Drive down a canopy of crepe myrtle trees to the quintessential lake cabin. Upon entering the great room, you'll immediately notice the beamed ceilings and stacked stone fireplace that create a warm, yet open environment. A sunken den with half-timbers overlooks the lake. 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms complete the private areas. Don't miss the large deck, covered boat dock, sport court and grilling area.
The main cabin of the house was built in the early 1900’s. The cabin was originally a one room hunting cabin with a fireplace and a wood burning stove. The cabin pre-dated the lake and sat about a mile away from the Ouachita River on a ridge above Stokes Creek. When the Carpenter Dam was finished in 1931 forming Lake Hamilton, the little hunting cabin, was fortunately located well above the water line, thus becoming a lakefront property. In 1952, the property owner built a three story structure incorporating the original cabin and adding, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a small living room, and a basement.
The property was owned by U.S. Senator and former Arkansas Governor David Pryor and wife, Barbara for approximately 30 years before we purchased the property in 2012. Rumor has it Al Capone fancied the cabin for poker games along with his cronies. If only the walls could talk!
The original cabin warmly greets you as you enter the front door, and the woodsy aroma of a 120 year history of peaceful memories and healing experiences takes you to a special place that instantly feels like home.
We provide two stand-up paddle boards, canoe, kayak, sport court for badminton or corn hole and giant Jenga.
