Brought to you by the Heart of Cape Cod, The Alpine is more than a vacation rental—it’s a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and experience the Cape in all its timeless beauty. Just 176 yards from the treasured Thumpertown Beach, this home invites you to begin your day with the scent of salt in the air and end it in comfort and calm. On summer mornings, open the windows to bay breezes and birdsong as you head down to the beach before the crowds even wake. You return sandy and smiling, rinsing off in the outdoor shower before preparing lunch from the garden or grilling under the sun. In the winter, the stillness is profound. The parking lot at Thumpertown is empty, and the only sound is your footsteps along the flats. Gulls drift overhead, hoping for leftover treats that summer no longer brings. The icy breeze bites gently at your cheeks, but the beauty is staggering—especially at sunset, when the sky blooms into outrageous reds, pinks, and chartreuse that you’ll swear only exist here. You return to The Alpine with sand on your boots and the kind of calm that settles in the bones. The couch is deep and cozy, the Wi-Fi is strong, and your evening awaits—games, streaming, dinner, and a cup of tea on the screened porch. This is not just a place to stay—it’s a place to remember. Whether you’re here for laughter with family, reconnection with friends, or a quiet personal escape, The Alpine is designed to feel like home the moment you arrive. We had a great stay at the Alpine! Perfect amount of space. The screen porch was amazing and the outdoor shower and dining set was ideal. Short walk to the beach. Highly recommend staying here!

Great week on Cape Code
We loved staying at Alpine House. It felt private and had all the amenities we could have asked for. They provided all the beach equipment and towels, along with boogie boards and even a wagon to get it down the road. We were big fans of the screened in porch, which allowed us to have dinners "outside" without getting bitten by mosquitos. The beach is only a few minutes walk, but it is a very small beach, so try to get there earlier to get a good spot. The water was lovely and warm and not too deep. Perfect for our almost 7 year old. Would highly recommend this property.

Asked property owner if the AC could be repaired…she reported me as a trespasser to the police
I’ve been traveling for 20 years and never encountered anything like this.
We selected this property for its location and the central air conditioning, as I have 3 little kids and like to keep the property secure at night with the windows shut. We let Tara, the property manager, know the air conditioning was broken on our 1st full day at the property. On our 2nd day, around lunchtime, I asked by text if they’d had any success in contacting a repairman. Tara surprisingly replied that AC for the property was ‘clearly not necessary’ and subsequently abruptly cancelled the reservation mid-stay, which was not what I requested or desired in the middle of my son’s birthday weekend!
Prior to this there was 1 phone call and 2 casual texts about getting the house cooler over an 18 hour period from me, which I thought was pretty normal/reasonable for a customer who paid a premium for an air conditioned house.
We were at the beach when she apparently sent the app message to “vacate the property” with no specified timeline.
Shortly after we returned from the beach for the day, she suddenly appeared in the living room—she had let herself into the house unannounced. She immediately began stating that I had been “converted to a trespasser” in front of my children while standing in the living room. She then stormed out of the house and called the police. I was in total shock. The officers who came were very patient and understanding—they categorized this as a civil matter and we agreed that it would be best and safest for all to stay at a hotel down the street. My son has been asking me all day why the police came to see Mom and Dad! We had to hurriedly throw everything in the car and find somewhere to go for our final night in the area.

Response from VrboOwner on 28 Sept 2021
We contacted Vrbo regarding this retalitory review but they refused to address it so were left with no option but to make the matter for public record.
1. Approximately 9:20 on Friday night we were alerted that the HVAC was not working properly. We responded immediately to the property with a window unit and found the guests sitting in the house with all the windows shut yet it was only 63* outside that night. We suggested they open the windows to cool the house off since we were unable to cool a large, two-level, 3 bedroom house off quickly with a small window unit. They refused.
2. On Saturday, the weather was barely 69* with a cool breeze. We received an email from Brigid requesting a status of repair to the HVAC system on the house. Since this would be an emergency call on a weekend (on Cape Cod, no less!), the weather was cool outside with a breeze, and the guests had a window unit as well, the additional cost to the homeowners to repair the HVAC that day was too much and would need to wait until regular business hours. We decided the guests would be better suited elsewhere.
3. We contacted Vrbo to follow the correct protocal to end the reservation so the guest could rebook at another Vrbo lodging (or even one of the many, many hotels in the area), and followed the steps provided by the associate to refund. We contacted the guest, offered to reimburse for the remaining days of their stay, and allowed them plenty of time to vacate the property. Brigid responded to the email, clearly acknowledging it was received, and intentionally ignored it. Brigid even thanked me for refunding her.
4. Several hours later, when checking the house, Brigid refused to answer the door. I persisted in knocking and finally used my code to let myself into my property. They showed no intention of vacating the premises even though they had been refunded and notified that their reservation had ended.
5. When a reservation has ended and the person has not left and stays beyond a reasonable allowed time to vacate, this is called "trespassing". When Brigid refused to leave, even after I verbally reminded her that her reservation had ended hours before, I followed protocal which is to call the non-emergency line of the police department and have them removed.
~There is no sob story here. From the first point of contact there were issues with this guest. Never in our history have we had to remove someone from our property and hopefully never again. Be forewarned.

Fabulous vacation house
This house was a perfect vacation spot for our family of 5 adults and 2 children (3 & 6). The linens were a must, nothing better than all the beds made upon arrival. They thought of everything in this rental, even little touches that you would not expect. Location is perfect for swimming on the beach and sunsets. Highly recommend!!
Property was clean and as advertised. Property manager was very responsive. 3 min walk to the bay and 5 min drive to ocean beaches made this a great location.
Great for a family and adult friends.
Short 5 minute walk to Thumpertown Beach. The house bed arragement is a little odd but with two 3 persons bedroom but it works
Nice big screened in porch for socializing with out bugs.
Outdoor shower is a huge plus.
It was a great place overall
