We are located beachfront on the Delaware Bay in amazing Prime Hook Beach. We are a little north of Lewes and Rehoboth. The cottage is a comfortably furnished, relaxing, 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath home that sleeps 8 people. The home has amazing water views from almost every room. Two bedrooms have a queen sized bed, dresser and closet. The third bedroom is a much larger family sleeping room with a queen bed, 2 twin beds and a very comfortable couch that converts into a queen sized bed. There is a pac-n-play available. The area is perfect for nature enthusiasts with so much nature all around. This is the perfect place to hike, bike, fish, kayak or just enjoy the very quiet, mostly private beach right out your back door. (There are two kayaks at the house - a single and a double as well as two stand up paddleboards). The beach on the Delaware Bay is generally much calmer than the ocean beaches a little south. If you are looking for more intense waves the beaches of Cape Henlopen and Rehoboth are about a 25-30 minute drive. The restaurants/bars of Rehoboth, Lewes, Milton and Milford are close by as are the Rehoboth boardwalk and outlet shops. Golf, charter fishing and water sports available in several close locations. Several restaurants, a library, a theater, grocery store, liquor store and some other closer shops are available in the nearby town of Milton- approximately 8 miles away. This home has been a very popular rental with excellent reviews (The Yellow Cottage) and is now under new ownership. *We did add an outdoor flood light/security camera at the front of the house which covers the parking area to the street. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Family Vacation

This was our second year in a row staying here. You can’t beat the location, right on the beach! Also the beach doesn’t get crowded at all and being on the bay the water is calmer which is great for our 4 and 2 year olds. Definitely thinking of staying there again next summer.

A nice well kept older home on a remote beach location. We weren’t sure what to expect with the horseshoe crabs but you could still enjoy the beach.

Refuge hideaway

A great, clean cottage nestled in the Prime Hook Refuge right on the beach. We loved driving Prime Hook beach road enjoying the scenery and birds. Beautiful views from the living room and large deck! Easy access to local attractions. We can’t wait to come back!

Private beach with a great view

We love this house! We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the laughing gulls. Everything was clean and the house is well stocked with extras. A perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying the quiet reserve. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets! We’ll be back again!

Everything about the house was great! The house was clean and the view of the bay was great. Communication from the hosts on the day of arrival was perfect. The mosquitoes were terrible. Bring plenty of insect repellent.

Girls beach break

We loved our stay here. To be able to walk out to the beach was awesome. The house was really well equipped especially with all the beach fun things. We took the kayaks out and had a chance to ride bikes around the neighborhood. Because the beach is in a private area it was so quiet and peaceful. We would definitely stay again.

A true vacation!

This might be my favorite getaway yet. This house is truly a home. It is perfect for small children, has a fully stocked kitchen, on a quiet dead end street, and you cannot beat the views on the deck! We enjoyed the beach with all the horseshoe crabs and birds, riding bikes, jigsaw puzzles and cooking all our food at home. Grateful for a relaxing vacation with dear friends!

Perfect location - gorgeous view!

This cottage makes the most of its spectacular bay view! Whether you're inside the living/dining area or on the porch you are surrounded by water. I woke up early just to watch the sunrise each morning. The kitchen is also nicely stocked with everything you need to avoid eating out 24/7, which made staying in a quiet, secluded neighborhood even easier. We also enjoyed all the bird watching the nature preserve provided. Thanks so much - I definitely plan to visit again!

nice little getaway

Enjoyed our stay & all the amenities that came with it. Stand up paddleboard was loved by our oldest son & one of our daughter-in-laws. He did really well. I myself didn't do so well. But it was fun trying. Everything you need to enjoy your stay at the yellow cottage. Had a few flies, but the fly/ salt gun was a big hit. Who would have thought. Loved the kayaks. And also took a bike ride while there. Only drawback I can think of is, maybe getting a door for the back bedroom. Otherwise, everyone had really good things to say about the beach & everything you guys had there for us, Thanks again for everything. & great communication.

Fabulous Property

I cannot say enough good about this property. The owners checked on me the second day to make sure I got in and if I needed anything. They left a gift bag with a bottle of wine, a note card and other goodies. The property feels like home and all you need to bring is your clothes, groceries and you because they have everything else. They provide everything in the kitchen from spices to baking ingredients, towels, sheets, extra blankets, pillows and comforters, bathroom supplies, first aid kit, bikes and everything you need to have fun in the water. The best part of the property is the deck where I sat everyday listening to the waves. Being right on the beach is an amazing experience to take in the birds, fish jumping out of the water and one morning I could see dolphins. I only left one evening to go out to dinner. If you need to relax and rejuvenate, this is the place for you. I will be returning often.

The stay was absolutely perfect. The second we walked in and saw the view of the water from the porch and house windows we booked our next family trip. There is tons of stuff to occupy your time without having to bring it with you. The private beach was perfect and the hummingbirds and crabs were fun to watch! The hosts even thought of my son and left a small gift for his first birthday!

Nice location. You can step right on the beach from the back porch. Very nice acomidations including all extras included to do things. I was able to take my granddaughter on he first kayak in the ocean. We played ping pong. We had good surf fishing right in front of the house. Decent crabing close by. The house was very spacious and had wonderful views. We recommend this rental for wonderful family vacations.

A Well Loved Cottage

Spent a week at the “Yellow Cottage” during 2025 HEATWAVE last week in June. Enjoyed its charm, comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen, and OF COURSE - the VIEW! Hosts were very attentive. We enjoyed the deck when there was a breeze, but as senior citizens - spent many a hot day looking out at the view from inside. The Air conditioner had a tough time keeping up with the heat, but the ceiling fans helped keep things cool. We began every day with watching the sunrise and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Million dollar view

The property has some quirks and could use some updating. Ultimately it served are needs and there were all sorts of great things on site like kayaks. The view is what makes the property. There is nothing like watching the sun rise over the beach with your coffee. We had a great time and would recommend this place for a getaway.

Perfect location, dream house

This beach house has everything you could possibly want or need for a perfect beach getaway! It’s stocked with tons of games, puzzles, and toys for the kids, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The location is unbeatable—literally just steps from the beach. We've stayed here twice now and will definitely be back again to make even more family memories. Highly recommend!

Lovely Getaway

What a lovely stay we had here. We stayed with several young children and it was ideal for beach access / ease of use. Right on the beach, easily visualized kids at all times. The home is well appointed with basics and lots of kid / family extras like games and puzzles and some toys. Owners were quick to respond and helpful. We can’t wait to come back!

Why they chose this property

My husband and I both grew up visiting the Maryland and Delaware shore for vacations. We have some of our best memories from those visits. I love hiking, bird watching, nature photography and everything related to the bay and ocean. My husband enjoys fishing, kayaking, walking the beach and bird watching as well. We both have a great love of beach cottages and coffee hour/cocktail hour on the water.

What makes this property unique

Prime Hook Beach is very quiet with an abundance of nature around while still being within 15-20 minutes of great restaurants, outlets and whatever activities you normally enjoy when you go to the beach. The sunrise/sunsets in Prime Hook are amazing and the bay water is much calmer than the ocean and great for smaller kids.
