Awesome views of the lake, great family gathering areas in the house and out on the large deck with BBQ grill. Direct lake frontage with dock makes this a great spot for fishermen and families alike. The cottage was clean and neat having everything we needed for our 10 day stay. Location allowed us to ride our bikes easily to the bike ferry, walk to town for dinner and fish from the dock at dusk. Very responsive property manager made this the perfect place for a Vermont getaway!
This a such beautiful camp with family history. The views incredible, we watched the sunset each night. The neighbors were wonderful. Our dogs had so much fun playing with their new friends. Launching the boat for the LCI couldn’t have been easier every day!
Really nice little cabin experience with all the quirks and charms you’d expect. We would return. Good idea for anyone traveling with toddlers or small, blind dogs (like us) to bring a baby gate at minimum because the steps and design of the upstairs railing are not safe for crawlers, walkers, or little dogs with cataracts.
Overall great and relaxing lodging on Lake Champlain! Glad we found you. Thank you. A couple of suggestions:1. Having a broom and a few more cleaning supplies could be helpful for use in the kitchen bathroom. 2. Typed and organized/itemized house rules and as well as suggestions for area restaurants, points of interest, etc.3. FYI, tile in front of the bathtub are coming loose.Hope the above is helpful. Thank again. Had a wonderful time.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves despite bad weather all week. The property is as described. The view was lovely and we appreciated how quiet the neighborhood was. We cooked most of our meals. The kitchen was well-stocked in terms of dishes, cutlery, pots & pans. The only potential issue is that the stairs to the 2nd floor bedrooms are very steep, as others have noted, and our dog wasn’t able to climb them. Other than that, the place was very comfortable and it was great to get away.
South hero and Grand Isle in general is a hidden gem. It’s a beautiful farmland, speckled with all the supplies you might need for a lovely time. The house itself is a really cool craftsman throwback to the 60s. There are pictures up of how the owners constructed the building and they did a fantastic job. The location on Keeler Bay is really great because Lake Champlain can be pretty moody and directly reflects my new changes in the weather. Keeler Bay provides a little protection from that and we had a great time on our kayak and standup paddleboard and caught a bunch of little tiny fish right off the dock. The house accommodated our family of four well and we could have also included another small family of maybe three, as long as one pair of adults don’t mind sleeping separately on bunk beds. The kitchen provided everything we needed to cook most meals. I would recommend bringing your own sauces, condiments, olive oil, and like.
All in all we had a great time and it was easy to be there and enjoy the lake in the country atmosphere. Thank you, Gone fishing!
We were a family group of 6 adults and one dog. We fit well in the house, although one couple had to sleep in the twin bunk room. As stated on the website, the stairs to the upper floor and rail along the hall there could be a danger to small children (could potentially fall if they climbed under the rail). We were happy to find that the house has a half bath upstairs and a full bath downstairs (website said one bath at the time). House has a camp feel -- not luxurious, but very homey and comfortable.
Air-conditioning was much appreciated. The panel of windows that provides a super view allows the sun to heat up the house in the afternoon. We also used the heaters during one cold and rainy day.
Lovely location. In a neighborhood, so this isn't a party place, which suited us. No campfires allowed. The dirt road made for some nice dog walks with only a rare car passing
The shore was weedy and pretty shallow, but we were easily able to secure our 17 foot fishing boat at the end of the dock. Much fun kayaking and fishing and even some wetsuit snorkeling. The birdwatching at the marsh close by was amazing.
The house had a large selection of indoor games and puzzles for rainy days. All in all, a great stay!
We were very pleased with the accommodations. Unbeatable lake view out the big wall of windows. All the cooking essentials we needed especially the gas grill! Tons of yard games and board games. Bring your own rafts and kayaks- not great swimming but space to sit your chairs in the water and dock is perfect for fishing. We recommend water shoes for the rocky shore. We spent lots of time floating! I would not recommend this place for small children. Our older kids were completely thrilled with the triple decker bunks! Super space for the seven of us. Nice to have two toilets, full size shower and three bathroom sinks! Comfortable, quiet and welcoming.
We very much enjoyed our stay on the property. The kids enjoyed the three bunk beds in the one bedroom, including the very top one which looks out a glass window over the hallway above the bedroom door. The bedrooms are small, but were sufficient for our needs. The property was only a couple of miles from the beautiful Island Line bicycle trail to Burlington which we rode one day. We also took the ferry across to New York and visited Ausable Chasm from the house. The house has a good view of the lake from the living room. We watched a fisherman in a boat catch a large bass from just off the dock behind the house. The kitchen had no dishwasher, but otherwise had sufficient cookware, place settings, and utensils for preparing meals. We would stay here again, if returning to the area.
Comfortable and rustic lake welcome retreat with great sunset view.
We loved our stay as a family reunion and found a bit dated but charming and roomy lakeside property as welcoming with many thoughtful touches and comfortable furniture. The AC was effective, but was difficult to cool the place down without the obligatory fans to try to cool heating from afternoon sun beaming in from the architecturally stunning glass windows that on the down side leave no shades to keep out the sun.
The place otherwise had great amenities for a family hanging out.
The host was responsive and promised to look into fixing a brief leak when a storm rolled by from the roof.
Otherwise, I absolutely love this place, and our stay.
My suggestion to make this place better
1. Better shades and fix some screens
2. Of course fixi a leaky roof or window casing.
Exactly what we’re looking for and needed for our long weekend! The house is charming and clean and we loved sitting out on the porch for cocktails. Also enjoyed exploring the local state parks.
