About this property

Large charming villa & typical of the Belgian Coast

Villa for 8 people, dating back to 1902 and renovated in November 2020.
Villa Caroline (formerly Villa Dillens, designed/built by the sculptor who contributed to the Grand Place in Brussels) is one of the oldest houses in St-Idesbald and is located in a quiet street, close to the beach and shops.
We've kept its authentic character while offering you all the comforts of today (fully-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, Wifi, TV (Netflix etc), double glazing, washing machine, ...).
There's a bathroom with a separate shower and bath and another shower in one of the bedrooms, plus a washbasin in another bedroom and two separate toilets in the house.

The large garden runs around the house with two terraces (table/chairs and parasol) and a “dune” rebuilt in 2023 (the garden is not entirely fenced). Small pets allowed, but please let us know in advance.
Bed linen and towels can be provided for all rooms (extra fee).
Consumptions are included in the rental fee.
A child's high chair is available (no bed).

Bikes can be parked in the garage (not locked) and private parking in the drive way is possible for up to 3 cars. Other vehicles must be parked in the adjacent streets.

Lovely villa close to the sea

We spent a week in this lovely and nicely decorated villa close to the Belgian shore. The house has 5 bedrooms (one with a private shower and basin, a second one with a basin), one additional bathroom with tub and shower and 2 separate toilets. It’s a cute and old style house with rooms on many levels which was not a problem for us but might have to be considered by others. All equipment you could think of is available (e.g. bikes, windshield for the beach). This was a truly an additional benefit. Small shops (e.g. a bakery) are just around the corner, the beach is 5-10 minutes away (walking) and a large supermarket just minutes with the car. The communication with the owner was friendly and uncomplicated even though we never met. We would definitely go there again and recommend it to others.

Ein Hausmit allen Möglichkeiten für eine Großfamilie mit mehreren Generationen.Oma, Opa, Kinder und Enkel haben sich sehr wohl gefühlt. Es gibt beides: Spielmöglichkeiten und Rückzugsmöglichkeiten. Ein altes Haus mit vielen Stufen zu den Schlafzimmern - dementsprechend nicht behindertengerecht. Aber vorsichtig modernisiert: Tolle Küche, schöne Loggia.Sehr liebevole und geschmackvolle kleine Accessoires.Tolle Lage fußläufig zum Strand. Sparladen ganz in der nähe und großer Supermarkt am Stadtrand.Wir würden es wieder buchen

Tranquillité dans une maison d’exception

Nous avons passés une agréable semaine en famille dans une villa de charme décorée avec goût. La situation est idéale, près de la plage et des commerces dans une ruelle calme. L’équipement de la cuisine est optimal. Toutes les chambres ont une bonne literie. Excellent contact avec le propriétaire.

Ontspannen met het ganse gezin in St-Idesbald

De mooie woning is perfect gelegen in een rustig straatje. Winkels dichtbij, zee dichtbij en toch een heel rustige buurt. Goede uitvalbasis ook om de streek te verkennen. We waren met 8 volwassenen en 2 kindjes van ongeveer 1,5 j. Het huis was heel geschikt voor onze groep en had een goed uitgeruste keuken, het enige minpuntje is dat er wel 2 toiletten zijn maar dat er een echt te klein is om als volwaardig toilet gebruikt te worden. Als we nog eens richting de Westhoek gaan zullen we terug voor deze woning kiezen :-)

Ein sehr schönes Haus!

Das Haus von Caroline war für unseren Urlaub ganz wunderbar und hat dazu beigetragen, dass wir die Tage bescheidenen Wetters trotzdem entspannt genießen konnten. Das Grundstück ist schön es gibt innen wie außen hinreichend Sitzmöglichkeiten und in nur fünf Minuten ist man am Meer (was ja wohl im Regelfall der Grund für die Buchung darstellt). Natürlich habe ich auch Anmerkungen, die hier in anderen Kommentaren schon geschrieben wurden und die bei der Gastgeberin auch schon angekomen sind. Das WC unten ist im Erdgeschoss ist wirklich eng - das macht gesunden Menschen wirklich gar nichts, wäre aber vielleicht - je nach Mobilitäts- und Bewegungsmöglichkeiten der Gäste - einer Erwähnung in der Beschreibung wert. Ferner wären ein paar Geschirrtücher in der Küche ganz nett (darauf waren wir durch andere Kommentare vorbereitet) und zuletzt waren wir zunächst etwas erschreckt über die ausführliche Inventarliste - da hat Caroline mir geschrieben, dass die überarbeitet wird! Schön wäre auch, wenn auf der deutschsprachigen Seite noch der Aufpreis für Bettwäsche und Handtücher zu finden wäre. Das sind aber Klagen auf hohem Niveau! Das Haus ist für unseren Geschmack so mit das schönste weit und breit, liegt wunderbar ruhig in einer Seitenstraße, die Zimmer sind groß und schön eingerichtet, es funktioniert alles und es fehlt einfach an nichts! Auch der Kontakt zur Gastgeberin war sehr gut und prompt! Vielen Dank und Grüße aus der Eifel Ulli

Indeed the inventory needs to be shortened and more 21st century than the paper based… I have tried to get the German site updated (and the Dutch one too) but vrbo have not been very helpful as they offer no solution and I am unable to access these myself. Schönes Haus mit Platz für 10

Das Haus ist gut zu finden und der Kontakt mit Caroline ist freundlich und einfach. @Caroline: Merci d‘avoir partagée ta maison avec nous. Das Haus liegt so wie beschrieben unweit vom Strand entfernt nur wenige Meter im Zentrum von Sint-Idesbald. Wir waren zu siebt (Oma, Opa, Eltern und drei Teens). Das Haus ist so eingerichtet, dass man alles findet, was man benötigt. Selbstversorgung ist einfach, da die Küche super ausgestattet ist. Etwas schade ist der ungepflegte Garten und die in die Jahre gekommenen Gartenmöbel. Auch sollten die vielen defekten Gartenmöbel mal entsorgt werden. Bei der sehr hohen Miete die Bettwäsche und Handtücher extra zu berechnen und keine Küchenhandtücher bereit zu stellen, fanden wir schade. In Summe aber definitiv weiter zu empfehlen für große Familien oder kleine Gruppen.

Hübsches Haus mit kleinen Abstrichen

Positiv: - hübsche Villa, wie auf den Bildern - ruhige Lage in einer Seitenstraße / Wohngebiet - gut ausgestattete Küche - genug Platz für 10 Personen - im Haus befinden sich auch ein paar Spielsachen, Roller, Kohlegrill... - sehr kurzer Fußweg zum Strand - auf dem Grundstück können 2 Autos abgestellt werden - die Endabrechnung erfolgte umgehend Negativ: - nach der Buchung kamen Extrakosten für Handtücher, Bettwäsche und Energie dazu. Laut Beschreibung auf der deutschen Seite waren diese bereits inklusive - im April war es im Haus sehr kalt, wir mussten ordentlich heizen und dies wurde spitz abgerechnet - Die beiden Toiletten können nicht abgeschlossen werden. Eine von ist extrem klein (man stößt mit den Knien an die Tür) und hat kein Waschbecken - Bei Ankunft und Abfahrt musste eine Inventarliste ausgefüllt werden, bei der jedes Möbelstück und Dekoobjekt (und davon gab es einige) geprüft und abgehakt werden musste. Dies war sehr mühselig und übertrieben. - Es war zwar geputzt, unter den Betten etc. lag aber einiges an Staub. Neutral aber evtentuell wichtig für andere: - Der einzige Fernseher befindet sich nicht im Wohnzimmer sondern einem der Schlafzimmer. - Falls Bettwäsche selbst mitgebracht wird, benötigt man große Laken / Überzüge - Im Wäschepaket sind nur ein Händehandtuch und Geschirrtuch vorhanden, wir hatten zum Glück noch eigene mit

Thank you for your comments. House dates back to 1902 and has its charms. Indeed no keys on doors but you simply need to knock.. Re the heating etc, as mentioned to you, the French website is clear but the German one does not reflect the same wording. I have tried to get this corrected many times. You reserved the house when the prices of gas etc were extremely high so it is normal to charge for such consumptions. Re the prices these are the real ones as I extracted them from the ENGIE application so there is no surcharge. The mail was also clear - we only provide sheets and towels. And the inventory… well with time we have realised that if people have to confirm status etc they are far more carful with our belongings … we enjoy our house immensely and therefore wish it to remain nice and in order for when we are able to spend time in it with our family.

Schöne, ruhige Unterkunft

Das Haus hat alles, was man braucht - großzügige Schlafzimmer, voll ausgestattete Küche und entspannte Nähe zum Strand (unter 10 Minuten Fußweg). Die Kommunikation mit der Gastgeberin war zügig und unkompliziert. Wir haben uns wohlgefühlt.

En effet, la maison est construite dans une ancienne dune donc il y a déjà des escaliers pour arriver à l entrée et les chambres de trouvent sur trois étages. Il faut donc pouvoir monter légèrement. Top ausgestattetes Häuschen

Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit zu neunt in Carolines schönem Ferienhaus. Die schnuckelige Unterkunft ist mit allem ausgestattet, was man so gebrauchen kann (Decken, Musikanlage, wirklich alles an Küchenutensilien, Waschmaschine [kein Trockner], ein Arsenal an allerhand nützlichem Kram von Strandmuschel bis hin zu Werkzeug findet sich zudem im großen Keller), und war nur einen Katzensprung vom Meer entfernt (wenn man einen etwas weniger touristischen Bereich mit Dünen statt Beton wollte, musste man nur eine Viertelstunde den Strand hinuntergehen). Die Kommunikation mit der Gastgeberin hat prima geklappt: Caroline hat uns mit allen nötigen Infos versorgt und war total entgegenkommend. Auch wenn das Haus wirklich keine Wünsche offen lässt, sollte man nichts gegen Hellhörigkeit haben und die Dusche im großen Schlafzimmer besser nicht benutzen, da sie sehr schnell überläuft.

Maison de charme

La maison correspond parfaitement aux photos et à la description. Elle est idéalement située à côté du centre de Saint Idesbald, dans une ruelle calme. Toutes les pièces sont décorées avec goût. La literie est bonne. Les différentes terrasses permettent de profiter du soleil à toutes les heures de la journée. Je recommande cette location.
