Self-contained cottage in tranquil bay - wharf & mooring - ideal for boaties
An idyllic location that is off the beaten track and located in a peaceful valley, full of birdsong and with a gentle stream flowing to a secluded all-weather bay and safe, child-friendly beach. The self-contained cottage is located by the stream and 20m from the main house where the owners live. With access by boat only (no road access) the bay is very private with safe swimming and is sometimes frequented by dolphins. There are two registered moorings for parking your boat and a jetty with pontoon for easy boat access. Walk 300 metres from the jetty to the house across the beach at low tide or along the track around the edge of the bay at high tide. Three sit-on-top kayaks are available by arrangement.
Special conditions:

About the host
Hosted by owhitumagic

On-site hosts Paul and Anne Marie McGlashan have lived at Owhitu Bay for over 8 years. After growing up in Auckland and now with grown up children living in the city, we work remotely and enjoy a quieter environment with its off-grid lifestyle and sustainability focus. We enjoy introducing our guests to the island way of life and the pristine environment.
Why they chose this property
We enjoy the slower pace of life, the peace and quiet, the bird life, being surprised by dolphins in the bay, the jumping bait fish, being close to the sea and its moods, and to nature and the elements.
What makes this property unique
Great fishing in the bay from jetty, rocks, kayak or boat.
