Beautiful location and very peaceful. The cabin is very well kept and the lake was wonderful for fishing and swimming. The lily pad, kayaks, and boat were perfect for exploring the lake. My kids loved unplugging for a few days and had a great time.
This was our second time visiting Sue's place and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Very quiet and relaxing place. Hope to visit again soon!

What a Northwoods gem! This was our second stay at Sue's cabin and we will be back again! Fishing was great, the lake was quiet, the location is perfect. Very secluded but close enough to run in to town for necessities.

My family and I had a terrific stay at Susan's place. Check-In was a breeze and the location is stunning.
The drive in to the cabin is an adventure but it is worth it. Fishing is great and the cabin has everything you could need.
Unbeatable beautiful, peaceful lake views. Great cottage space. Owner was super nice and accommodating. A little bit remote from other area activities/attractions ( which was exactly what I was looking for).
Beautiful cabin set on a private lake with abundant fishing and forest setting. Our family had a relaxing weekend enjoying the lake by swimming and fishing. Sue was a fantastic host and the cabin had everything we needed. We had access to a paddle board, double kayak, paddle boat and canoe for exploring the lake and flowage. Also, the kids enjoyed fishing from the dock and swimming off the floating platform. Driveway is an adventure, but once you drove in, it was easier coming and going. Our family had a wonderful time. Highly recommend!

A group of long-time friends and I came for our annual fishing trip (our 2nd straight year coming here). We had a great time enjoying the outdoors, the quiet, and catching a whole lot of bass!
Really enjoyed our time there and would highly recommend.

Always glad to have such pleasant people who respect the cabin! You can come anytime, Casey! See you next year and have a safe and happy year ahead!
What a wonderful property.
Great fishing on the lake.
Plenty of room!
Well equipped kitchen.
Very remote location.
Only downsides were the rough terrain of driveway and host/owner being onsite in a pop up was weird

Tim,
Thank you for your review! I was so glad to have your family visit Hummingbird Haven.
I apologize for incorrect information about my being on site. When I first hooked up with VRBO I stated that I would not be on site. That was true because I did not arrive until midsummer. However, I forgot to change that after I arrived. Just for your information, there are many VRBOs where the owner is on site..I have stayed in some; my son in law has stayed in some also. But I apologize to you that you didn't expect my presence.
Stay well, be safe and enjoy the rest of this year!
Best,
Sue
We stayed at Sue’s cabin for 3 nights. Such a lovely place. It has 6 beds, liss of fun water stuff to keep you busy and is in a remote spot away from others. The lake is quiet. The number of hummingbirds saw is unbelievable. The cabin smelled so good, was super clean and just a lovely home away from home. We will be back.
Sue keeps a well stocked cabin. Anything we could have wanted and more! Great hospitality and an easy stay. Only note the driveway does need a 4x4 car or truck but it was majestic, private and felt like we had the lake to ourselves. Best fishing I've had in a long while! Crappie, bass and bluegill were the most caught. Thank you would stay again!

Thanks, Jamie, for your kind review!
I am thrilled that you caught fish but then, I knew they are in the lake!
I'm sorry that the road might not have been kind to you...I drive my Honda Odysessy over it and take it slow but I thought someone had fixed it better this year. I think I will have to have it graded a bit....
CAn you send me the picture of the 14" crappie? I want to put it on the VRBO photo page? Thanks, Sue
Enjoyed this weekend getaway with adult children. Beautiful place and plenty of room for everyone. Had fun fishing even though we did not catch anything. Canoed/kayaked to Big Crooked Lake loved the enchanting connection to lake. The weather was a little rainy and chilly but the gnome search and hide kept us all entertained! The road in is a little challenging but once at hummingbird Haven you do not want to leave!

Anne, thanks for taking the time to review HH! You are the first people ever who have not caught fish but maybe it was the weather. I am having the Road bulldozed as soon as I get there but it's too late for your car! Sorry about that!😞
A small group of longtime friends got together for a 3-day weekend of fishing. An excellent time was had by all. We had good luck catching fish (particularly some big largemouth bass).
The cabin and location did not disappoint at all. A quiet and beautiful area! The host Sue was wonderful to work with and was quick to answer any question or help needed. Will definitely be returning in the future!

Thank you, Casey , for you kind review! It sounded like you caught some good fish..any worth mentioning with a pic that I could post of VRBO?
PLEASE THINK OF ME FOR NEXT YEAR. I am happy because YOU are happy with your stay.
Stay well and safe.
Best,
Sue
Sue’s cabin is a perfect getaway. The location is beautiful and removed from the typical up north hub bub. Views of the lake from the cabin are so relaxing. The lake is lovely for swimming and paddling and the Lilly pad, dock and swimming platform are all great. We appreciated being able to shift into 4-wheel drive on the long driveway. The kitchen is well stocked and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. Sue is a great communicator.
Sue's cabin was the perfect location for our fall getaway, especially this year. It is one of the most secluded spots we've ever been. Sue was right on the property, and available whenever needed (including when we locked ourselves out) 🤭. As mentioned, the driveway is long, and rough, but we managed fine. We didn't get a chance, but the lake would be great to explore in kayaks and canoe. Just an incredibly remote, quiet and peaceful spot!

Thanks, Beth! I appreciate your kind and informative review. Did you contribute a green scissor to the cabin? I don't recall buying that item....
Anyway, stay safe and best wishes for the coming year. Hope to see you next year.

Loved our stay at Sue's place! She is a gem and you can tell this place is special to her. It's very secluded with only 4 other cabins on the lake. The driveway to get to the cabin is an adventure. Hummingbirds and loons galore. Her amenities like the row boat, kayak, and paddle board are a bonus. A fantastic place to get away from this crazy world and spend some time with family. Probably our best hostess ever! Would definitely recommend if you want to get away from everything!

Julie, Earl and Mariah,
It was a real pleasure to have you visit Hummingbird Haven! And meeting your nice family for me was a real Godsend! You come back anytime..would love to have you..and the pontoon is working fine. Thanks, Earl! Thanks for the nice review! be safe and well. Sue
Cabin was awesome with every amenity needed for a comfortable stay. Lake was perfect for kayaking, swimming, and fishing. Make sure to know your directions before getting close. Google maps sent us to the wrong address on the other side of the lake. Mosquitoes were thick, but expected being in the woods of Northern Wisconsin, just bring spray. We definitely recomend the cabin/ property for a nice quite vacation away.
I’ve stayed in several cabins Up North over my lifetime, and this is the best one! It’s more beautiful, indoors and out, than photos can show. It’s immaculate, spacious, yet perfectly comfortable. It’s wheelchair friendly so everyone can feel right at home.
We felt like we had the whole lake and woods all to ourselves. Sue is an excellent host! She even provided us with extra peanuts to feed the chipmunks, who will eat right out of your hand.
The last bit of road on the way to the cabin is rough, but worth the journey. Once you get there, you’ll never want to leave, anyway! We’ll be going back as soon as we can.
Overall, it was a great stay! The cabin was clean and cozy, even better than in the pictures. Kitchen and grill were well stocked with all the basic cooking utensils and dishes, etc.
The lake itself is beautiful and quiet with only a handful of homes. It's also loaded with fish (bluegill, crappie, bass). The canoes and kayaks on site were a great bonus.
Outdoor area and fire pit were also very pleasant, although the mosquitoes were pretty aggressive, as expected.
The owner lives on site about 30 yards away from the cabin, but maintained privacy during our stay. Was quick to answer any questions and was overall very friendly and accommodating.
Only downsides were that guests were required to bring their own bedding and carry out their own trash. And, as others have mentioned, the driveway is an issue. Would not recommend for vehicles with low ground clearance.
Overall, a wonderful option for a quiet getaway!

About the host
Hosted by Sue
This cabin has been a family cabin since 1957 and we love living in this quiet, pristine location. You would love what it has to offer...about as much as the family loves it! You are invited to enjoy the north woods and all it has to offer by visiting Hummingbird Haven.....and it is called that for a reason! The hummers love coming to it also. They are so much fun to watch as they swirl around the cabin deck chairs, windows, etc. They are territorial feeders so that means they argue and chase each other away from their feeders! Come see for yourself and leave all your cares behind!!!
Why they chose this property
This is a quiet, serene, pristine lake/cabin where you can reside without the influence of the world. It is just plain one of a kind.
What makes this property unique
Very remote on lake...very quiet and peaceful! You will want to come back to this unique location away from everything!
