The Gipson House was established in 1930 by the family of Mrs Gertrude Gipson. Mrs Gertrude and her family owned and operated a small grocery store in the pelham/Mtn View community for many years.

This store is now Patti’s Patch floral shop. Her beautiful craftsman style home beside the store is now the Gipson House Airbnb.

The house is fully restored and close to area attractions including the Caverns music venue, the University of the South, and world class hiking in the South Cumberland and Savage Gulf natural areas, Tim’s Ford Lake and the Mountain Goat Trail
are also popular destinations.

Time to exhale and absorb the peace

Where do I begin, this was a beautiful, cozy, refuge from the hustle bustle of the city. The hosts made every effort to make us feel welcome. Every amenity was not only available, but also highly organized and easy to find. Slept very comfortably also, and that’s not always easy away from home. Highly Recommended.

This is a wonderful place to stay for those wanting to get out of the city. Owners were nice and attentive. House was clean and we didn’t have to want for anything. I’d definitely go back.

Great spot in a perfect location!

We rented this house to stay in for a show at The Caverns, which is right up the road. It met and exceeded all expectations with its set up and friendly little snack perks! Owner communication is just about the best I have ever experienced with VRBO rentals. Highly recommend!

Owners Troy and Patti Layne.
Troy is recently retired from a large corporation and Patti is the owner of Patti’s Patch floral shop located beside the Gipson House.

Why they chose this property

The Layne’s purchased this property from the Rieder family after a long standing business relationship with them. Patti has operated her floral shop in the pelham/ Mtn view community for 17 years. We spent the last year updating The craftsman style home home located on the property and are now proud to make it available to the public. Mrs Gertrude Gipson owned and operated a grocery store in the building that now houses Patti’s Patch for many years and lived in the house that is now the Gipson House.

What makes this property unique

We think you’ll enjoy the blend of modern conveniences coupled with the historic elements still left in the house. To name a few you’ll find heart pine floors from 1930 and the original tongue and groove ceilings most of the house. We’ve added all the essentials for a modern day vacation such as WiFi, updated appliances, fiber optic television, etc. Outside you can enjoy a cozy front porch to watch the traffic go by or a flagstone patio around back for grilling or a fire pit. Many local attractions as well including the Caverns, golf courses, several lakes for boating and fishing and world class hiking trails.
