Picture perfect views from the terrace & windows are exquisite. The old town itself is an historical masterpiece known for its architecture, artists & gastronomy. The cobble-stoned streets are filled with galleries, bars, eateries & shops. In the best location-10mins from Cannes & 25mins from Nice Airport
BACKGROUND
This is a home that has been furnished with olde world pieces sourced over time to intrinsically complement the charm and character of this magnificent 300 year old building. It is suited to those who want to bask in a bygone era and no attempt has been made to make it look like a modern hotel with that generic styling. This is a deliberately unique home which nevertheless offers all the comforts of contemporary living.
LOUNGE
The lounge has solid timber beams which have stood the test of time. The walls are lined by stones and the floor is paved in large tiles. Windows frame a picture-perfect view of the surrounding countryside and the sunsets are truly amazing to watch. Comfy lounge furniture painted with gold gilt-like finishing to the arm chairs, chaise lounge and the super indulgent day bed. The area is complemented by soft lighting and artistic pieces.
Don’t forget to pat Eli – the gorgeous wooden elephant standing by the terrace door – for good luck. The 43” flat screen smart TV has access to all the streaming channels using your own log in details. There is unlimited WiFi at your disposal. There is a reverse cycle air conditioner for heating and cooling.
DINING
The dining area has a timber table which seats 6-8 comfortably. The antique buffet dresser just adds to the ambiance as does the marbled lamp. Quintessentially provencale crockery is provided as are an assortment of coloured glasses, tumblers and wine glasses.
KITCHEN
The kitchen is spacious with plenty of bench space and cupboards. The old timber cabinetry is unusually curved, the doors are dressed by old-styled hinges and the marble top gives a perfect finish. The unique faucet is absolutely gorgeous with a brass swan head. There is an electric oven, four hotplates and a grill – there is also a BBQ on the terrace for an additional cooking facility. A dishwasher and 10kg washing machine is incorporated into the cabinetry for ease of use. A Nespresso coffee machine and tea making facilités are supplied. There is a second reverse cycle air conditioner for heating and cooling.
TERRACE
The piece de resistance for this level would have to be the spacious outdoor area with its magnificent views. There is comfortable lounge seating as well as a Moroccan dining table that comfortably seats 6. The 6 burner BBQ with a wok attachment make outdoor dining a breeze and the best part of the day is to gather over an evening meal and watch the sun set in front of you.
GROUND FLOOR
The ground floor level has two ensuite bedrooms, office area and a powder room toilet.
ENSUITE BATHROOMS
Western-style spacious showers with both rain water and jet stream heads. A large bath is located in bedroom 1 - it does not function as a spa. The marbled bench top has dual sinks and there is plenty of storage underneath. Traditional ceramic tiles complete the styling. Bedroom 2 has a contemporary bathroom styled in black tiles and chrome fittings.
Toiletries such as bodywash, shampoo and conditioner are supplied as are towels, bath mat and a hair dryer.
Bedroom 1
has a great view over the countryside with a door opening window. The bed is 180 x 200 with a really comfortable pocket spring/memory foam Cassiopee mattress and high quality bedlinen is used. A 100 year old dresser provides drawer space and the floor to ceiling cupboards give substantial storage. There is a reverse cycle air conditioner for heating and cooling.
Bedroom 2
has two mattresses 90 x 200 which are Tempur brand with a medium and a firm feel and are incredibly comfortable. There is an option to have the units brought together to make a big bed size of 180 x 200 size – just advise upon booking what configuration is required. Quality bedlinen is used. A large wardrobe gives substantial storage space and there is a full length mirror attached to the door. Two windows ensure it is light filled and look onto great views. There is a reverse cycle air conditioner for heating and cooling.
A fold up full sized single bed with a slatted base, foam mattress, linen and pillow is available for an additional €15/night. A travel cot (no linen supplied) is available at an additional cost of €10/night - please advise if any is required as it is not supplied as a standard inclusion.
OFFICE AREA
The office area has an antique desk and chair. It can be quite difficult to work as you just want to gaze out the window onto the glorious landscape. There is a sofabed that converts into a double bed with linen supplied.
MOUGINS OLD VILLAGE
The house is cosy and brimming with history. It is comfortable and perfectly located on the outer perimeter of the central walkways so there is reduced noise from the restaurants and bars.
Mougins is a medieval village located between the sea and the mountains, between the perfumeries of Grasse and the city of Cannes. It is best known for the variety of restaurants - it is considered the capital of gastronomy in the Cote d’Azur.
The narrow cobblestoned winding pathways are lined by multiple galleries and studios which cement its history as an artistic haven. The most well known was Picasso who lived his final years in the area.
There is much to see and do and the best part is the easy access – there are over 275 free parking places in five car parks around the village. The closest car park is just a two minute walk from the house. Mougins is not as hilly as many other old medieval villages.
There is a bus which takes you directly to Cannes (approx. 1.70€) or by car it is just a 10-15 minutes drive.
It is a great place to explore the beauty of the French Riviera and visit Antibes, St Tropez, Nice, Monaco, Riviera – even pop over to Italy as it is just 1 hour away.
Old town Mougins village is special: it is not as touristy as Valbonne or St Paul de Vence, it is not as hilly as Cagnes sur Mer or Biot nor is it as busy as Cannes or Antibes. All of these places are well worth visiting but it is wonderful to come home to Vieux Village Mougins and really relax in an exquisitely beautiful part of the world. Try it :)
