We had a great stay! We were not far from some trails to hike and enjoyed a couple dog parks and downtown wandering in nearby towns. Host communicated well.
Just the perfect size for two. Tucked away just enough to be private but Salida is easilu accessible for whatever you need. The cabin's kitchen is fully stocked, by far the best we've seen. Most of all, the bed is
We really enjoyed our time here, we only spent one night but it was lovely. The kitchen is well stocked and everything was clean and organized.

Road so close to property
The cabin itself is nice, has everything you might need. Sleeping, however, was a challenge. The road is so close to the property and because it was warm in the bedroom that is upstairs, we had to open the window and the traffic was so loud.
Everything was good except there was road noise from Monarch pass - the road is very close to the back of the cabin. Bring ear plugs but otherwise very nice.
Very comfortable cabin. Kitchen is well equipped. We could see the starts at night through the bedroom window. King bed is very comfortable. Lots of fresh powder. Roads maintenance was excellent getting up the pass after snow fall. Great communication with agent. Would highly recommend.
Wonderful property and a great location. Cabin had everything we needed and more- laundry is a plus when packing lots of layers. Enjoyed hanging out, eating, and morning yoga on the deck. Great base camp for daily area hikes. Boss/Hunt Lake was our favorite and only a short drive away. Debated over staying here vs in Salida downtown and SO glad did it this way! Salida has a lot to offer but we ate here first for nature and we were happy to retreat back to the quiet and cooler temp/higher altitude. Can’t wait to return!
I am always looking for a safe, clean, stocked place for our mini getaways. Naturally location and budget are also a huge factor. This ticked the boxes. Minutes from Monarch Mountain, 15 mins from Salidas cute historic street. Kitchen stocked. Quiet neighborhood. Recommend!
This property is ideally located only 5 minutes from Monarch Mountain. I highly suggest ensuring your initial arrival is during daylight, as it's complicated to find in the dark, in the snow and ice. Once you figure out it's easy, make sure you follow the local directions provided.
The kitchen was nicely updated, and the space was perfect for the 3 of us. We would stay there again when we ski Monarch.
If you want to be in the mountains, this is the place. Cute hideaway for me and hubby, we had everything we needed and the host responded quickly when we had a question. I only gave the check in process 3 stars because it has a digital or smart lock, we were not familiar with how to use it and it took some time to get in. I would definitely come back though! Beautiful mountain scenery.
Booked this property for a quick weekend away from the city and wasn’t disappointed. We were able to see the autumn colors, experience the first snow of the year and enjoy some hikes and walks in the area.
The cabin was cozy and a perfect size for 2 people. We didn’t cook but there is ample space in the kitchen if someone wanted to. The stairs were a bit steep but there is a light switch next to the bedroom that provides a small light for you to see enough to navigate them without issue.
I had thought the cabin overlooked a stream however that is across the street and not something we were able to really see, although we could hear it and did enjoy that.
The drive to either Monarch Pass (5 minutes) or to Poncha Springs or Salida goes quick. Salida definitely has more options for food so would suggest driving the extra 5 minutes from Poncha Springs.
There are several trailheads nearby so can see ourselves going back to take advantage of those in the future.

Dirty and Broken
My stay here started with a dirty, hairy bathtub and shower. Dog covered throw blankets, broken microwave and pellet stove.
The description of the property was exactly as listed. The bed was extremely comfortable. We didn’t have any trouble streaming on both tvs. Overall positive experience! The only thing that gave us any grief was that the front door sometimes wouldn’t latch to shut properly.
My husband and I stayed here over New Years - very homey and well cared for place. Would be perfect for a couple or small family. Everything was as described. I appreciated the little touches - stocked wood pellet stove, board games, a yoga mat, basic sugar/spices, a shovel (which we needed as it snowed a bunch!). Communication was easy and professional. If arriving in snow, 4wd is definitely useful for parking on the steep drive and for the unplowed top of the road at the turn off from 50.
We loved this cabin! It was clean and tidy and had pretty much all we needed to cook with. We made tasty meals on the grill outside and enjoyed relaxing with beautiful views on the private deck. The bed was very comfy, and we enjoyed relaxing on the couch. We didnt need anything during our stay, but the property management company reached out when we checked in to give us a quick way to reach out for anything. It did get a little warm during the day without AC, and it would be handy to have a dumpster closer to the cabin. Other than that, we loved our stay and would stay again!
I’ve never given a poor review of any property, however this experience was not a good one. The location was not great or safe and the response of the owners and company to an incident that occurred on their property was disappointing.Booked for Thursday-Sunday so we could go skiing at Monarch. Woke up Saturday morning to head to the slopes and our gas tank of our truck was empty. Someone had drilled a hole in the gas tank, taken what gas they could, and the rest ran down the driveway and into the street. The only response by the rental company was a referral to 2 closed mechanics on a Saturday and an owner who stated they didn’t see anyone on the cameras. The camera catches the front street, not where the driveway can clearly been accessed from the back. This was clearly done by an individual while we were parked in the designated parking spot, and the remainder of the gas could be seen going out into the road. A hole was drilled in the tank so we couldn’t just fill it up again, and needed it fixed. My boyfriend is handy made something temporary enough to get us back to the Springs without towing like the Chevy dealership in town suggested. We missed that morning skiing and went back a day early to get this dealt with. I informed the host we would be leaving around 2 on Saturday instead of the originally planned and paid for Sunday and received absolutely no response. So I paid for a night we didn’t stay, missed 2 days of ski passes paid for, and didn’t get even a response
