This is not a typical short-term rental; it is not a renovated dependency or a newly constructed unit in an old neighborhood, nor is it situated on a tiny lot in a questionable or remote area. The old hardwood floors, tall ceilings, original moldings, plasterwork, windows, and doors exude a special warmth, character, and charm that is very difficult to achieve in new construction. The exterior copper roof and guttering provide additional warmth and character. It`s the real deal!

Offsite Resort Amenities:
- Access to The Wonderer, an exclusive adult-only resort downtown Charleston 2.6 miles away from Saint Philip Square (guests 25+ only; no one under 21 permitted at the pool).
- Olympic-sized heated pool (cabana rentals available).
- Gym and fitness classes (additional charges apply).
- Onsite bars, restaurant, and workspaces.
- Note: The Wonderer is a separate entity, and availability may vary. Book in advance for guaranteed access.

St. Philip Square offers a city block of historic elegance right in the heart of Charleston’s vibrant Cannonborough district. Just one block to King Street, walkable to Charleston’s world renowned dining, attractions and shopping along King Street.
Earning 5 esteemed awards from The Preservation Society of Charleston for historic reservation, our accommodations blend new with nostalgia - each boasting unique charm and character.

About the host

Bill and Jacquelin are lifelong Charlestonians who have raised our family in Charleston. We are passionate about everything "Charleston"--history, culture, architecture. We spent 20 years on our sailboat in Europe. While we love Europe, we feel Charleston gives you the best European experience in America but also offers the best of modern American life. We bought the properties at SaintPhilipSquare in 1996 because we believe these historic properties give visitors the best opportunity to live like a Charlestonian. We love the VRBO concept and always stay in VRBO properties when we travel.

Jamie, our capable manager for over 25 years, is the "magic" of SaintPhilipSquare as you will find from the reviews.

Why they chose this property

This building received the Carolopolis Award for historic preservation in 1999 and belongs to a collection of important, historic buildings. Not all the buildings that you see photographed are of equal quality.

The Cannonborough/Elliotborough neighborhood has become the hottest, most vibrant area in town. The list of popular restaurants is amazing. The Grocery, Indaco, Chez Nous, Wild Flour Bakery, The Macintosh, Sugar Bake Shop, Cannon Green, Goulette Bistro, D'Alessandros Piazza, Fuel, The Darling Oyster, Stellas are in walking distance. You can find anything that suits your fancy just StepsAway from SaintPhilipSquare!

There are also shops and boutiques in walking distance-- West Elm, Beads on Cannon, Filigree, Mac and Murphy, Indigo and Cotton. There are day spas, salons and nearby yoga studios. The College of Charleston campus with live oaks dripping with Sapnish moss is a few blocks south. The Marion Square market held every Saturday is also a few blocks as is the popular Childrens' museums

However, if the beach calls you, you can easily access highway 17 north to Sullivans Island and the Isle of Palms or south to Folly Beach, Kiawah Island or Wadmalaw Island. That route will also take you to the famous plantations and historic houses (Drayton Hall, Middleton Place, Magnolia Gardens)

What makes this property unique

Perfect location, convenient parking, attractive decor with space and privacy make this an ideal spot to enjoy Charleston. Being a part of SaintPhilipSquare gives you the opportunity to bring a group together in one setting with attractive dwellings, space, parking and unbeatable location.
