We could not ask for a better location! Very close to food/shops to the north and not far from Sanibel to the south. The beach was beautiful! The house was…different. Not bad but layout was odd. Only one bedroom accessible from inside the main house. 2 additional bedrooms accessible from the deck and 2 more in the pool house. Good for adults, maybe not so great with children.For the price of the house, we expect a bit more. A toilet paper dispenser fell off the wall, a bathroom faucet fell off, nothing major we could not handle. The door locks were challenging to operate, at a minimum. The Master BR lock appeared to have been, at some point the target of a break in and we could not lock it fully.This was also the first rental any of our party could recall that had NO food if any kind left from previous tenants. Usually things like Salt/Pepper, maybe some coffee filters or plastic wrap have been left behind. We found nothing. We did not mind buying it, and we left ours behind but I am not sure that it will not be removed by the cleaning staff. It would be nice to have a few basic supplies.Lastly, be sure to have and wear foot wear anywhere on the expansive deck. Even being careful, there were many splinters removed on our trip. Be sure to have a removal kit available. For the price of the rental, We would have expected the deck to have been better maintained. Overall we had a great trip but a few things could have been better for the cost.

Thank you for your valuable feedback regarding Sandpiper. We agree that Sandpiper has a unique and somewhat quirky layout due to the age and original design of the home. We appreciate you bringing the maintenance concerns to our attention, and we want you to know that these issues have been addressed or are currently being addressed. Regarding the food items left behind, Florida statutes governing vacation rentals do not permit opened food products from previous guests to remain in the property for future guests. As a result, any opened items must be removed during the turnover process. We will also investigate the deck concern you mentioned. This is the first time the issue has been brought to our attention, and we are grateful that you took the time to let us know. Thank you again for your feedback. We value your input as it helps us improve the guest experience. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Captiva in the future.
