About the host

I moved to this area to escape city density. I fell in love with my property the minute my feet touched the ground seconds and purchased it that evening. Summer is the best with beach activities, the floral gardens and maximum enjoyment of the beautiful forested yard. The original owners used to run a goldsmith shop and made much of the town's local wedding jewelry. It is rare to the have the feeling of forest and flower gardens in the same space! I like the idea of others being able to benefit from forest and garden therapy and I hope my guests will enjoy all those features as much as I do. Swimming in the Arrow Lake at the near-by beach is serene and fun. Endless sand and dunes appear as the levels of the lake drop, for dogs walks and private swimming spots.

Why they chose this property

Rural country living is less crowded and simpler. Living life outdoors is the highlight. Evenings are quiet with beautiful sunsets, and there is always some interesting conversations and folks to meet at local coffee shops and in town. Nakusp has the most beautiful & famous perennial flower beds of any Kootenay town, designed and maintained by a local celebrity gardener. Many tourists can be seen on any day photographing them. The public beach is conveniently located in town next to a playground and spacious park for families. There are some great restaurants and eateries and coffeeshops with outdoor patios as well as a handmade chocolates shop!

What makes this property unique

Established flower gardens, a variety of wildlife, and native tree species. The property is graced with cooling breezes due to the grades and creek draw. The air is fresh and invigorating and evenings quiet and peaceful. Walking distance to many local beaches, and the golf course and nearby boat launch. A cider distillery is 20 minutes away with awesome food and many varieties of dry apple cider. Close to the Okanagan corridor to Vernon. If you are lucky you may see many astonishing moths like the Hummingbird moths that visit the Phlox flowers in the afternoon and evening. It is great to have the feeling of camping, the lake and golf, with the peace and serenity of your own space.
