Motupipi sits on a private peninsula consisting of 20 hectares of native bush with beachfront access. Accommodation consists of a fully self-contained two bedroom cottage which has spectacular views from the deck, which is only 50 metres from the shoreline. The property includes a 1.2 kilometre bush walk which is fabulous for viewing native flora and birdlife. At night, sit on the deck and listen to the morepork and kiwi calling. The cottage is a 15 - 20 minute drive to the Kerikeri village to cater for all shopping needs including weekend markets. The seaside town of Paihia is a comfortable 40 minute drive and offers a wide variety of tourist excursions, including chartered trips to Ninety Mile Beach and Cape Reinga, for those wanting to see more of the Far North area. For those wanting to simply relax at the beach, this is the perfect place for peace and tranquillity. Boats up to 6 metres can be launched from the beach with a 4WD. Motupipi sleeps two comfortably in the main room (queen bed) with the optional use of a separate second bedroom, which has two single beds. This bedroom has a quaint curtained doorway and three-quarter height wall separating it from the main living area. Both bedrooms have close up, uninterrupted water views. The views and wide open green space beats TV. Sit on the deck and watch the sun go down and watch the birds on the lawn in the evening. Just relax, read, fish, swim, walk, play games outside on the big lawn area, sit under a pohutukawa tree, try out the swing and/or simply watch the tide come in and go out. Motupipi is the perfect secluded place for either a relaxing weekend getaway or extended holiday break. We had an amazing stay at the bach. Both Hamish and Gay sre amazing host and made us feel welcomed. The location is top notch I wont spoil it but photos dont do justice.A proper Kiwi Bach!!
Amazing location which our family of 4 loved. Kids loved playing on the flat grass lawn in front. Kayaked and swam in the bay and walked around the coast to a sandy beach.Owners very welcoming and accommodating, thank you so much!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it’s been the most peaceful, laid back experience we could have hoped for. Bach was perfect for us, had everything we needed and plenty of space to lounge about. Our hosts were accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed a wonderful meal with their compliments. First on our list when we return.
We had an amazing family stay in this beautiful piece of paradise and only wish we had booked for longer.Had an amazing time with kids kayaking around the inlets, fishing, coffee at the waters edge, a wine on the deck in the evening, watching and listening to the local birdlife including kiwis at night.A huge thank you to the Starr family and a special shout out to Hamish and his friendly dog Shaky for sharing their magical place with us and going the extra mile to make it truly special. We wouldn't hesitate to come back and stay next time we are in the Northland region
The hosts went out of there way to make us ferl at home. They were the kindest people I've ever met! The location was like a piece of heaven and the place was very clean and nice. I would stay here again if I could. Highly, highly recommended.
The hosts here are incredible! So welcoming and friendly. They were just lovely! The Bach is simple in a good way, with everything you need and in an absolutely stunning location. It is a very special place.
Our stay at Motupipi was an incredible memory, from start to finish. Our hosts welcomed us, spoiled us, and provided detailed information so that nothing was left to guess or to chance. We enjoyed relaxing, fishing, kayaking, and sampling NZ wines on the deck. Truly, a special place which we will not forget.
Hosts are the most friendly, hospitable people! This is the second time we’ve stayed here, we love it so much. We had family staying for some of the time too which was extra special. We’ll be back!
The family are incredibly welcoming and generous. The bach is in a beautiful piece of paradise with great fishing near by. The bach has everything one needs for a wonderful holiday.
This place is fantastic and we will definitely be returning Very clean. Beautiful setting and so so peaceful. The hosts are the best! Very friendly and helpful. The fresh fish was so yum. This would have to be our new favourite spot.
Lovely Bach on waters edge by Bay of islands. 2 Bedrooms ideal for a family Grassed area was large and well maintained Peaceful location for a quiet getaway. Plenty of space for kids to explore nature. Bach was well equipped.

Why they chose this property
This property has been with our family for several generations.
What makes this property unique
Motupipi is known to our extended family and friends as a place of relaxation and peace. There is time here to sit and have a cup of tea or coffee, relax, chat, and also time to go fishing swimming and exploring. Many people come here so they can see the beautiful Bay of Islands, and realise when they get here that they just want to stay here and soak in the beauty and peace of the place. The bach is an old-style Kiwi bach, that has had some refurbishment recently to make it more comfortable. Come and enjoy it.
