About this property
Suffolk Street Retreat - Mangawhai Heads
This family friendly property is situated in a quiet street in Mangawhai Heads enabling you to enjoy all services and attractions at both the Heads and the Village.
Suffolk Street Retreat is a ‘80s built pole house with ‘70s styling. It has three bedrooms. A master bedroom with Queen bed, a "bunk room" with two single bunk beds, and an additional single bed, and a third bedroom with two single beds. A port-a-cot is also available. In total the house can sleep up to seven guests (+ the port-a-cot). There's no linen on the beds so you'll need to bring your own including top and bottom sheets, pillowcases, towels, bathmat, hand towel, tea towels and so on. There are duvet covers on the duvets, and plenty of blankets.
The open plan layout of the living room, dining area and kitchen makes for relaxed holiday living. A ranch slider opens on to the sun trap deck. The balustrade on the deck has been “child proofed” with the addition of chicken mesh. The kitchen is fully equipped.
A separate laundry includes a washing machine with huge capacity to deal with the beach towels and other family wash requirements quickly and easily. An iron is also available. There is a large outdoor rotary clothesline for hanging washing and, in the event of inclement weather, a clothes line under the house enables you to get the washing dry despite the showers.
Attractions within walking distance include the:
• skate board park and playground, great for the kids and teenagers
• museum which has a cafe and displays for those who are keen on the history of the area which pre-school children also enjoy (check out the long-drop!), a good rainy day activity
• Estuary for safe swimming
• Mangawhai Golf Course in walking distance, Tara Iti Golf Course is 14 mins drive
• Op shops
• Wineries
• Walking trails
• Surfing
• Bennetts of Mangawhai Chocolate Shop, Factory and Cafe
Within a short car trip you can head south to the village to visit the shops, cafes, Tavern and Mangawhai Beach School markets and Bennetts chocolate factory. The surf beach is a five to ten minute drive to the north.
There is plenty of flat land around the bach that is suitable for bull rush and swing ball world championships.
There is no wifi available. This is a conscious choice to unplug when away on holiday. Kindred (https://kindredcoworking.co.nz/) is a local coworking space in Mangawhai Village should you want to access office facilities.
Extras: Linen (Optional, NZ$25.00 per person)
NOTE: Invoking the kiwi bach tradition you are expected to clean the house, do the dishes and take your rubbish when you leave.
A cleaner can be arranged after you depart the bach for an additional fee of NZ$80.00. If you elect this option it is expected that you leave the house tidy, do the dishes, and take your rubbish when you leave also.
