Nestled just steps from the Acadia Gateway Center, our recently updated cottage offers a peaceful retreat just a few minutes off Mount Desert Island. Fire up the grill, indulge in fresh lobster feasts, and create unforgettable moments with loved ones. With easy access to Island Explorer shuttles and nearby trails, exploring Acadia National Park is a breeze. Pack your bikes, hiking boots, and appetite, and let Maine's wonders unfold before you!
We allow up to two pets for an additional fee (see house rules). No cats. additional $20 per/night pet fee. Furniture must remain covered and pets are not allowed on the beds, unless you bring your own linens.
The Space The home features a master bedroom upstairs with a large balcony and an additional bedroom downstairs. There is also a very comfortable queen-sized sleeper sofa in the front sitting room for additional guests (up to six total). The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you should need for your stay, from a lobster pot to a crockpot. There is a great outdoor area to enjoy meals, grill, let your pups run, or have a campfire after a long day of hiking.
Guest Access The whole house is yours except for the upstairs closet.
Other Things to Note Both TVs are smart TVs and allow you to stream using your own accounts (Netflix, HBO Now, Spectrum, etc.). We have high-speed WiFi, and the password is written on the check-in sheet inside the home. There should be no issues working remotely from the house if needed.
The water is safe to drink but does have a slight sulfur smell. If this bothers you, you may want to bring bottled water. Please note that the hot and cold water are reversed in the bathroom sink and shower.
We allow dogs at this property and take the utmost care to clean thoroughly between stays, including removing pet hair. However, occasional stray hairs may be left behind. If there are ever any issues, please reach out to me.
The upstairs bedroom does not have a door. However, it is still very private — you cannot see into the space until you are fully up the stairs. The master bedroom is the only room on the upper floor.
Neighborhood overview: Trenton sits between Mount Desert Island and Ellsworth. It allows for quick and easy access the Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park (15 minutes or so), or the other adorable towns scattered along the island. Had a great relaxing long weekend. The house was perfect for our needs and had everything you could possibly need. The hot tub was awesome for the snowy days we had after hiking. The host was super responsive to any of our questions and needs. We will certainly be making another trip out there

The Acadian Gateway House has everything we needed for a comfortable vacation. Nice and private location. Great to have a full kitchen to cook a homemade meal after a long day of exploring Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor.
Great location and easy to follow instructions! We loved the hot tub - it was very welcome after a day of hiking in Acadia. Well stocked and equipped kitchen. Shower was tight but functional and the beds were comfortable!
We stayed at this property in the beginning of September. The property was perfect for relaxing after a long day of hiking in Acadia national Park. The kitchen was well equipped. The hot tub was a pleasant surprise! The property is close to everything would want to do in that area. Would definitely stay here again!
Cute home with easy access to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Host was responsive to our needs and followed up with us.

So glad you enjoyed your stay!
Happy to help, with the extra cooling on the weird extra hot days (usually it’s not so hot here 😅) glad the extra fans and ac did the trick the night of your arrival!
Happy traveling Linda!
Property was as expected & clean and the owner was responsive to us during our stay. Just far enough away from the hustle of Bar Harbor yet close enough to visit & appreciate the small village. Acadia National Park wS our main destination & didn't disappoint!
It was lovely to have such a comfortable home to go to after spending amazing but tiring days at Acadia. Plenty of space for us to stretch out, cook some quick meals and exhale. Thank you so much for the hospitality.
The house was exactly what was listed. It was very clean and comfortable for our whole family. The property is in close proximity to all the tourist areas. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely book again in the future!!
My twins and I had an amazing time! The house was spotless and has incredible artwork throughout. We enjoyed going out and having lobster dinner and marshmallows by the fire at home. We are so grateful for the hospitality and time spent together there.
We loved staying at this property. We saw more wildlife on this property than we did in all of Acadia. It was 20ish minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia was on the way there. The lobster pounds nearby were delicious and it was a nice and private location. Mature trees and tall field grass separated the house from the busy road. Host was friendly and accessible.
We had a great weekend visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia, while staying at this property. The house was bigger than what the pictures show. The air condition g unit upstairs is very loud, but we were so tired from hiking all day, that we slept through it. The bathroom is small, but it was clean.
House is as described! Pictures accurate. We enjoyed the surprise of the hot tub, which we were not expecting. Our dog enjoyed the backyard. Fire pit made for a great cool night activity. Upstairs is open to downstairs with no door, but that did not bother us. We used the pull out couch for children who did not complain about it so I assume it was comfortable. Chairs by firepit may need to be replaced soon as they did not seem very sturdy but held us just fine. Lots of bugs in the backyard, be prepared for that, at least in mid-June. Overall great stay.
This was the perfect little spot for our weekend in Bar Harbor and Acadia! Everything was a 15-20 min drive. The house was set back off the main road but you can still hear the busy traffic at times. My only complaint is that the shower was TINY and there is no where to put your shampoo, soap, etc in the shower itself.
Easy access to the park. Great location. Large washing machine was great. Hot tub was a nice surprise. Lots of room to spread out. The loft was great for our kids. No dishwasher. Water has a hydrogen sulfide smell. The bathroom is very small and shower is very tiny. There were several cobwebs and spiders in the shower/bathroom. There are several "holes" in the house where the door isn't square or the trim doesn't cover the drywall or the flooring doesn't meet the wall. That made it feel not great especially with the spiders.
This property was extremely nice and the property was even nicer than the photos showed. The kitchen was well stocked (there was even a crockpot!), the washer/dryer were huge, the dining room sat all 6 of us with ease, and the fire pit/large back yard was fun to play at. Everything was provided - shampoo/conditioner, laundry soap, garbage bags, etc. We drove into Acadia every day - it was worth the extra drive to have a nice home to come back to! The only struggle for a family our size was that the bathroom was small and there was only one, BUT the bathroom was very well decorated and the shower was fantastic. My wish for the place would be newer towels (they looked very worn) and a griddle in the kitchen. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We loved our time at this property! So much room and perfectly clean. It was great to feel so secluded and still close to everything we wanted to do. The backyard and top deck are gamechangers for a morning coffee or letting pups run around. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking during the week. Lastly, the property owners were incredibly nice, responsive, and flexible. Will be coming back soon!
This is a very nice and private property with location fitting folks who wants to be able to visit both bar harbor and schoodic peninsula. There are quite a few lobster theme restaurant nearby and also a couple of supermarket. The house looks exactly like the listing. My family and I will be staying here again!
