The property is a wee piece of paradise well placed between Hokitika and Greymouth.

Why they chose this property
A short drive from the wild west coast beaches, 2 towns nearby for supplies, but mostly chosen for the stunning local wilderness, breathtaking scenery, great local community and peace. It's a short walk into Kumara village, we're surrounded by bush, plus some nearby walks take you to amazing views (Taylor's Hill particularly) and out into the native forest. There's incredible history here and while in the middle of so many places, you feel a world away.
What makes this property unique
Every day is a good day when you wake up to birdsong and go to sleep with the owls.
The villa has been here since 1881, dating back to a time when Kumara was bustling with the gold rush and running at quite a different pace to life today. Now there's a mix of accommodation on site with a variety of campsite spots in addition to a couple of family rooms outside of the villa.
Much of the site is outdoors or faces greenery, encouraging a connection with the beautiful nature all around. Facilities have been designed to be accessible and easy to use and we encourage community amongst those staying. There's a healing hut for osteopathy and massages, as well as a studio for classes (typically yoga but it's available for anyone with a skill to teach) and workshops; we are blessed with many great local facilitators and teachers.
