About the host
Hosted by Emma
Hi there, I'm Emma and I've called Melbourne home for the past 3+ years. I love to travel and stay in unusual places. Bonus if I'm able to bring my dog, Penny, too. I love sharing my Melbourne recs with guests.
Why they chose this property
We love this little pocket of Northcote, known as Westgarth. We're on the Fitzroy North side, so you can easily walk or tram to local faves such as Public Wine Shop and Edinburgh Gardens.
Closer to home (10-min walk), on the Westgarth end of High Street, you'll find great cafes, Melbourne's best yoga studio, a cinema, wine bars, and an organic grocery store.
We also have excellent walking and cycling trails just minutes from Villa Maria, including the Linear Park and the Capital City Trail—which goes all the way into the city—as well as Merri Creek Trail, ideal for dog walks.
We're situated between two tram lines: The 11, which goes south through Fitzroy into the city, and the 86, which heads north to Thornbury and Preston, or south to the CBD via Collingwood's Smith Street and Gertrude Street (two of Melbourne's coolest streets).
We're also a short stroll from Merri station, so you can be at Jolimont (for the MCG and the AO grounds) or Flinders Street in ~15 mins.

What makes this property unique
Our place is a typical Edwardian: The bedrooms are at the front of the property, with a long hallway connecting them to the lounge, kitchen, separate dining room, and bathroom. There's a door off the kitchen that leads to a fully fenced garden, as well as an exterior laundry. It's much wider than a typical Edwardian, however, and it's original features have been preserved—not renovated over.
