The mornings on the back deck with a coffee in hand had me never wanting to leave. This place was wonderful. It’s about 15 minutes in any direction to get to any amenities or sites so it really feels like the middle of the forest yet close enough that we could go out and grab a bite to eat. We for sure are wanting to come back to this place.

Hi Melissa,
Thank you so much—we love hearing this. There’s something special about those quiet mornings on the deck, coffee in hand, surrounded by the forest. We’re so glad you were able to enjoy that balance of peaceful seclusion while still being close to everything near Shasta Lake.
We’d absolutely love to host you again anytime.
We had a great time and so did our dogs! The house was just what we were looking forward to as a mountain get away. Clean and our host was very friendly

Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Overall, we had an okay stay at this property. The pros: It’s very spacious and accommodated our 4 adults, 3 kids no problem. Huge living room with 2 reclining couches. Kitchen is a good size. Parking multiple vehicles is easy. It’s extremely quiet and peaceful and about a 15min drive to Shasta. There is no service around the property and we had a hard time with check-in since we couldn’t access our instructions, so screenshot those before you arrive. The cons: The amenities are seriously lacking. The house was not very clean. Huge cobwebs all over the fireplace and inside the closets. There was no gas for the grill upon arrival so we couldn’t use it at all. There is only one pan and one pot for cooking. Not a single dish towel or hand towel to be found in the entire house, although they have plenty of paper towel rolls (seems wasteful). There is a leftover assortment of mostly used shower products for you to choose from. The mattresses are cheap and uncomfortable and the bed linens are all some type of polyester blend so you’ll be sweating. Also, the trash is still accessible to bears so there are trails of trash going up the hill in multiple places around the property. Did not feel at all like the host put any thought into making things comfortable for folks to stay here. They provide four walls and you need to bring the rest.
DO NOT RENT THIS HOME! The house was not cleaned between renters. Trash was not taken out and attracted bears, food splatter all over the stove, leftover fish in the freezer, birthday decorations left in the dining room, dishes out on the counter and dirty sheets in the hamper. The BBQ was nasty, would never cook on it; looks like it's never been cleaned. DO NOT BRING A TRAILER. The description says trailers / boats are allowed, but the road to get to the house is horrible and has an extremely tight U-turn with a deep ditch on both sides. Once you get to the house you can't turn your trailer around unless you have a tiny car and a very short trailer and it's still going to be very tight. The bathroom light switch tripped the breaker and blew the light bulb. We had to replace the bulb and find the breaker panel to get the lights back on, which meant accessing the crawlspace under the house and fighting a bees nest on the panel. Gas fire pit on the deck was out of propane, and not a usesable feature. No kitchen towels, minimal bath and hand towels and hard to host for 5 people with amenities provided. Empty shampoo and body wash bottles in showers in addition to big clumps of hair stuck to the shower wall. The neighbors have junk cars, tractors, stray dogs, etc on the road. Gave the host 2 weeks to make things right with a cleaning fee refund and was partially ignored, partially made progress. Quite unhappy with the house the host's handing of the situation.
House was clean and cute. There were spider webs in the living room and a ton of wasps outside. The deck off the living room was nice when you weren't running from the wasps. The upper deck, however, is terrifying. It's extremely wobbly. The beds were comfy and clean. There are three really creepy built in cabinet/crawl spaces. I wish they were locked. We ended up moving a dresser in front of the one in the master bedroom and blocking the one in the master closet with a bunch of luggage. The driveway was tricky to find since we arrived so late but was fine once we knew where it was. There is a fire table and a fire pit. The fire table didn't work. It would light and instantly go out even tho there was plenty of propane. The property manager was very easy to get in contact with and was very friendly. It is in the middle of BEAUTIFUL forest very close to Shasta Lake. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The views were worth everything.

From the owner: "Thank you for your thoughtful review—we’re so glad you enjoyed the home, the comfort of the beds, and the setting near Shasta Lake. The views and surroundings are truly special, and we’re happy that you came through in your stay. We appreciate you highlighting a few areas for improvement. The cobwebs and exterior pests are being addressed with our cleaning and pest control teams, and we’re arranging a prompt inspection of the upper deck to ensure everything is fully secure. We’re also checking the fire table so it operates consistently for future guests. Your note on the built-in spaces is well taken—we’re reviewing ways to make those feel more intentional and comfortable within the home. Thank you as well for the kind words about our property manager—we’ll be sure to share that. We appreciate the feedback and hope to welcome you back for an even more seamless stay."
