Bear Paw Vacation home is located in a wooded area 4 miles north Aura, a Finnish farming community and at the edge of the Huron Mountains. Back roads and logging trails dot the area for interesting hiking, mountain biking, and riding adventures on your ATV. Hikers might like to climb Mt. Arvon, the highest point in Michigan and enjoy the scenic view. The trail is marked, but you might want to pick up a map at the Tourism Bureau in L’Anse.

Nearby waterfalls, Big Eric’s Falls, Silver Falls, and the Slate River waterfalls offer year round scenic beauty. Golfers will find a 9-hole course in L’Anse and there is a casino in Baraga.

Fishing is great on Lake Superior for salmon and lake trout or on the several nearby rivers and streams for steelhead, walleye, bass, perch, and many other species of fish. There is a boat launch at the base of Huron Bay or in L’Anse and a marina nearby. There are also lots of public lands nearby for hunting small and large game.

Winter brings tons of snow to the L’Anse area and snowmobile trails are short distance from the home. Easy trail access along the shoulder of the road to the trailhead and the fun begins as you ride through this picturesque wilderness area. Take the exciting trail through the hills of the Huron Mountains to Big Bay for lunch or head down to L’Anse and over to the Bill Nicholls Trail. This trail takes you towards Ontonagon or you can ride up into the Keweenaw Peninsula.

Cross-country skiers will enjoy the 10 miles of groomed marked trails at Pinery Lake Ski Pathway near L’Anse with trails for novice to advanced skiers.
Bring your snowshoes and have some fun tromping through the deep snow in the nearby woods.

The home has a long driveway which can accommodate your boat, ORV, and snowmobile trailers. In winter driveway is plowed if over 4 inches of snow so 4x4 is recommended.

Directions: Bear Paw home is located 15 miles northeast of L’Anse. Take Skanee Road east of L’Anse for 8 miles. Turn left of Town Line Road and go 5 miles to Pt. Abbaye Road. Turn right and go 2 miles to Ravenswood.
