We had a really enjoyable week, in a lovely seaside home within an idyllic setting. The weather was fantastic. After checking out the local surf breaks there was plenty for our teenage children to do locally but they chose to remain around the property. We thank Gary and Sandy for the opportunity to stay at their lovely home and look forward to the possibility of a return trip next summer
We had a glorious week at Gary and Sandy ‘s Tawharanui home. They were always available and it was a relaxing and stress free week. The photos do not do it justice - it is a lovely, light airy and cozy home with numerous different places to relax, with a full kitchen and three bathrooms. We spent many hours sitting on the deck enjoying the sea views while being surrounded by bird life. We were spoilt for choice with so many surrounding options of beaches, sculpture parks, the Matakana market and superb dining at Brick Bay and the Sawmill Brewery.

Charming home full of interest! Spectacular view and wonderful bird life.
Charming home full of interest! Spectacular view and wonderful bird life. The house has a lovely cosy feel with little nooks to read in or a couch to curl up in front of the fire. The short walk to the beach' either directly down from the property or along the road is rewarded with a sheltered beach which is fun to explore. We had a great time with day trips to Morris & James, Matakana and Leigh.

Beautiful views and the decor inside is just perfect!
Beautiful views and the decor inside is just perfect! The photos online really don't do it justice (I would honestly recommend updating them). It was a cozy winter retreat was a super heater and fireplace to keep us warm, plus easy access to a beach. The views gave such a tranquil feeling.

We are in our 70's and discovered this magical spot to spend our later years. We travel a lot overseas and in our motorhome and enjoy letting other people enjoy our special spot.
Why they chose this property
We love our little place because it is 'on the water' and in the bush giving us wonderful sea and bird life. We have a kayak or two at the bottom of steps to the beach and when the tide right can just paddle off in the generally tranquil waters to fish or just enjoy.
What makes this property unique
A story book cottage with a large bedroom overlooking the sea and a separate dolls house chalet, two story with its own lounge , TV and bathroom. The chalet gives a totally separate space for that other couple or adult children. 'The cottage' or both together. A great space for two couples or some extra older singles. Note we do not rent the chalet separately when the cottage is rented.
