Beach music

Enjoyed the proximity of the Sea Colony villa to the swimming pool and, most especially, the gorgeous ocean-front beach. The entire Sea Colony property outside our villa was impeccable. Highly recommend this community for a great family vacation.

Great view

Million dollar view, great location, and nice family location. This condo was not up to VRBO standards. The bed sheet had a nasty stain, the dining chairs were ready to break, the shower had mold growing, the seagull hanging ornament was never dusted, and the balcony had dried up spaghetti Os on it.

Two sides of a coin

The property was well maintained, location was good, the amenities were also good. I was extremely disappointed with the condition of the condo. I would come back to sea colony; but, I would pick another unit.

The location was great, but the condition was subpar. Although essentially clean, the carpet is badly stained, the kitchen cabinets are crooked, and some of the furniture is broken. It is also greatly in need of updating.

Great view. Condo in major need of improvements.

The view and porch were lovely. Outside of that this condo is in need of major updates. Beds uncomfortable. Kitchen pots and pans are awful. TV extremely small. Reasonable for on the ocean but still overpriced for the quality of this unit.

My experience

The unite was very nicely decorated from color of walls to pictures and furniture. Nice clean wall to wall carpet. Not one bug. Comfortable and clean beds and bedding and towels. Liked the dishes. The view was great. Had bad weather nearly the whole time but still had a good time because the unit was so nice. Temperature control worked great. Hot water was always abundant. I would be happy staying their again.

They own cats.

They did not disclose the unit was cat friendly and we had allergic reactions throughout our stay and had to fill rx. Vacasa was not forthcoming and the bathrooms were covered in hair all over the walls. It was disgusting

Don't do it!

Vacasa does not care about your vacation and when you call for help, they leave you hanging! Have been renting in Sea Colony for 26 years and never had problems like a broken fridge, mold in a bathroom, a broken washer, a light hanging from a ceiling, a drawer without a front. It is ridiculous. Why would I pay all this money to stay in a place that does not come close to my own home.

Needs Serious Update

The location and views are great. However, the owner has not invested in this property for years. The beds are flat and hard. Most lighting is by turning on lamps and is inadequate. Pots and pans are old and dirty. Kitchen cabinets look like they are about to fall down. Even the TVs are dated and small. Sea Colony is great but there are better options if you give yourself some time. Only take this one if it is the only one available which is why we got it. Gave 2 stars instead of zero based on Sea Colony in general and the location/views.

Great location, good condo- but keep in mind.

The Vacasa check in was great, the app gives you everything you need to know as you need to know it. Guest Servics was quick and helpful. The condo was very nice- spacious and well-kept. While it is not 'updated', it was completely functional and well laid out. We don't worry about 'finishings' but, I know others do so I include that information for those who are wondering. The condo was clean. We had to pick up garbage bags, dish washer detergent, laundry soap and dryer sheets (though we couldn't use it because it wasn't working), and basic hygiene. Not an issue for us- we just weren't sure what to expect as every rental can be different so, I include that for those checking reviews for planning purposes. We also had to grab basic spices- again, no issues- just something to keep in mind. The view was amazing. I liked being a little bit away from the hub-bub of the promenade. We aren't super socializers so it was great for us. The private beach was amazing. We used the gym across the way almost every day. We tried that pool over there too which was nice. The kids tried fishing, without much luck but there's opportunity for it. The location to other things to do wasn't bad at all - we'd rather drive a bit for a mix of entertainment and dining in order to have a quieter community.

Everything is broken

Pros: Sea Colony has a great location and the externals are great: beautiful views, well-maintained shared areas. The stars are for that. This unit + Vacasa = 0 stars. It's like I can feel the contempt for renters in every mismatched dish, every c. 1987 appliance; in the crooked cabinets, the broken washing machine, the busted kitchen drawer and shower door, the grotty bedspreads and wall-to-wall carpeting, and the smell of smoke that greets one upon entry. We documented the smell of smoke and the broken drawer, AND we had a repairman in for the washing machine. Spoiler: he couldn't fix it during our stay. We corresponded via text (an AI chatbot), a customer service rep who harassed me about hidden fees that didn't show up in the app until AFTER check in, and finally an in-person meeting with the staff in DE lest Vacasa populate a response saying that they wished I'd contacted them about these deficiencies during my stay. Reader, I DID. So, this unit is for you if you enjoy chatbots; have 80s nostalgia; or are a late booker and nothing else is available.

Location? Great. Condition and Cleanliness? Awful.

I have never been more disappointed with a rental unit from HomeAway than we were with this stay. The location is fantastic—right on the beach, gorgeous view, within the Sea Colony residences so lots to do. The condition of the condo and the cleanliness was deplorable. I couldn’t believe the rental company was allowing tennants to rent without upgrades. For example, the cabinetry in the kitchen literally was crooked and looked as if it could fall off the wall at any moment. There was mold on all of the shower heads and every single vent in every room. When we first walked in, I immediately noticed that the floors hadn’t been vacuumed from the previous tenant (sand everywhere, hair on the floors in the bathrooms) and that the linens hadn’t been washed (the comforters were literally yellow and the sheets had stain spots on them). So we called ResortQuest and told them all of this and they said I could throw the comforters in the wash and they would have someone out to bring new sheets and re-clean, soon. Because that’s what I wanted to do after a 5 hour drive with a 2 and 4 yo, wash linens that should have been cleaned prior to my arrival. To make things worse, the woman who showed up to clean did not vaccuum and when her boss arrived and I pointed this out, her boss proceeded to open the door to the utility closet to show ME where the vacuum was. Because the cleaner and linen folks are different, we didn’t get the clean linens until after 7pm (my 2 yo didn’t nap and this was pasts his bedtime which I implicitly told the woman who took my info at ResortQuest). For as expensive it is to rent at sea Colony for just one week, my expectations were that the place was at least as clean as a hotel room. I spent the entire first day and the beginning of the second morning cleaning the condo so that it was livable. Our allergies were through the roof (we are all allergic to dust and mold) and as I mentioned earlier, there was mold all over the condo. If the linens weren’t washed, you know the drapery has probably never been touched (confirmed when I opened the blinds in the master and a cloud of dust hit me in the face). It was disgusting. I’ll never rent from a ResortQuest-maintained place again.

Needs update!

Nice view from balcony, and you can't beat the convenience to the beach. But this was the last unit available (a few months out) in all of Sea Colony, practically. The reason is the carpet is old and worn out, the mattresses are cheap, the sleeping futon is janky, and the bathrooms and kitchen need updating. There is a stain of mold or dirt all around the main AC vent near the ceiling. Be careful with the dishwasher: it's unsecured so can tip over (forward) when loaded, if not careful. (toddler hazard). It's generally as clean as they can get it, it's just not a place that is welcoming to hang out in. Also -- the pots and pans are super old so bring your own if you don't want to be using an old battered aluminum pot or a non-stick pan with a severely scratched up surface.

Has seen better days

Everything in this condo is old, outdated and poor quality. Furniture is cheap, rooms are dimly lit, carpet is badly stained. Bedspreads have multiple stains-so gross! No batteries in TV remotes. Kitchen appliances are old, outdated. Cabinets are so warped that they are all hanging crookedly. Only thing this condo has going for it is the oceanfront view. Needs a total remodel or removed as a rental choice- not worth the money!

Don’t do it

This condo is badly in need of updates. For the $$$ paid during high season, the property should be stellar. Decades old stained carpet, stained bedspreads, wifi barely works, (wouldn’t load any web page but would load email), dimly lit kitchen, bath drain wouldn’t seal, the bed linens poor quality/very scratchy. The view is great, the couches were clean and comfortable. Seen better days.

Good location, bad kitchen

The kitchen cabinets were falling off. The tea kettle was rusted. There wasn’t a big sauté pan. The cast iron skillet had a thick gunk all over so I couldn’t use it. There wasn’t a bread knife (I bought one and left it in the drawer for the next renter). All the sauce pots were really old and nasty. The ceiling lights in the kitchen were not bright enough, was really dark in there. And please fix the toilet in the main bedroom bathroom, I had to open the tank and hold the seal down with my hand so that it would fill with water.

Place was not well cleaned

Disappointing how dirty the property was when we arrived. Vent was an oily black, ceiling fan had multiple layers of dust. Bathrooms were not well cleaned. Kitchen had a stove where there burners didn't sit flat. Pots and pans were 25 years old and gross. This was also during COVID19 when you would have expected better.

The view was beautiful and the condo was spacious and well cared for. We've actually stayed here twice now. The only downside was that all of the mattresses were incredibly uncomfortable. I ended up sleeping on the couch because it was better than the master bedroom mattress. Other than that, it was a great week!!!!
