One lesson we've learned about the great outdoors is the frequent requirement to wipe down the deck furniture. Despite our efforts to maintain the utmost cleanliness for your convenience, it seems that nature is working against us. You may need to wipe down the outdoor table, chairs, and any other outdoor seating. The dust and pollen accumulates within a matter of hours.

Quiet, comfy home in Truckee

This is our second stay at Hillside Happy Place for our anniversary get away. If you want some peace and quiet with comfy accommodations, this is it! A few restaurants not too far away, great hiking, all around a great mountain experience. Responsive, pleasant communication from Emily during stay. We will stay here again!

We really enjoyed our time in this house. It's close to the ski slopes and had everything we needed. The large windows provided a lot of light and a beautiful view of the snowy yard.

We had a great stay at this cozy home. Enough room for the family spread out, but also a big living room area to convene and watch movies after a big day of skiing. We had a pleasant stay in this cozy house. Pros: Kitchen and bathrooms were clean and well-stocked; in kitchen, appliances all worked, refrigerator and freezer were clean and empty, and oven was clean; very generous with towels, sheets and blankets; good internet entertainment options (Netflix, etc.); good location, close to ski places but quiet neighborhood; check-out time 11am instead of 10am; not too much work to do at check-out; and property manager very responsive. Cons: whole house could use a thorough dust and vacuum, especially under beds.

Wonderful!

We had a great time here over a snowy few days. Things we liked about this house:- communication - perfect, responded right away, local rental company- kitchen had the basics, plus a bit extra - you can tell a real family uses this place!- access to garage in the winter is a HUGE plus, especially since it snowed- sleds and shovels in the garage- loved both the ante room in the entrance AND the very warm laundry room that connects the main living space to the garage - perfect room to dry off wet clothes quickly- we all enjoyed the large jacuzzi in the master bath - a huge hit with our elementary-aged girls- the large wall of windows is special - amazing to watch the snowstorm, and lots of natural lightThe only improvement we would suggest is to sharpen the kitchen knives, and maybe a tea kettle to boil water (although the small saucepan worked in a pinch).

We had a very nice stay. It's not a luxury house, but very nice for the price. Family and friends had a great time. The fire burning stove came in handy when the power went out for 6 hours in winter during a storm! We had a few issues and the customer service was very responsive and the owner was very accommodating. The house could use more kitchen ware (more utensils, bowls, plates, etc). There is barely enough for 5-6 people for one meal. Shower heads not great. Other than that, we were very happy and would consider staying there again.

We had a nice time here and I would stay there again. The home had a few maintenance items that kept me from giving it 5 stars.........mainly the master bath. The master bath has a large window that looks straight out to the neighbors house with no covering on it all. Also, both master bathroom doors were very hard to latch. If you dont care about any privacy in the bathroom, these items would be no big deal. Everything else was good. The backyard has a beautiful setting and nice deck. The area has so many fun activities to offer.

Great house in Donner

Our family enjoyed our stay in December. The house was clean and comfortable. Very close to all the Donner amenities. Our boys ages 4 and 7 went skiing for the first time at the Donner ski area 5 mins away. Had a great kids skiing area. Thanks for a great stay!

Fantastic place!

We stayed here for a July 4th weekend family getaway and it was excellent. The kitchen is big and well stocked and the gas grill was very easy to use for BBQ. The rooms are well furnished and very cozy. Melissa and Alessandra from Tahoe Cohost Collective manages the property and it were super easy to communicate with and they also gave us some great recommendations for our trip. We even had a visit from a pack of deer! All in all a great place to relax and unplug from city life.

Clean and Comfortable Tahoe Cabin

We had a wonderful stay at this very clean and comfortable cabin! We love how it was nicely furnished and extremely easy to enter and leave with the automatic keyless lock system. It has everything we needed and was just perfect for our party. We look forward to returning in the future and will highly recommend this property for future guests! My rowing mates and I enjoyed a relaxing weekend at this convenient location. The condo was a perfect size for cozy card games by the fire and dinners for six. We found the kitchen, showers and beds to be perfectly suitable to our basic needs. Just an FYI of minor details for the owner - the kitchen could use a new drip coffee maker (though there was a french press that was wonderful) and a sharp chef’s knife (though there were plenty of other knives that worked fine). We would definitely stay here again.

Spacious and comfortable cabin falls short in several ways

Although we enjoyed our stay overall, this cabin fell short in many ways. The living area feels welcoming for hang-out time, with a very comfortable couch. We liked the bedrooms, including a comfy bed in the master. Unfortunately, much of the cookware was quite dirty and the stove makes a very loud sound when turned on. Many items are broken or fragile: a disconnected hot water knob in the master bathroom shower meant we couldn't turn on hot water, a bar stool back was broken, a knob fell off the master bedroom dresser, a note asks guests to use the closet sliding glass doors with utmost care. Although you're told the garage can house one car, it's not possible with all the stuff packed inside. The management company also knew the house was missing its HOA facilities passes, but they never informed us until we called them after being turned away at the recreation center. As a result, we didn't have access for one of the three days we were there. Although the management company is responsive, it was a shame to have to call them to remedy issues that shouldn't have existed.

Great Mountain Retreat!

Great place to relax and enjoy being in the mountains! We had so many plans to hike, bike and swim, but it was hard to leave the comfort of the cabin. The beautiful decor was tasteful with fun cabin/mountain touches. Sitting out on the back deck with a good book and glass of wine was heaven! This cabin is well located within Tahoe Donner - we could walk to the rec center where the pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and gym could keep one busy all day. We would definitely recommend this cabin.

Great home, comfortable rooms, great location.

This is a lovely home carefully decorated in keeping with its wooded location. A deck out the back is secluded and perfect for quiet breakfasts and coffee. The rooms have a mixture of single and double beds so that couples or families can easily be accommodated. There is a big spa bath for apres ski time and two other bathrooms for convenience. The location is quiet and the home not overlooked. Step outside and you are near fun walking trails. The location makes it great for winter skiing or summer at either Donner Lake or Tahoe, with a variety of great trails nearby. There is a golf course nearby as well as the clubhouse with a pool and gym. There really is something for everybody here and we look forward to coming again.

Wonderful Tahoe Donner Rental!

What a charming get away in Tahoe Donner! Great house, lots of light, nicely furnished with sweet touches! Very cozy and clean! Close to Truckee and amenities in Tahoe Donner which we very much utilized! Participated in canoeing at the lake- visiting the various pools and family events! We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back! Kids loved it! Totally would recommend this property great for all! Owners were so helpful and professional! KM

When we first walked into the cabin, we knew we had found "the one"! We loved the feel of the house, and the perfect location within Tahoe Donner. It felt so right! We are avid skiers and bought the place primarily as a ski cabin. We were also newly married (for the second time each), and blending our families, so we thought this would be the perfect place to create our new family's traditions. The kids loved coming here, and we indeed shared many good times that have become family lore. But what we didn't anticipate was how much we would use the cabin in the summer! We actually use it more in the Summer/Fall than we do in the Winter, which we did not anticipate. We LOVE hiking, biking, golf, tennis, and sailing from the Tahoe Donner private marina on Donner Lake. The cabin is where we can relax, and get in touch with nature and each other. As soon as we turn onto Hillside Drive, our spirits lift, and we feel ourselves entering into our special happy place. We hope you feel the magic too, and enjoy your stay.
