Other things to note
One of Oakville’s oldest communities situated in an idyllic waterfront location
Comprising the Village of Bronte — and the neighbourhoods surrounding it — Oakville’s Bronte community is one of the area’s oldest. Prior to becoming part of Oakville, the area was recognized as its own town. Bronte is widely known and loved for its coveted location on Lake Ontario. For generations, residents have enjoyed this gorgeous natural resource. Boating, fishing, and other watersports continue to be popular area activities.
Exploring Bronte’s residential areas, one will discover a picturesque suburban community. What’s unique about this neighbourhood is the eclectic variety of architectural styles used. Since this is a more established community, everything from Victorian-style properties to modern designs is found in town. This one-of-a-kind blend further adds to the style and character of the neighbourhood.
What to Love
A most established community in the area
Peaceful suburban neighbourhood
Awe-inspiring lakefront locale
Boating and fishing
Bronte Beach Park
Local Lifestyle
Sprawling and all-encompassing, Bronte provides everything residents need and want to live life to the fullest. Boasting a lakefront locale, scenic community parks, convenient access to shopping and dining, and top-rated schools, locals have access to it all. While there are some neighbourhoods in Oakville that have historic homes from the 1800s (such as Old Oakville), none hold the title of being the area’s oldest community. Established and full of character, it is no surprise that this area is so sought-after.
Dining, Entertainment & Shopping
Bronte has a thriving shopping and dining district. Located along Lakeshore Road, treat yourself to an array of cuisines and shopping experiences.
Immerse yourself in the amazing selection of restaurants found in the neighbourhood. Both on and around Lakeshore Road, there is a never-ending list of establishments from which you can choose. Residents highly recommend certain restaurants in the area, including Cuba's Restaurant, The Wine Bar, La Parisienne Crêperie, Pizza Pienza, Bronte Fish & Chips, and Plank Restobar.
This same bustling commercial district is also lined with a great collection of stores and boutiques. Stop into stores such as Denninger's Foods of the World (featuring gourmet groceries), Wheels Of Oakville, Margo's Flowers, Bronte Flowers & Gifts, and My Back Shed antique shop.
Things to Do
Bronte is packed full of attractions, entertainment, and merriment. Having a fun day of leisure is never any trouble for area locals.
Easily, the biggest draw to the area is the waterfront. Located along Lake Ontario, those who enjoy spending time on or near the water can do so any day of the week. Two of the most popular spots along the lake are Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park and Bronte Beach Park. Both deliver breathtaking views of the landscape. They also feature walking paths and trails, and nearby boat access. Sheldon Creek Park and South Shell Park are additional places to soak in vistas of the lakefront.
Inland, Bronte has even more for its residents to do and see. Offering a variety of activities — such as sports courts, biking paths, and playgrounds — must-visit parks include Creek Path Woods, Nautical Park, Village Wood Park, and Lawson Playground.
