About this property
Award-winning historic replica in Richmond
This stunning property is a loving tribute to the old cottage that preceded it on this site. The new building's facade recalls the imposing street-friendly presence of the original cottage, now enhanced by award-winning landscaping that draws looks of admiration and neighbourhood appreciation from all who pass. Old-fashioned sash windows (double-glazed for warmth), bright black and white quoins and copper planters for geraniums complete the welcome.
Behind the electric gates the property opens up to a grassed expanse to the north. A small terrace invites alfresco dining or whiling away the early evening hours as the sun goes down. First floor balconies open up from each bedroom to the same view. The neighbourhood is quiet, but not far from the restaurants and cafes at the northern end of Stanmore Road. Other local facilities include a nearby supermarket, bus routes and Richmond Playground. A little further afield lies the Wilding Park Tennis centre and The Palms Shopping Mall.
For larger groups, this property is affiliated with two adjoining houses Maison du Ciel (Bookabach #35473) and Maison du Soleil (Bookabach #35475) via a garden gate. So it is possible for larger groups to stay in close proximity, yet maintain privacy when required.
This house received a Gold Award in the Master Builders House of the Year 2015 competition. It has been tastefully decorated and offers internal access from the garage. It is naturally warm but fully appointed with heated ceiling and gas fire in the living areas and each bedroom has built-in panel heaters.

We enjoyed our stay in this lovely house in Christchurch! It was beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and well provisioned. The location worked well with a grocery store within walking distance and quick access to central Christchurch. We would definitely stay here again!
An amazing place decorated with good taste...an italian palazzo look a like with an interior garden. Great comfy beds, quiet and cozy. Will definetly book again when visiting Christchurch.
What could be better than relaxing before a warm fireplace on a cool Christchurch evening in a delightfully comfortable and funky home? We couldn't be happier with our stay.
We loved the location of this great property, a 2 minute stroll to the river and walking tracks, the house was very comfortable and totally suited our group. We will be back and look forward to that greatly.
I’m an ex Christchurch girl hence it was lovely to stay in an area I didn’t know in such a beautifully built and decorated home.
It was easy to get around from this centrist location and we had everything we needed to come home to
We will stay again
(p.s loved the lamp shades 😊)
This is the second of the hosts properties I have stayed in, and I think I will stick to the same hosts going forward. The property was absolutely beautiful with attention to detail for the old colonial style which suited this circa 1880’s home. The bathroom and kitchen fittings/appliances were just gorgeous. The little reading nook off the second bedroom was an added bonus. We did not want for anything. We had a lovely stay. We wished it was longer so we could’ve enjoyed the house more. We will be back
This accom was was great for 2 couples. Bedrooms are upstairs but even with a dodgy knee I had no problems. decor was a little different but added to the charm. Beds and pillows very comfy and we had everything we needed. Easy to get to shops and Christchurch city centre. Thank you Danielle. Del, Brad,Jo and Al Perth WA
Absolute perfect place either for relaxation or work. When we arrived it was so warm and welcoming and the house was spotless. The house is very eclectic and the decor is fabulous. The house is close to a great supermarket and the bus stops are just around the corner so a vechile is not needed. The outdoor area is really spacious and the property is very quiet and secure. The host was very easy to communicate with and the little extra touches were so appreciated. We would definitively love to stay again and will certainly recommend this property to others.Thank you for letting us share this fabulous home.

Thanks so much !
Sheryll was a wonderful guest .
Best wishes. Danielle
we loved the size and space of the house. There were plenty of kitchen staples available, as well as a large array of crockery and cutlery. The bathrooms were of a good size, and the downstairs WC was a bonus. Rooms were warm, beds very cosy. The furnishings were a delight - wherever we looked we would find something new to remark on. Our grandson loved running around outside in the back yard - heaps of space here. Basic but easy to use laundry. Plenty of seating in both dining and lounge areas. The only negatives, if you could call them that, was the driveway and garage - they are quite narrow to negotiate - especially given people across the road park on the road which makes it hard to reverse into the driveway. As we had a rental car we felt we should park in the garage - otherwise we would have used the second driveway. And we couldn't figure out the TV lol. But these were the only (and very minor) hiccups in the whole stay. We would definitely book again should we return to Chch. PS great communication from the owner :)
The property is beautiful. It is located near to all the major attractions. The communication from the property manager was clear & she was very helpful. We will definitely stay here again.
This house is adorable.
Well equipped, plus that bath is to die for.
Photos don't do it justice.
It is a 3min walk to the supermarket which is super handy as I flew to Christchurch.
Super tidy, very quirky decor, great communication from the owner, great places to eat just around the corner, all in all a fabulous place to stay.
Would recommend to anyone, especially if you like something a little different... No doubt you will have seen the photos before reading the reviews.
Thanks for the wonderful stay.
