About the host
Hosted by Sydney Arnold & Karla Meinke
Hi! Sydney and Karla, here! We love to share our property! We purchased this property as a complete fixer-upper, and what a PROCESS we survived! We have a lot of sweat equity invested in this beautiful, private estate! We have absolutely loved hosting families for reunions, retreats and weddings. We are also available for individual room rentals as needed, when available. We look forward to your inquiry!
Why they chose this property
We have a heart for old homes, and this one definitely grabbed our attention! With zero experience in "rehabbing" we originally purchased this property simply so it wouldn't be demolished- we wanted our community to be able to enjoy this property for years to come! This property is historical in Mercer County, Missouri. In the late 1800's this was the site of of 66 room Mineral Springs Resort which attracted many travelers from all over the country via Rail! Unfortunately, the Resort burned down. Later in 1921, on the same grounds, the Mercer County Hospital was erected. This is the property we have revitalized!
What makes this property unique
We are sitting on approximately 6 acres of grass, flowers and trees. Adjacent to the home is an Old Oak Grove, where you can sit on a swing, grab a book and read, or picnic. We are nestled on a dead end road, down by the Grand River riverbend. We hope you'll adore and respect our quiet, nature-filled paradise as much as we do! Welcome to Fernwood!
