About this property

Secluded Cabin minutes from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

Location:
The Pines is located on the north coast of Mt. Desert Island, also known as Frenchman Bay. The cabin is only seven minutes (2.5 miles) from the Acadia National Park visitor center and 13 minutes (5 miles) from Bar Harbor. There are fun and safe bicycle routes to the park and town. This secluded cabin is nestled in pine trees and is 100 yards away from its sister cabin, the Guest House VRBO# 887888. The property has a communal deck with a picnic table that overlooks the bay. The sunrise and sunsets are amazing. Watch lobster boats in the morning.

Note that this is an uninsulated cabin. Which means that if it gets chilly outside - it'll get chilly inside by morning. The wood stove makes great heat. There are also two space heaters and we supply electric blankets.

The Pines has a sister cabin, the Guest House VRBO# 887888

Why Us:
This is a peaceful and quiet retreat. We've been renting The Pines and its sister cabin, The Guest House, for over 40 years. It’s an ideal spot for couples or families, and we make it easy to bring your pets. As pet owners ourselves, we understand how important it is to have them with you—so feel free to bring yours!

We rent from Saturday to Saturday.

The property has a second cabin on it 100 yards down the hill and a house a further 50 yards beyond that.

My mom and dad started vacationing at Baycliff over 50 years ago. At that time we’d drive up from New Jersey (Metuchen, exit 10) and spend two weeks. I remember going deep sea fishing, hiking, sight seeing and all the other touristy things. Though I think my favorite activity was skipping rocks into the sea. Not that easy with waves and wind. In 1973 the property went up for sale and my dad immediately purchased it. Then we started staying a month at a time in the main house, which, back then, wasn’t much larger than the cabins. One year we brought up all seven of our cats and a raccoon that I was fostering! We’ve been renting the two cabins for over 40 years now years now. The above picture is myself, my two daughters and my mom, who has been taking care of the cabins during the summer. Mt. Desert Island features may attractions. If you ride a bicycle, the carriage roads are amazing! If you like to hike, the hiking trails are amazing! If you like to bird, we have humming birds and warblers! There are also some very good restaurants in Bar Harbor and elsewhere on the island. This really is a wonderful place.

Why they chose this property

Baycliff will destress you. I don’t know if it’s the quiet, the ocean, the cool clean air, the wind through the trees or the sounds of nature, but it will relax you.
