About this property
XSPOT Medlands - new 2 bed 2 bath pad - ocean views - 5 min. stroll to the beach
Watch the sunrise from your comfy bead and stroll to the beach below. Have a quick dip in the waves and come home to a warm outside shower with a view. A perfect start to the day.
Over breakfast, enjoy the best view of Oruawharo Medlands and the ocean beyond from elevated XSPOT Medlands: lounge/kitchen and both bedrooms have sea views.
XSPOT Medlands Beach house offers the perfect central spot to for island adventures: walks, beaches, galleries, hot pools and the stars at night.
The beach house is a new build, finished late in 2023. The compact and clean architectural design enables you to concentrate on your holidays. Decks for sun in front and shade in the rear are perfect for sunny days, while the sea breeze and longer eves will keep the house cool.
After a day of discovering the island's hidden gems, unwind in bliss. Settle into a cozy spot, with a good book in hand or gazing out at the bay - where waves dance to the shore. Our shelves are stocked with binoculars, perfect for bird watching and soaking in the landscape. Additionally, you'll find a selection of books and games, offering the perfect excuse to unplug and enjoy some quality off-screen time.
As Aotea Great Barrier Island is off grid, all houses here generate their own power. XSPOT Medlands has its own modern power system. Sufficient for charging phones and laptops and using lights at night, but please leave hair dryers and rice cookers at home.
XSPOT has Starlink internet if you are looking for a working holiday - or just like to remain connected to the rest of the world.
Water is caught of the roof and stored in tanks below and above the house. Use it moderately, or sparingly in a drought. A washing machine for cold short daytime washes ;-) makes this house suitable for longer stays as well.
The beach house is conveniently located at Medlands Beach, half way between Tryphena and Claris, Great Barrier Island's busiest settlements. It's 5 min. walk to the beach, or less than a minute by car.
Drive a windy 10 minutes over the hill to shop for your groceries or to eat out in Tryphena or Claris and discover the many walking tracks the island has to offer. The Kowhai Track and Station Rock Track are only a 15 minute drive away, or link them up for a full 4 hr loop of walking with the road right out front.
And, did you know that the island is a Dark Sky Sanctuary? Due to lack of light pollution, Aotea offers some of the best skies you will ever encounter. Stargazing tours by the Good Heavens team take place just down the road, on top of a sand dune along Medlands beach. Or they can come to you if you prefer a private experience.
After a day full of active or relaxed relaxation, comfortable beds with new mattresses and crisp linen should ensure a solid nights' sleep. Wake up energised and rearing to go for another day of island adventure.
Hot pools, water falls, quirky galleries, e-scooter rides, mermaid pools, windy canyons and a plethora of walking tracks await. We're happy to help with your selection and will meet you on arrival if we can.
