About this property
Wonderful hideaway! Absolute beach front bliss!
CREATE LIFE-LONG MEMORIES The iconic holiday at the beach - togs, towel, family and friends, games on the beach and sand angels and sandcastles, balmy evenings, laughter, conversations and good food . . .
This private, beach front family bach offers all this with the beach on the doorstep, and spacious indoor and outdoor areas to relax and enjoy. The "ranch slider" glass doors open to the front and side deck which gets the morning/early afternoon sun and the brick courtyard at the back gets that late afternoon/evening light: BBQ around the stone circle. And the outdoor bath in twilight/moonlight - under the olive tree, gazing out at Fairy Bay - bliss!
Large, comfy sitting room - chairs, divans, bean bags and cushions. Lots of board games, books, radio and CD player, fridge and freezer.
The sea is safe for swimming, okay for fishing (possible to launch a boat), and the reef immediately in front of the bach provides hours of exploring both in rock pools and with mask and snorkel at low tide. The wide, long sandy beach is great for walking and playing games.
And in winter, enjoy that Hawke's Bay clear, crisp weather with crunchy nights snuggled by the fire, and beach-combing and playing under the blue skies by day. And in those raging storms, play board and card games and read books by the fire, adventuring out into the wild once a day, gumbooted and dressed like yetis ... and then the hot bath with a book!
3 COMFORTABLE BEDROOMS (front bedroom double bed, bunk room with bunks and single bed, and back bedroom with a single and a small double bed), and a divan in the sitting room.
The kitchen is simple but has a good old oven and range of pots and pans - everything you need to turn out a first class meal! The nearest town is Waipawa, a 40 minute drive, so stock up on food and have enough petrol for a return trip!
Special conditions:
• ALL BOOKINGS - AT LEAST 2 NIGHTS MINIMUM
• DISCOUNTS for more than 7 days: please enquire.
Smoking outside only.
Pets may be permitted - talk to us.
Water is an issue especially from spring to autumn - use carefully.

Leave the cottage as you found it - clean, all rubbish removed, the fridge and freezers turned off with the doors open, doors and windows locked.
Let us know if there are any breakages or problem
NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels)

About the host
Hosted by mango9

Our family has owned this property since the early 1960s. The cottage was built from mature macrocarpa trees planted by our dad on his farm. We would spend most of our summers staying at Mangakuri, dad coming and going a bit with haymaking, shearing and pea harvests demanding attention. Blissful summers - the days were ruled by the low tides when we would explore the rock pools, splash widly in the warm tidal pools, catch reef fish, crayfish and snorkel for paua. It hasnt changed for us except for the depletion of seafood. We love the beach and the bach - it is our family's gathering place as often as we can.
What makes this property unique
Sandy beach, safe swimming and snorkeling in front of bach, fishing, surfing, walking.
