8 Bedroom 6.5 Bath Oceanfront OBX Home & Private Pool - Private KDH Beach Access

Enjoy the 'Wright House,' an oceanfront vacation rental on the Outer Banks in Kill Devil Hills, NC. This oceanfront rental is as close to the beach as they would let us build! It will accommodate up to 18 persons (this includes children in the count) for your Outer Banks vacation. This rental is smoke free and pets are not allowed onsite. We have been happy to host many family vacations (many still returning) and many weddings at the Wright House since it was built.

On the first floor you will find the perfect bedroom for the kids. This bedroom has bunk beds along both walls. There is another bedroom perfect for grandparents on the same floor with 1 queen bed. There is 1 full bath located on this floor. The game room with pool table is located on the 1st floor along with a wet bar (full-sized refrigerator and microwave), sofa and TV. A half bath is located off the game room which also leads outdoors to the pool and grill area.

On the 2nd floor you will find the deck with the hot tub. 2 of the most popular bedrooms are found here. They are 2 oceanfront, master sized bedrooms with 1 king bed in each. Located off one of these bedrooms is our private 'handicap' friendly bath with sliding glass doors. The bedroom with 2 twin beds is also found on this floor as well as 2 other bedrooms with a queen bed in each bedroom. This floor is also where the washer/dryer is located. A full bath is located in the hallway.

The 3rd floor of the Wright House features the master suite with master bath with a king bed. It features a view of the Wright Brothers Memorial. The master bath feature a jacuzzi bath, shower, his/her sinks, and a side view of the ocean. The remainder of the floor is an open floor plan featuring the: kitchen, Great Room, and dining room area. There is also a half bath located on this floor. The kitchen area features: large sized refrigerator, 2 dishwashers, 2 microwaves, 2 stove/ovens, coffeemaker, dinnerware, silverware, and cookware.

There is a gas fireplace located in the Great Room area which has fabulous ocean views. There is seating for 18 at our 2 dining tables. Along the side wall there is a small bar sink with ice maker as well.

This rental features an outdoor pool (open seasonally), gas grill, and dune top deck. Free wireless internet, pack-in-play and high chair are also provided. Enjoy use of the local YMCA with passes available at our front desk next door (available on a first-come, first serve basis--must be checked out daily).

This rental rents Sunday to Sunday during the warmer months. Less than a week stay may be available prior to Memorial Day and starting in the fall. Please call or e-mail for more info for either a week or less than a week's stay.

Everyone in the party must be 21 years of age or older to occupy the Wright House unless this is a family unit.**

It was off-season so the pool was closed. Definitely enjoyed the hot tub. Big beautiful house with lots of rooms and beds. Everyone enjoyed themselves a lot. Hope to come back and use this beach house again someday.

Wonderful Week in Kill Devil Hills

We had an amazing time during our stay at the Wright House. the house is beautiful and big and AMAZING views. We had 18 people and plenty of space. The kids had a whole downstairs area to spend time together and just a great big house that has very close access to the ocean with nothing blocking the beautiful views. Only negatives is no garbage disposal and there is a beach access next to the house, but that really didn't bother us at all. Gorgeous house & close to everything.

Wright House-needs some lovin'

The location of this house is great- the weather was perfect but the house needs some TLC. Multiple home repairs are in order. We called and they removed two broken shower doors with mold growing behind one of them. The master bed frame was propped up on 2x4's, the outdoor shower had a broken handle and we had one pan in the kitchen. Maintenance did respond with immediate needs and they did a great job; however--not what we expected--regardless of what is paid. So many more repairs needed; sliding doors hard to open, doors that don't lock; windows that don't shut. This house just needs attention. Highly recommend the owner/manager make a visit. We have been traveling to the outer banks for over 20+ years and this house was not worth what we paid. A full or partial refund is requested.

Great Vacation Home!

We had a great vacation!! The house is perfect for a large group. Ample space and very comfortable! The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we need! The only downfall about the house is the location. It is in between 2 hotels and a beach access so the beach is a lot more crowded than what we are used to. We just had to plan to get up early and get our spot on the beach. Even with the beach being crowded we still think we would rent this property again!!

Nice layout & Beachfront!!

Perfect space for our group of family & friends! Beautiful views and downstairs living, game room was perfect for the kids & teens 🎉 The house was larger then it looked in the pictures, plenty of space in the bedrooms as well. The one “master” on the second floor is more of a Jack and Jill bath with the next bedroom but there is also a full bath in the hallway so the door could stay locked to provide full privacy. Over all the home was clean and well stocked, there was one bed overlooked but we washed the bedding and it was all good! We had a wonderful time, Thank you!☀️🌊

Wright House

The home was very big and roomy. The cable didn’t work for 2 days and the Family Room TV and Master Suite TV did not have working remotes for our entire stay. The management contacted the cable company and they come out to fix the majority of the issues. However, the management company came unannounced to this home several times, letting themselves in with their keys. This was unnerving to all family members. We found 3 roaches during our stay and we reported it when we left, but was told they are water bugs. Overall, the location of the house was great and there was plenty of room for all. We celebrated Thanksgiving here and had a nice time.

Wedding/Reunion Best Choice!!!

We stayed here for a week with a small group of family and friends then more came in Thursday and Friday for a wedding on Friday evening. They had no qualms with us having a couple of dinners at the house for the whole group and the Days Inn next door (which manages the property) even let us park our overflow there. Another word about the Days Inn, having them next door as the go to made issues that pop up so EASY. Our wi-fi was acting up one morning and someone was right over to look at it. (turned out to be a problem with the DSL that was resolved before the guy got there) On our second to last morning one of the coffee pots died. I walked over, reported it, walked back went to my room for something and came out to being told "Someone just brought over a coffee pot." That's service! The house itself... Just look at the pictures. Every room was great. The master suite was fantastic. No neighbors. NO NEIGHBORS!!!! I had to find a place completely online from Phoenix, AZ so I looked at pictures, satellite imagery, reviews... anything I could get my hands on. Almost every place I looked at for this size, with these amenities and in this price range were all right on top of one another. This place has NO NEIGHBORS! And the public access next door wasn't a problem at all either. I had visions of John Candy eating breakfast in the movie Summer Rental with everyone looking in and asking to use his bathroom but we had nary a problem all week. I don't know when we will be back to the Outer Banks or with how many people but if the needs and circumstance ever are the same we would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The Jameson Family of Maryland (and one member from SC) stayed here nearly a year ago and the house was perfect. Everything was just as advertised; everything worked; and the house was as clean in mid-August as it would have been on opening day! The elevator was a blessing for my parents, the salt-water pool was heaven and the rental and maintenance personnel were great!

We are not run by a realty company but also own and operate hotels as well as other cottage rentals here. So unlike realty companies where it may take a few days to get something fixed, if for some reason something was to occur needing maintenance we are able to have it fixed asap because we are onsite daily at our adjacent properties.

Please note, in the google maps satellite image--the image was taken before the house was built in 2003 so the house is located in the empty lot which is to the north of the marker.
