About this property

Annie's Cottage, Quiet Getaway, Peaceful Waterfall

This 1908 cottage, rebuilt in 2005 after fire destroyed the top floor, is a cozy getaway nestled in the coastal town where Annie's grandfather was, long ago, the Mayor and mill worker on the bay. It's the perfect spot for the family vacation, writer's/artist's hangout or business trip.

From Annie's Cottage, the beach is as close as a few blocks or a short drive to the active fishing village of Charleston and the business meeting is less than a 15 minute drive no matter which direction you go in Coos Bay or North Bend, yet you have the feeling the moment you step out of the car and stroll up the stone path and hear the soothing sound of the water fall, that all the tensions of your active every day life are just no where to be found.

A day playing in the sand dunes or at the beach or taking a hike along the coast is perfectly ended by a soak in the jacuzzi tub and then lean back in the recliner overlooking the bay to watch the sunset and the occasional ship go by. Our non commercial, relaxing, authentic little town will invite you back again and again to forget there ever was a freeway, a long line to stand in or a phone ringing off the hook.

Great location to explore southern OR coast. Particularly enjoyed the upstairs bedroom, sitting area & bath. Felt much larger than expected. The kitchen was well stocked with good quality utensils making meal prep easy. Very responsive owners.

Relaxing One Nighter

We took a jacuzzi bath & then watched a Fred Astaire & Audrey Hepburn video on a cozy couch. Bed was comfy & good towels. We had our morning coffee upstairs in the recliners watching many robins in a tree. Be sure to read the paperwork sent as we did NOT hence we got confused of where to park & enter. The house was very clean but the tub needed a good wipe down. Overall a wonderful stay! Thank you, Annie

Cozy cottage

My husband and I got to spend five nights at Annie's Cottage in May ~ it is so convenient to Coos Bay and Bandon. Although it rained buckets for three days, we really enjoyed sitting upstairs in the morning with our coffee and watch the ships in the bay. We hope to return at a time when the weather will allow us to sit by the beautiful water feature.

Comfortable!!

This was a lovely home. The amenities were above average, it was very quiet, close to everything a visitor could want for the area. The grounds were peaceful and relaxing. The pond and water sounds were so such a nice touch. The hosts were available for questions. We had a very nice stay, I would recommend this home to anyone coming to this area.

GEM

We are discerning quests where we stay and we give Annie's Cottage "two thumbs up!" The cottage is cute and has everything you need. There was only two of us so there was PLENTY of room, many places to sit and many, many nice touches by the hosts. Annie and Paul were extremely easy to communicate with. If we are in the area next year for a reunion with our friends we will most certainly stay at the Cottage.

Sweet cottage

My husband and I stayed on a trip up the coast back to Portland from the CA redwoods and we adored this little house! I wish we would have had another day there. All the touches were warm and welcoming and the chocolate from Cranberry sweets was so good we stopped there for treats to take back to friends on the way out of town. The little coffee place around the corner was great and the sushi place down the block (Tokyo Bistro?) was fantastic! We loved winding down with some popcorn and a movie after dinner. This was our landing spot after four nights of camping. The bedroom and bathroom were luxurious and comfortable, and the natural bath products were great! This is a great place to stay, close to the wonderful Shore Acres State Park, and I hope we have a chance to return some day soon! Thank you!

Unpleasant

After checking in we sent an email to both Annie & Paul letting them no we were not staying at the cottage and that it will not need to be cleaned. The pictures for this rental need to be updated as they do not represent the condition of the property. There were ants all over the kitchen on the counters, in the sink on the walls and in the window sills. The bathroom windows had mold and the overall experience was not acceptable. We did not get a response back to our email letting them know that the property needs to be cleaned. We wished them a Happy Thanksgiving and had to go get a hotel. Hopefully they will do something on their end to make it right. Janet & Dan

Weekend Getaway

Annie's Cottage is a cute little house. It is cutely decorated and cery clean. It is not far out of the way and is only about 12 minutes to downtown. I would definitely recommend this place to any friend thinking of coming down to the Coos Bay area.

About the host

Hosted by Annie Comfort

Host profile image
Paul and Annie Comfort share a love for this little, authentic coastal community. Each have deep roots in the community and have participated in local theater and music. Paul bought the home that is now Annie's Cottage over 20 years ago with hopes of entertaining friends there. A bachelor for many years, he was a customer of Annie's when she was a sales clerk in the 1970's & 80's at a local Radio Shack. He worked in marine electronics in the nearby fishing village of Charleston and later was the technical director at a local theater. Annie moved away after college and, after the death of her first husband, returned to Coos Bay where they met again and fell in love after working on a music project together. After fire destroyed the top floor of the Cottage, they were wed and rebuilt the Cottage in 2004 with the dream of sharing it with people just like them who just need a peaceful getaway from time to time.

Why they chose this property

We've always loved the Oregon coast, and the Coos Bay area is full of unspoiled beauty. The non-commercialized beaches, dunes and forests are exquisite. The air is fresh and clean, and the temperatures are always moderate.

What makes this property unique

From the minute you begin your walk up the path to the front door, there is a peace about the Cottage. It is a resting place, a place to truly kick back and take it easy. From the easy chairs overlooking the bay on the top floor, you can watch ships and fishing boats and an occasional barge go by. Once in awhile a tall ship can be seen, such as the Lady Washington. Whether it's sitting on the rocks of the waterfall in the front yard and watching the neighborhood birds play in the water or relaxing in the jacuzzi tub upstairs, it is a true getaway, a destination.
