About this property

Lake Charlevoix Island

Cottage on an island! This is a 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath cottage on Lake Charlevoix. Nice deck to enjoy the sun. Dock and just steps to the water. High water levels so there isn't a beach - but an excellent location to swim, kayak, boat, etc.! Fireplace for colder nights. Just down from the Ironton Ferry making Boyne City, Charlevoix and East Jordan easily accessible. Secluded and private — this is a great place to get away and enjoy Northern Michigan.

Good place

The outside of the house deck area was not clean. My girlfriend spent 20-30 minutes when we got there cleaning the deck area. There were left over cigarette butts and beer cans out. Plus the table and furniture was very dirty as well. The hot tub did not work and was kind of an eye sore. Inside was very clean and no other real issues, great views. Also wish the description told us there were no fire pits allowed in the island.

This property is not well kept . . . challenges . . . challenges

This property may well have been properly maintained in the past but its current maintenance is sub-par & in need of basic maintenance to make it acceptable for the rates being charged. Our experience started after booking & paying in full 6 months in advance when we received a call to cancel our reservation because another party wanted it for 2 weeks overlapping our 1 week stay. Contractually not an acceptable request. When we arrived we immediately noticed the extremely dirty windows & near impossible to open rear sliding door. I had to add some liquid soap to the door track so my grandkids (11 & 14) & wife could open it. The windows had not been washed & most had incredible cobwebs and dirt streaks. The decks & patio were covered w/pine needles, spider webs and debris. Electrical wires hanging from the rear roof and the hot water had a notable sulfur smell – It needed a chlorination treatment. The sliding door did not have a lock (but equipped w/a weathered piece of old wood as a stop). The 2nd story windows had considerable pine needles and spider webs between the exterior of the glass the storm windows. These windows were unprofessionally installed allowing the weather, debris & insects to enter between the panes. We were told by the property manager that cleaning these window were the responsibility of the ‘owners’. When requested they were not willing to share with us the owners contact information so we could address this issue directly . . . in other words – live with it or leave – which was offered by the property manager 2 or 3 times during our discussions. Other issues w/the property included several substandard conditions including: - grease laden oven drip pan & stove top griddle - non-functioning vertical blinds on the kitchen sliding door - the front door knob hardware was not functional - notable sewer odors in the basement caused by an open & unsealed in-ground septic crock - a basement ceiling light hanging from its wires - there was a hot tub (not included in the VRBO listing) that had a seasons worth of leaves, dirt, pine needles and stagnant water on & in it. A notable safety issue if anyone stepped on the dilapidated top - several outdoor & indoor electrical outlets installed w/o covers creating a safety issues & a code violation After our notices the property manager sent out cleaners to address the concerns but were not equipped to handle our repair & cleaning requests. Not a good experience !

Beautiful Friend Gathering in winter

We were a group of 8 staying during a long weekend. The house had all the cookware that you can imagine, clean towels and sheets, and it was very clean. The views are amazing in the winter and I bet summer as well. We went skiing to Boyne Mountain which is 30 minutes away, easy commute. The only issue we had was with the water smelling funky and the management resolved it very quickly by changing the appropriate filter. Highly recommend!

Comfortable, unique and well-kept property. An effortless stay.

The cabin was in excellent condition and very clean inside. We had a very comfortable three-day stay. The property is very unique, being on Holy Island. You get excellent lake access while feeling like there are no neighbors. The dock was sturdy, wide and in great shape (no worry of knocking a kid off as you pass by). The cabin is also very spacious inside and out. Excellent for a two-family stay. Highly recommended.

Great House - Beautiful Lake

The location was great on a small island, it was very peaceful and really close to Charlevoix. The room with the bunkbeds was small, but everything else was larger than expected. We spent all of our time on the dock or the deck. It was the perfect get away.
