About this property
The Maury River House: A Luxury Country Experience
Originally built in 1870, The Maury River House is a SUPER SPACIOUS, well appointed riverfront vacation home nestled in the Allegheny mountains of Rockbridge Baths, VA. COMPLETELY renovated, the house has 5 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, is highly infant & kid-friendly, sleeps up to 14 people comfortably, comes with a fire pit, firewood, 2 kayaks, a canoe and games, is 50 yards from the river, 2 minutes from Goshen Pass and 15 minutes from Lexington.. With easy access to local microbreweries, vineyards & outdoor activities such as swimming, hiking, fishing, & canoeing, the scenic location of this home is sure to please!
*We love hosting families and we especially welcome families with infants, toddlers and children. We know how difficult it is to travel with young ones and we have intentionally set up this house to be highly infant, toddler and kid-friendly!
**This house does NOT permit parties or large gatherings WITHOUT special permission from the hosts, a signed small event contract, and an additional rental fee. Otherwise, only registered guests (meaning guests sleeping at the property and who are a part of the number count; not to exceed 14 persons) are allowed on the property during the duration of the guests' stay.
***My husband and I personally clean, maintain and manage this 153 year old home and property. Not only do we place a high standard on cleanliness and sanitization, but the stewardship of this space and the intention that our guests have a 5 star experience is very personal to us. We mean it when we say we are happy you are here and if there is anything we can do to enhance your stay, please let us know.

The Maury River House is NOT your basic short term rental. Not only is she a 154 year old home that has been COMPLETELY renovated but she is intentionally set up to evoke a luxurious and contemporary yet cozy and timeless vibe for her guests. The spacious kitchen is equipped with top of the line appliances, stainless steel pots and pans and connects to an expansive Great room so every cook feels pampered and included in the action. Measuring 1200 square feet in size, the substantial Great Room area is ideal for large groups and includes the kitchen, dining room space for 14 persons, a living room area with two leather couches, a gas fireplace, a 65 inch flat screen TV, and connects to a large deck with seating for 14 persons.
Surrounded by river and mountain views, the house measures 3100 square feet in size and is furnished throughout with high quality antiques and modern technology which happily brings the best of both worlds to your vacation. The bathrooms are completely upgraded with top of the line utilities, tiled showers, a jetted tub and a refinished claw foot tub that is original to the house. The interior of the home incorporates many original features including the river rock chimney in the kitchen and two chimneys, outside, the original floorboards on the wall of the living room, the oak staircase, the attic floorboards on the Great room shelving, trimming and kitchen island and the exposed ceiling trusses in the upstairs bedrooms. The exterior of the home features one of the historic hand built rock and steel bridges that used to extend across the Maury River and gives this part of the Shenandoah Valley its namesake - Rockbridge County. Everything we have done to this beloved home and property has been to provide contemporary comfort while also preserving her former aesthetic and charm. Between the extensive amount of amenities provided In the home, the river access with a canoe and kayaks and the picturesque location, it is our sincerest hope that our guests have everything they need to have an exceptional stay full of happy memories.

About the host
Hosted by Lee Felty

Greetings! My name is Lee Krohn Felty. A cherished part of my childhood was visiting my grandparents in Rockbridge Baths, VA during summers and holidays. In 1985, my parents, Helena Mast Krohn and Richard Henry Krohn, bought the parsonage from the church next door to be our vacation home. Thus began a three decades long quest to restore and remodel The Maury River House so that one day it would be their retirement home. When my mom unexpectedly passed in 2015, the fate of the property became uncertain. With the renovation of the house still very much underway, decisions had to be made. After a couple long term renters and a few years on the market without a buyer, my husband, Ian, and I convinced my dad to let us list her as a short term rental in 2020 and finally complete her renovation. Now, we enjoy nothing more than to share The Maury River House and Rockbridge Baths with our guests! We feel my mother's nurturing and supremely loving spirit lives on in the legacy of those that enjoy her beloved home and the mountains, river, and countryside that hold her heart.
