This was such a beautiful cabin, so much to do and amazing views. However, the drive to the cabin was a bit rough even in a 4WD truck. Would recommend if they can handle the terrain.

Hi Brooklyn, David and I are sorry that you had trouble driving up the mountain. The title of our listing mentions high elevations and we explain that 4WD is needed. If a property is located at the top of a mountain, as ours is, obviously one must make a climb up on mountain roads. There is absolutely no reason, with the exception of driver inexperience, that a person could not drive up the mountain in a 4WD vehicle, A few weeks back, a guest contacted us to ask if they could drive a Tesla up the mountain. We told them that we only recommend 4WD. He did it anyway and had no problem at all. The difference is driver knowledge. You drive in low gear, at a steady speed and do not stop in the middle of a climb. Simple as that. David and I work hard to keep Elk Ridge in top condition and we keep the nightly rates low on purpose. We want to provide a place with spectacular views and amenities that most folks can afford to enjoy. We hope you will continue to venture onto the mountains and become more comfortable driving on them. After all, if you want the best views, you must make the climb. Happy trails to you. David and Amy
This property was exactly as described. The cabin was super clean and well appointed with all we needed for our stay. We had a couple questions which we sent to the owners who responded quickly. This is definitely a place we'd book again for a future trip.
This cabin was an awesome experience. The hosts provided us with all the information we needed. It was clean, beautiful, and private. Amazing balcony views of the mountains. Would highly recommend!!

Thanks, Brendan! We are so happy that you guys enjoyed your time at Elk! Please come back if your travels bring you to the Smoky Mountains again! David & Amy
This cabin is GORGEOUS. It’s a bit of a scary drive up the mountain (be prepared for STEEP driving, on rocky roads), but once you arrive it is pristine. Literally felt like paradise to us. The views are completely unmatched. Thank you so much & we hope to return.

Great house with views! Very well stocked kitchen and amenities. It is quite a drive to the house so SUV or 4x4 is highly recommended!

Amanda, We love your snowmen!!! Great pics! The snow has been so beautiful this winter. Thank you for the review! Come back again sometime. David and Amy
Second time we have stayed here and once again we absolutely loved it! The road up to the cabin can be a little sketchy but definitely worth the travel. This time it snowed a bit and the views are incredible! Sunsets are beautiful and star gazing at night is incredible. I am sure we will continue to visit here as it is one of our favorite places.

Thanks for your kind review, Christopher! We appreciate you as a repeat guest! It has snowed several times so far, this year and it is so pretty. Next time you book, let us know it is your 3rd time. We’d like to do a little something for you.😊 David and Amy
Awesome place to stay. Very clean and organized. I was able to find everything I needed easily. The owners had a paper notebook that was labeled with an index so that you could figure out anything you needed such as how to work the TV, etc. Attention to detail including cold glasses in the freezer and large matching beach towels in a basket by the door closest to the hot tub. Furniture, decor, dishes, etc. were very nice. Fireplace was very easy to use and very warm. Views were amazing. Trip up and down the mountain is not for the faint of heart! But was worth it! Would highly recommend

We currently spend most of our time on the east coast of Florida, but spend the summers in Bryson City. We both love North Carolina, especially Bryson City and the Great Smoky Mountains. We bought Elk Ridge Summit as our second home and decided to share it with others when we were not there. The views are magical and the cabin is spacious, yet cozy. We loved it so much that when we had an opportunity to purchase another lot on the mountain, we jumped at the chance! We have now built the home that we currently spend summers in right on the same mountain as Elk Ridge Summit!
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Elk Ridge Summit immediately! When you drive up the hill into our driveway you will see why. That view is just magnificent!
What makes this property unique
If you enjoy relaxing on a deck and gazing at multiple mountain layers, especially at sunrise with a cup of coffee or a glass of your favorite wine at sunset, Elk Ridge Summit will not disappoint. Once the sun sets, the stars illuminate so bright, time will stand still, not to mention all the fun you will have counting the satellites flying over head.
