The Space:
As you drive up to Windy Pines Retreat you'll immediately notice it's picturesque setting, surrounded by tall pines. This stately mountain lodge style home exudes rustic charm with it's wood and stone accents and embraces nature with great outdoor decks and spaces to take advantage of it's quiet surroundings. There is an upper level parking area to the front and a side driveway on the right side of the property with plenty of parking space, easily accessed from the paved road. From the upper parking area, there are 10 steps down then 5 steps up to the front deck. From the side driveway there are 14 steps up to the main deck. From the front deck there is 1 step up to enter.
Once you walk thru the front door the great room has towering vaulted ceilings and a wall of windows with views of the treetops and big blue skies. Featuring all new mountain chic décor and furnishings, decorator paint, big comfy sofas and chairs, a stone hearth wood burning fireplace, and big screen TV, This gathering space is the perfect setting for entertaining family and friends for movie night or getting together to watch the big game!
From the living room the floorplan flows nicely into the dining area with a all new table that seats up to 6, and matching buffet for extra serving space. Large windows and the sliding glass door bring in lots of natural light and views of the canyon and tall ponderosas. You'll love stepping outside onto the covered deck. The bistro table offers a great spot to sit back and relax as you sip your morning coffee. Tall pines surround the property and deer and elk are frequent visitors. The decks wrap around to the side of the house there are 3 steps up to another inviting area with large outdoor sectional and chairs. It's an ideal space to relax after a long day of shopping or golf or hanging out with family and friends In the evenings as you sit back and be amazed by the countless stars in the night sky. There's also a propane heater so you can enjoy the outdoors most of the year!
Back inside, the eat-in kitchen features lots of counter space for prep and serving and has seating for 3. All new appliances include a french door refrigerator, electric range with oven, dishwasher, and microwave. The kitchen is stocked with a drip coffee maker and just about everything you'll need to prepare meals, just bring the groceries and stock up the pantry! An exterior door in the kitchen leads out to a covered porch where you'll find the propane gas grill, ready for burgers and steaks!
Immediately to left of the front foyer is the laundry room with washer and dryer. The Primary Bedroom is just beyond, offering a quiet space to unwind and relax in cozy comfort. All new furnishings include beautiful white washed pine furniture and beautiful quilted bedding, large windows with tree views, TV, ceiling fan, and nice sized closet space. The private bath has also been updated with attractive décor and fresh decorator paint, large marble vanity with plenty of space and shower/ tub combo. An exterior door leads out to a covered porch with seating. On the other end of the porch is the door that leads to the kitchen, pretty handy for grabbing a cup of coffee before starting another day of adventures.
From the foyer, 14 steps lead up to the loft area and 2 more bedrooms. Both bedrooms are spacious with soaring vaulted ceilings and windows that reach for the clouds Each bedroom has been updated with all new furniture and bedding. queen size beds, TVs, ceiling fans and plenty of closet space! The mountain chic décor makes these spaces so inviting and cozy your family and guests won't want to leave! A full bath is accessed from the hallway and include a handsomely updated space with vanity sink and shower/ tub combo and also connects to the 3rd bedroom.
Windy Pines Retreat has central heat and A/C for your comfort, The thermostat is in the living room behind the sofa table. There is a wood burning fireplace in the living room. There is free Wifi and all TVs have TDS cable service.
Guest Access:
SELF CHECK IN: Access codes for the remote lock are EMAILED to the reservation holder w/in 24 hours of arrival. Be sure to complete your guest check in form after booking and provide your email address and contact phone.
DIRECTIONS AND CHECK IN INSTRUCTIONS: For the privacy of any staying guest, physical addresses are not provided until booking and confirmation is complete. .
DIGITAL GUESTBOOK: Directions, check in instructions, and everything you'll need to know are available provided in the digital guestbook! The link is sent via email after booking and completing your check in form. We'll also send via SMS text message prior to arrival.
ACCESSING THE HOUSE: The driveway up to the house is gravel with a slight decline then level. There are steps down to the front porch and entry to the house is through the front door. Guests have full access of the home except for any locked doors and the garage which are for owner's access only.

Alto Lakes Golf and Country Club is a private golf community with sprawling vistas, lush pine forest, and breathtaking mountain and canyon views. The Country Club Community is extremely quiet and noise ordinances are strictly enforced. Please be respectful of the quite enjoyment of your neighbors as sound carries in the canyons.
While Alto provides visitors and residents that "away from it all" feeling, we are conveniently located just 1 mile from the turn off to Ski Apache and Ruidoso Winter Park, 2 miles from Alto Lake, and 12 miles from Ruidoso's bustling Midtown and Grindstone Lake.
Lincoln County is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts with great golf, live horseracing in summer months, and dozens of trails open year round for hiking and biking.
Step back in history and take a tour of Billy the Kid's stomping grounds on the Billy the Kid Scenic Byway or take a day trip to nearby White Sands National Park and other great state parks! From mountain peaks to the desert basin, we have it all!
Getting Around:
Driving access is generally easy to moderate and all roads in the Country Club are paved. Some areas around Ruidoso and Alto are hilly to mountainous but generally easy to get around year round. During winter months, guests are encouraged to have access to 4-wheel drive and/or snow chains in the event of a major winter weather event. To check road conditions before and during your travels go to www.nmroads.com. For extended stays, travel insurance is always recommended.
