The Cabin
With space to comfortably sleep up to 10 adults, Hard Day Hideaway is ideal for families, groups of friends, or solo adventurers. The open layout, rustic charm, and walkout basement leading right to the lake make it a relaxing and functional retreat for every season.
Enjoy your morning coffee or evening wine on the spacious deck with sweeping views of the crystal-clear, sand-bottom lake. And when the stars come out, gather around the lakeside fire pit for s’mores and stories.

The cabin was just what we needed to UTV ride for a few days. Very close to the trails. The lake was so nice. The shallow sandy bottom would be great for a family get away in the Summer months. We enjoyed our stay and Kari made check in and out very easy and she answered questions we had before checking in.

Great place to stay

Overall it was a great place to stay. Even with rain we were able to have a good time as a family. The bedrooms are smaller than you would generally expect but the cabin was good and fairly well setup.

We cannot thank this property’s host Kari enough for making our stay so comfortable and amazing! The cabin was well stocked with everything one could need & cozily decorated! The host went out of her way to make this property very appealing & relaxing! Communication was easy informative. I highly recommend the Hard Day Hide Away Cabin!

The bedrooms were much smaller compared to what the pictures look like the cupboardm that was holding the pans had a piece missing so the top shelf was always falling down the hill on the side of the house was very difficult. People could not walk down it without falling, so the only way that we could have a nice time outside is to walk through the basement and out to the patio same way you’ve had to enter through the basement to go up into the house that was actually dangerous on the bright side. The beach was lovely. It was a nice sandy beach. it was only about a foot and half deep at the end of the pier which was fantastic for the grandkids to play in again they said they did have life preservers there, and there was only one adult life preserver. They had four or five kayaks and only three paddles so as an overall reading, I would give it a C. . also, there is a garbage can by the shed to the side of the house, and when it was opened to dispose of the garbage, it was filled with a swarm of bees.

Thank you for your feedback on the cabin. We’re glad to hear that the grandkids enjoyed the lake and sandy beach. It truly is a wonderful spot for children, with shallow water that makes it especially enjoyable for families. The cabin has a walkout basement with direct access to the lake, as well as access around either side of the cabin. One of the three routes to the lake does include a steeper hill, so we recommend using the walkout basement or the other side of the cabin, which has a much more gradual incline to the water. Regarding the garbage, guests are provided check-in information directing them to use the dumpster located at the beginning of the driveway for all trash disposal. The garbage can mentioned in the review is not intended for guest use. Regarding life jackets, you contacted us prior to check-in to ask about them, and we let you know that life jackets were available at the property. We also recommended bringing your own if you needed specific sizes or a particular quantity for your group. We appreciate your feedback and are always looking for ways to improve the experience for future guests. We’re happy that, despite some concerns, your family was able to enjoy the beautiful lake and beach.

Very cute cabin. Nice and quiet area. Lots of space for our family - the kids likes all the beds. My only complaint is that I wish they had shoveled the drive way. We got in later so maybe it had been but it was a pain to have to shovel our way into the house from the driveway area. Otherwise they had lots of everyday things that many forget on trips so that was a bonus.

The property was very nice. Everything you could possible need was there. The weather however prevented us from enjoying any water activities. Or having a fire in the evening. But that’s life in the UP!!

Beautiful cabin right on the lake.

Just stayed two nights. rented a canoe from a place up the highway as there is no boat on the property. lake is beautiful but had minimal success fishing. everything you may need is included and there is plenty of room inside and out. would highly recommend this property if you want to be on the water. took one day and went to Pictured Rocks which is not too far

Deer Hunting

This property would seem to work better for families with small children. We were a 'all adult' group and the bedrooms were very small. No closets for storage. In the upstairs bathroom, i noticed dirt in the corners next to the heat register. The dryer and dishwasher running at the same time would trigger the circuit breaker to go off. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and supplies. Maybe a door on the downstairs bedroom and laundry room. Jim & Gilda Chie

My husband and I are born and raised in the Upper Peninsula. After my husbands 8 years in the Marine Corps, we moved back to our hometown. We spend our time working, raising three kids and filling the little time between those two with our friends and family. Like most families, we know how precious time can be and this lead us to purchasing a cabin to enjoy as a family.

Why they chose this property

As a former military family, we have been fortunate enough to travel the coasts of the United States and know firsthand how beautiful different areas of the country are. After staying in cabins in Big Bear, CA and the Shenandoah Mountains in Virginia, we knew we wanted to own a cabin ourselves. This lead us back to our native Upper Peninsula where in 2020 we fulfilled our dreams of purchasing a beautiful Lake Cabin.
