About this property
Sweet cottage, Best Location, Close to Everything, River View
Our cottage has a distant view of the Beaufort River and is situated under the canopy of a 100-year old live oak tree that is beautifully uplit at night. It is a 5-minute walk to some great restaurant options here on Ladys Island, and a short walk over the quaint swing bridge to all that downtown Beaufort has to offer.
A recent guest review says it all:
“This VRBO property is one of the best short-term rentals that we’ve experienced. Everything is spotless. The cottage is decorated in soothing tones and with a variety of vintage landscape and seascape watercolors. The privacy is unparalleled, and believe me, it's far better to be across the short bridge from downtown than in the midst of a great deal of tourist traffic. Everything you might want to visit is easily accessible from Live Oak Cottage.”
Upon your arrival, expect a fully-stocked kitchen with all cooking utensils and essential supplies provided (spices, oils, coffee, sugar, cooking gear, etc.), free wifi, filtered tap water, fridge with ice maker, gas stove, quartz countertops. 2 TVs with Roku streaming sticks, complimentary YouTubeTV account, USB ports throughout, and driveway parking for 2 vehicles. 2 bathrobes, memory foam mattress, the extra half bath, and laundry with detergent provided are big pluses. Also provided: extra bathroom tissue, paper towels, garbage bags, dish towels. Basically, just bring your toothbrush and clothes. (No stingy starter packs here — with 1 dishwasher pod, 1 garbage bag etc. all your needs are taken care of at Live Oak Cottage).
We have happily hosted honeymooners, birthday getaways, anniversaries, and Marine graduation families. Many are repeat visitors. We are a block from Whitehall Park, a beautiful 10-acre riverfront park that boasts bald eagles and hawks. We are a 10-minute drive to MCRD Parris Island for those families wanting to book for their loved one’s US Marine graduation event.
It is a 15-minute walk/2 min drive to downtown Beaufort, over the swing bridge (featured in “Forrest Gump”), keep an eye out for dolphins and osprey nests as you cross over the Beaufort River, also known as the Intercoastal Waterway.
There are many options right here on Ladys Island, without crossing the bridge. Our cottage is a 5-minute walk from a growing number of amazing dining options including the Dockside seafood restaurant with a fabulous screened-in outdoor bar and deck featuring sweeping views of Factory Creek. Q’s Chicken BBQ Shack offers a more casual dining experience. The Fillin’ Station, a local watering hole has an outside deck overlooking Factory Creek with a casual menu.
The Whitehall Public Boat landing is two blocks away, where you can arrange fish charters and kayak rental tours to explore the Beaufort River and picturesque Factory Creek. There is also a generous public fishing pier adjacent to the boat landing...we have it all right here!
For your shopping needs: We are a 2-minute drive to ALL shopping supplies - grocery, pharmacy, fast food, Walmart, liquor store - yet our cottage is in a quiet, leafy neighborhood just off Route 21.
For trips to the beach we supply Beach chairs, beach towels, beach bag, umbrella, and a cooler.
We offer ample secured storage inside the front barn doors for your kayaks, bicycles, fishing gear.
Beaufort is a great home base for exploring the Lowcountry. Savannah is 45 minutes south, and Charleston is an hour and 15 mins to the north. Beaufort is a perfect jumping-off point to explore the Lowcountry in both directions! We are happy to recommend itineraries in both cities.
We provide all the comforts of home in an idyllic beautiful setting. At night, the landscape uplighting of the 100-year-old live oak and the 10’ European palm are magical. This cottage has our guests complete comfort in mind, and it is a haven from which to explore this fantastic part of the country.
We live on-site and are always available via text and cell.
Attention EV car owners, we now offer a Level 2 EV charging-station at the cottage. Inquire for details.

About the host
Hosted by Barbara R.

We are the property owners, Steve and Barb. We hosted a vrbo property in our coastal New England town before we moved to Beaufort 14 years ago.
We built the cottage with much thought and pride for our guests, whom we know will enjoy their vacation time in here in the Lowcountry.
