Katie was a great host. If you are looking for quiet trip to decompress from life or the city - this is the place. All the accommodations are there and we were close to Starved Rock for our hiking adventure.
This was such a fun place! The horses and cats are so fun to watch, and there’s so much wildlife around. Very peaceful to sit around the fire pit after a day of hiking/kayaking. The house is nice and decorated beautifully too. Lovely place overall!!
This place has a lot of character! The amenities and decorations were really nice. Unfortunately, there were a lot of spiders throughout the entire home and in the cupboards and cabinets.
Just stayed two nights for the Scarecrow Festival. It’s very quiet property, close to downtown. It’s an older home but it was comfortable. Good strong water pressure in the shower.
Short drive into town! Having a full kitchen is nice, and lots of tables and spaces to hang out, play games, and a tv in the living room. The beds were a bit squeaky but comfortable. If the lights are off, be aware that there are steps from the side door up to the kitchen where the switch is! Cozy and private, which was just what we were looking for.

I asked Diane if there was a problem with their stay once I saw the low mark she gave.
This was her response:
Just that we were very cold in the evening when we sat and watched tv. We had to wrap up in blankets. During the night, it was stuffy in the bedrooms. Otherwise it was ok.
She did not alert us that they had any issues.
Illinois weather can change rapidly. We would have made an effort to accommodate had we been aware.
Thank you,
Katie

What makes this property unique
Residential farm in the city limits of Ottawa. You will have access to the entire house. Please park on the West side of the house and enter through the west side door. The available coffee maker is a Keurig. Ottawa has trains, helicopters land at the local hospital, sometimes you can hear barges on the river, in the summer sometimes you can hear the jump plane at Skydive Chicago. Recreational activities include festivals in Ottawa and surrounding communities. Ottawa is the town of two rivers the Fox and the Illinois. The home is in walking distance (it's basically visible from the home) to a great park with a running path and fitness stations. It's also very close to a convenience/business district - Walgreens, McDonald's, Burger King, CVS - but also a "fancier" place, Monte's Riverside Inn. Ottawa is the home of the first Lincoln Douglas debate commemorated in Washington Park in downtown. To enjoy the Fox River and the Illinois Michigan Canal visit Fox River Park at Superior St and Champlain St., Ottawa, IL (there is a water feature that kids will enjoy). There is also Allen Park South of the Illinois River which is a wonderful park with boat launch and (toboggan hill for winter fun). Come & enjoy! I am available by text or phone for questions.
