Bliss, perfect Studio with outdoor setting so tastefully decorated. Peaceful relaxing all we were looking for.

The Studio is new and contemporary with polished concrete floors and cosy and homely, has a great tiled shower, it is tastefully and simply decorated and immaculately clean.
French doors open onto your own enclosed timber deck, cook a chooky or vege burger on the barbecue and you're welcome to use herbs from the garden.

There are 2 bikes here which you are welcome to use and a bike shed if you want to bring your own. There is off street parking for the car too.

If the nights get a bit chilly there is a toasty warm Studio wood fire (which I love), very very cosy.

The Great Taste Cycle Trail: We are just a couple of minutes from the Wharf where the Mapua Ferry carries people and their bikes connecting Mapua to Rabbit Is as part of the cycle trail linking to Nelson and the other way to Kaiteriteri.

The Wharf and the village has a variety of unique shops show casing local artists work, restaurants and cafes fish and chip shop and the Golden Bear Brewery (boutique brewery) often has live music for you to kick back relax and enjoy.

I want to mention too that Godwits migrate all the way from Alaska (11000km) to spent time with us and they come to our estuary which is at the end of our street. I find that amazing. At the end of the street is also a tranquil place to watch the sun go down
Special conditions:
Although we do the cleaning, we do ask that you leave the Studio tidy with dishes done.
The Studio is ultra clean and has freshly ironed fine quality sheets.

A fabulous place to stay. Host, Kathy, is so welcoming and friendly, showed us around her amazing studio accommodation and made us feel very welcome. Perfect getaway

A gem in Mapua

Impeccably clean studio

Lovely hideaway

We enjoyed Kathy's hospitality. The wharf is nearby and has some small shops and food vendors/restaurants. A ferry to Rabbit Island and bike ride is a nice way to see the beach. Close enough to Abel Tasman for a day trip. The studio is large, well set-up and very peaceful.

The studio was well appointed, a nice size and very clean. There is a lovely little private deck which is a lovely sun trap during the day. Kathy was very welcoming, all this and just a few minutes walk from Mapua Wharf. Spoilt for choice with places to eat in walking distance and a nice walk back down by the water. Mapua, an excellent location for exploring the northern Coast of South Island

An excellent stay at Kathy's bach. Everything needed was on site. Comfy bed and well equipped kitchen. Great place to stay

This is a lovely quiet studio in a fabulous location just minutes walk away from the sea and cafes and shops. We visited in winter and the wood burner made this tastefully decorated studio the cosiest of places to stay. We liked it so much in Mapua that we decided to stay longer and since the studio was booked we were offered another property run by the same owner. This was a large 2 bedroom fully kitted out house, also nicely and comfortably furnished, again with a wood burner. There was heaps of firewood provided and the owner couldn’t have been more helpful. We loved our time so much we think we might move here!

Hi I love to create a warm, friendly, homely (and it will be immaculately clean) haven for guests to enjoy. I previously owned a backpackers at the start of the Abel Tasman National Park and realise that providing accommodation is my thing, yes I do actually love my "job" Since creating The Studio I have become interested in living in small spaces. The Studio is set in an organic garden with native trees too. You may get a visit from Ginga the ginger cat who lives here too. Ginga is optional.

Why they chose this property

For all the reasons under unique benefits below, I can't think of anywhere else I would want to be. I was born in the Nelson area and so it is very much where I feel at home.

What makes this property unique

The Studio is perfectly located in Mapua which is a beautiful seaside village central in the Nelson bays region, 30 mins one way is Nelson city and 45 mins the other way to the Abel Tasman National Park with galleries, winery's restaurants cafes in between. It is a short easy stroll from Mapua Studio to the wharf (where there are restaurants,cafes, specialty shops, boutique brewery) but still in a quiet street on a peninsular in the Waimea estuary.
