but once we got into the room it was worth it
The apartment was in the beautiful St Andrew’s chapel . The apartment was very spacious . It had everything you need for a comfortable stay. One bedroom is large and opens out onto the rest of the apartment . It has an en suite . The other bedroom is smaller . The other bathroom is on the first floor. There was a washer dryer . It had a clothes rack and an iron . The grounds were beautiful and right on Loch Ness. The shower in the downstairs bathroom drained slowly. The Boathouse restaurant was very good . It was central to the Highlands and we used it as our base for 5 days . Would highly recommend the apartment for a wonderful stay .
Property is fabulous and Ft Augustus was a wonderful surprise. Request to provide ssistance identifying someone to contact regarding fly fishing went unanswered two times - would prefer more interactive information prior to arrival.
The apartment is beautifully decorated. Everything seemed to be of high quality, including the beds, towels, etc. The location is excellent as you can go north or south within an hours drive to reach many sites. The property is right on the lake so it is very nice to just sit and relax there. our only issue was with the man who checked us in and was supposed to show us the appliances, etc. in the apartment. He seemed in a rush to do this as quickly as possible, and was not terribly thorough. Because of this, we were unable to use the stove for two days, until we requested another staff person to come and show us how to use it. Secondly, it would be nice to have a few extra supplies on hand such as garbage bags and toilet paper, which there was none when we arrived. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the apartment, especially for adults.

Dear Janice,
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the comfort and style of the property.
We do understand that every guest arrives with different expectations, so we'd like to gently clarify a few points for future reference. The property is self catering and privately owned, and as such the owner provides a thoughtful selection of essentials to get you started, rather than a hotel - style provisioning. The local property manager is there to personally welcome guests and show them in but there is no reception (unlike a hotel), it's important that guests read the arrival instructions carefully to ensure a smooth and timely check-in. Kind regards Joanne

St Andrews Chapel Fort Augustus
A unique and very comfortable apartment in what we hadn't realised was a very large complex but you hardly saw many other people. Plenty of activities on site including tennis, badminton, table tennis and snooker to mention a few with an efficient booking system which worked well. Lovely pool but is on the small side but steam room and sauna also. The Abbey is uniquely placed near the Loch and the Caledonian Canal with lots of activities available locally including golf and cycling with some water sports. We really enjoyed our stay, had a fabulous time and hope to return soon The staff from the Highland Club were welcoming, friendly and very helpful.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are delighted you had a lovely holiday and enjoyed the abundance of on-site activities which are included in the cost of your holiday. It is a large site and sometimes it is difficult to understand the layout prior to arrival. There is a useful map on our homepage www.highlandclubdirect.com which is interactive and displays all the activities. The swimming pool is located in a historic area of the Monastery which has restrictions on space but is compensated by the beautiful location. We carefully manage this area to avoid the area feeling over crowed for guests.
We hope you will take advantage of our repeat guest discount and visit us again soon.

This property is as wonderful as it seems in the photos. The property manager, Mike met us as we drove up. He gave us a tour of the property and was helpful throughout our stay.
The Chapel rental was all light up on our arrival and absolutely gorgeous. We appreciated the provisions provided. The beds are on the firm side but Mike provided us with a pillow topper. We enjoyed the swimming in the heated pool, playing ping pong and wandering the Abbey. The town is a short walk away, along with boating activities. We enjoyed dining several times at The Boat House restaurant. Would suggest dinner reservations, especially on the weekends. We would highly recommend staying at this very unique property.

Fort Augustus was great and we enjoyed a couple of meals and walking around.
The Highlands Club was much more impressive than we understood and we also wished we had planned more time on property. The view of Loch Ness alone was mesmerizing.
Our particular apartment was in the Abbey with incredible architecture and stained glass windows. The apartment had everything including an incredible kitchen and dining area. We knew from the pictures that the decor was pretty specific. Furnishings including the beds were getting old and in need of upgrade.
Overall, Fort Augustus and the Highland Club are very positive long term memories for our family.

Stunning Stay
I was extremely happy to be able to book this property again. Very well appointed and clean, anything you may need is just a phone call away. It ticks all the boxes, especially location. The one downside is booking, there are way too many entities involved. When you look up Highland Club you may or most likely may not be booking with the actual Highland Club, and I think that causes quite a bit of confusion as witnessed by other people trying to check in. Also, the Highland Club is managed by a few different companies which is also confusing. I don't remember having such an issue last time we booked a few years back.
Our stay was blissful, you cannot beat the location if you explore by foot or car. There is a ton of local information available, many activities in the Highland Club itself. We were able to catch the Highland Games just a fifteen-minute drive away.

No one from management ever talked to us, maintenance man was of no help whatsoever. I had to reset hot water tank twice each day every day just to have heat and water. The electric curtains did not work and haven’t worked for 6 months according to maintenance man.. The sauna and steam room did not work, other than that the place was beautiful.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are pleased you enjoyed the location at The Highland Club. We thank you for your considered and frank comments regarding the apartment. Good reviews are always uplifting as it means we are doing things right however more important is your feedback when we have not met customer expectations. It is important to point out that The Highland Club is a collection of privately owned properties with a property manger in place. In the apartment itself there is a welcome book with contact details for the allocated property manager. The management team are on hand during the arrival process and during your holiday and can if asked attend to any maintenance issues. In response to the hot water issue there is no hot water boiler in this property and therefore you may be referring to the combo boiler in the cloakroom which under normal circumstances should not be adjusted. We are sorry that you did not telephone or email the property manager as this was a simple fix as the pressure was low. This was checked immediately after your departure as you kindly left a note on the contact form, its a great pity you had not called or emailed the management team as this could have been easily remedied. Regarding the electric blinds these are in working order but on inspection were switched off at the main socket.
Currently the sauna is not working as the glass window has been broken and we are awaiting a part from Germany, however there is no issue with the steam room.
Thank you for raising all your comments, we rely on customer feedback to improve our service. The welcome book in each property is an invaluble tool for guests and they should never feel inhibited about contacting the property manager if they have an issue with their property. The managers are always on hand to help, if the problem is not within their capability they will contact a relevant trades person at the earliest opportunity.

Our family of 4 had a 24 night stay. Overall a good stay, and normally would not comment on these shortcomings but at the price point it is worth noting. The layout of the unit is odd. The master bedroom is not enclosed and really no noise barrier between the rest of the apartment. We had an early riser in our group which made sleeping in the morning hard. The bedrooms are separated from the apartment by closing fireproof doors which took a lot of charm away. Unit has some wear and tear that could easily be fixed. The kitchen is not very well equipped which made cooking difficult. The oven is impossible to use and gave my wife fits every time she attempted it. The shared amenities (pool, tennis, gym) need to be booked and seem to fill up at the time you need them. The pool had a charge of 5 pound per person after 5 which is really disappointing. The stain-glass windows are a nice touch, but we lost reality with the weather because we could not see out, and generally makes the space dark. All that said, there are many great things too about the unit and we are glad we stayed here, but would not come again.
Conforme à mes attentes sauf pour la literie qui n est pas du tout King size ... la literie des 2 chambres n est vraiment pas confortable

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. The bedrooms are both double beds one king size and one double. The mattresses were purchased from a hotel supplier and we have not had any previous complaints regarding comfort. It is difficult to satisfy everyone as there are so many bed requirements regarding this matter.
We hope you will visit again and take advantage of our repeat guest discount.
