About this property

Cedar Forest Cabin - Cozy, Private Forest Retreat

About this space
Cedar Forest Cabin is a compact, rustic two-level cabin tucked into 5 private acres of cedar forest, located 15 minutes from Castlegar and 24 minutes from Nelson. Designed for one or two guests, it offers a cozy, intimate space for those who enjoy a simpler style of forest accommodation rather than a large, traditional home.
The cabin is small by design and has a unique layout. The main-floor ceiling is 6'4"; taller guests should consider this when deciding if the space will be comfortable for them. A steeper staircase leads to the upper level, where the sleeping area is arranged in an open-concept loft beneath the barn-style roof. The sides of the upper floor have lower ceiling height, and the bedroom and 3-piece bathroom are part of the open layout rather than being separated by a hallway or bedroom door.
This creates a cozy and intimate space with limited privacy, making the cabin especially well suited to a couple or solo traveller. Photos throughout the listing show the layout, staircase and proportions of the space so you can get a good sense of what to expect before booking.
What makes Cedar Forest Cabin special is its simplicity. You'll be surrounded by cedar forest and nature, with your own private little space to slow down, relax and enjoy a different kind of getaway. Whether you're looking for a quiet retreat after a day of exploring the West Kootenays, a romantic escape, or simply a peaceful place to reconnect with nature, we invite you to settle in and enjoy the experience.
If you appreciate rustic character, intimate spaces, privacy and being surrounded by nature, this little cabin may be just what you're looking for.

It's a dream like little cottage. Would highly recommend. I traveled solo and it was perfect for me to explore the whole area. Spotlessly clean and has absolutely everything you could need. Loved it.

About the host

Hosted by Meghan Paterson

Host profile image
We are a family of four who live here on our acreage and enjoy sharing this special piece of the West Kootenays with others. We love the quiet, natural setting we get to call home and enjoy the simple pleasures of living close to the land.
We have created Cedar Forest Cabin as a place where guests can have their own private space while still experiencing a little of what life here is like. As hosts, we're happy to share local suggestions or help if you need anything, while also respecting that some guests come here specifically for peace and privacy.

Why they chose this property

We chose this area because of the incredible combination of forest, mountains, lakes and small communities that make the West Kootenays such a special place to live. We love being surrounded by nature while still being close enough to Castlegar and Nelson to enjoy the restaurants, shops, galleries, trails and other things the area has to offer.
For us, the best part is being able to step away from the busyness of everyday life and into the quiet of the forest. There is always something to explore here, whether you're looking for hiking and outdoor adventure or simply a beautiful place to slow down and breathe.

What makes this property unique

Cedar Forest Cabin offers a very different kind of accommodation experience. It is a small, rustic cabin tucked into five private acres of cedar forest, with nature surrounding you and a quiet, intimate atmosphere that is difficult to find in more traditional accommodations.
The cabin has its own character and was designed around the idea of simple forest living rather than being a conventional home away from home. You'll hear the chickens during the day, see and hear the natural activity of the forest, and share the property with Willow, our livestock guardian dog.
It's a place for people who enjoy rustic character, simplicity, privacy and being immersed in nature — and who appreciate the opportunity to experience something a little different.
