Welcome to Mount Carmel Farm and the Rustic Refuge, one of two cabins on the farm. Relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine while surveying views of White Oak Mountain and Saluda Ridge in the Blue Ridge Mountain foothills. The ‘Rustic Refuge’ Log Cabin is a cozy place to enjoy breakfast before heading to Main Street for antique shopping or Amish foods and furniture exploring. Have breakfast at Southern Manners, lunch at Hare and Hound, dinner at Soulisa’s and finish up with a glass of wine and live music at Overmountain Winery, Mountain Brook Winery or The Red Horse Inn. Dog friendly cabin with fully fenced backyard only thirteen scenic miles from Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC).
Or, take a hike—short or long—to enjoy Green River Gorge, Blue Wall Preserve, Campbell Covered Bridge or Pearson Falls and whip up your own cuisine at the cabin. Ingles has a plentiful grocery selection and O’Darbys staff can provide informed guidance on the spirits—between the two you are sure to find everything you need.
Or just soak up some slow-down time, watch the sheep meander in the pasture, read a good book, waft the mountain air, listen to the birds or stargaze the foothills big sky. You will find the kitchen is well equipped with all the essentials and many of the nice to have extras—such as blender, griddle, wok, and more.
There are many other coffee and dining options, the favorites include Southside Smokehouse, Sidestreet Pizza, Brooks Tavern, Trade Street Creamery, Buck n Brew, Openroad Coffee House, Katie D’s NY Bagels, Caro Mi’s, Stone Soup, Harvest House and more.
See VRBO 3942030 for Restoration Station, an additional option on the Mount Carmel Farm. May add second cabin (2 bedrooms, 2 baths) for larger groups.

Fantastic stay. Perfect location with a great view. Our dogs were able to run around the fenced in back yard and there was plenty of room for us. Would absolutely recommend
The Rustic Refuge was the perfect size and location for our trip. The mountain view from the back porch was great. Perfect place to relax after sight seeing and visiting family in the area.
This cabin is perfect for a good morning view, night sleep and proximity to all places. The beds were comfortable and a good morning coffee with a view of the mountains was just what we needed. Lots of amenities to help cook as well.
This was our 3rd stay and we are booked for a 4th in October. This is becoming our home away from home—the perfect location for visiting family. Close to everything, clean and comfortable.

Hey Cyndy, you are why we do this. We love the sound of the farm. A favorite spot has been the little back porch over looking the back field and White Oak Mountain, and we enjoy being able to share this. Y'all were just the second visitor to the Rustic Refuge and we are so grateful you find it worthy to return to. For your October trip sweet Golden Delicious apples will be ripe for picking just a short piece up the road in Hendersonville.
I loved Dimitri’s Greek Italian Restaurant. We traveled a lot through the mountains and enjoyed the Mountain view. Getting to eat outside on the back porch was nice.
This was a beautiful cabin with great views. The bed was very comfortable. The area was super quiet and felt secluded even though other cabins were in view. I highly recommend staying here
This was our fourth visit this year, and it has become our home away from home. Larry and Kim make you feel welcome; the cabin is ALWAYS clean and ready for your stay. The location is perfect for our family visits as well as other places to visit.
This cabin has everything you need plus a mountain view. Perfect for a couple or small family. Very convenient to get to town. One of the nicest small cabins we have stayed at.
We enjoyed our stay. From the lovely deck with great views to the fun mountain cabin vibe we had everything we needed for our 8 night stay. Great location and easy access to a lot of activities. We would definitely return!
We had a fabulous time at the Rustic Refuge cabin, which is in a quiet, peaceful environment. There are many nice restaurants nearby, or you can cook your meals in the well-equipped kitchen or use the provided outdoor grill. We will visit the Rustic Refuge again.
This cozy cabin was the perfect weekend getaway for my son and I. It was cozy with lots of room on the outside. The views were beautiful and our dogs loved the fenced in area leading off the porch. We hope to come back again and again!
We have a daughter who lives in Landrum and we were 5 minutes from her and her husband. The location was beautiful and we loved the fenced back yard as we took our dog. I am hoping I can stay there again in the future. We enjoyed it very much!!!

About the host
Hosted by Larry and Kim Phillips
We are from South Carolina and have loved all that our home state offers from the beaches to the mountains. We are thoroughly blessed to live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Upstate. We are new to Hobby Farming and have begun sheep farming in the past year. Our small farm is home to Black Belly Barbados Sheep as well as two very domesticated German Shortharied Pointer pups. We have a large family who also are nature enthusiasts.
Why they chose this property
Landrum is a great little town still charming in all the ways we remember small town USA. Landrum's slower pace and friendly welcoming feel brought us joy from the first day. Landrum's proximity to so many wonderful surrounding areas, made it the perfect fit to frequent Hendersonville, Asheville, Greenville and all the benefits, sites and scenes they offer.
What makes this property unique
Rustic Refuge is unique in that it offers privacy from traffic and yet still close to very close to town. Also, although the Rustic Refuge is very easy to get to and no significant grades to access it, in comparison the mountain views are spectacular.
