This beautiful, authentic log cabin is on a working Angus cattle ranch. Immerse yourself in a rustic world of horses, cattle, and real cowboys on this authentic slice of Colorado agriculture. With over 300 acres, seclusion is not a problem, making for great wildlife viewing. The cabin is adjacent to the South Arkansas River, and features a mile of river frontage; fishing is an angler's dream. We also have a nice pond with a cozy swing on the shore.

The property borders BLM land and lends itself to great hiking. Monarch Ski Resort is a mere 20 minutes away. Six miles to the east is the town of Salida, Colorado, where you will find many nice restaurants, shops, galleries, museums, and more. Recently, it was used for a location in a feature film.

Amenities include a washer/dryer, electric range, microwave oven, dishwasher, refrigerator (with ice maker), pellet stove and in-floor radiant heat. WiFi has recently been added.

The interior is decorated in a charming western theme, featuring log furniture, wildlife light-switch covers, and artistic hand-finished wood highlights on the cabinets and furniture. The spacious floor plan includes 2 bedrooms with loft, 1 1/2 bathrooms, and living area with 32" HD TV with DVD player and satellite TV. The cabin sleeps up to 9 comfortably.

Mountain views can be found in all directions. The wrap-around deck is a great way to relax and drink in the scenery. We also offer an outside BBQ grill and an authentic outdoor fire pit. Remember us for your next romantic getaway, small corporate refresher, or family gathering. Rates $205/night for groups of 2 or less, with a $20 fee per-night, per-person for each guest over 2.

Ski Vacation

The cabin and property are beautiful and convenient to Salida and Monarch Mountain. We had plenty of room for our group and the cabin was well supplied. We would definitely stay here again and I hope to return this summer to fish and hike.

Quiet, Secluded, Wonderful Views

Very nice cabin on working cattle ranch. Wonderful view of mountains from back porch. Enjoyed walking around the ranch amongst the cows and horses. Owners were very nice and accommodating. Enjoyed our stay.

SPECTACULAR PLACE!!!

Dean was a perfect host and went above and beyond our expectations! This cabin was a cozy, beautiful, and a well stocked get-away for my boyfriend's birthday weekend! We picked that location because it was nearby for skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing at Monarch.Beds were comfortable, gorgeous views, everything was perfect! **We will 100% be staying there again!**

Great Family Get Away

Great experience amd we will stay here again. The boys enjoyed having the river so close to fish and the cabin had everything we needed. The only downside were the dead bugs in the loft which we know will happen in the summer in the mountains, so were fine. Dean was a great host and made every part of the process easy.

The communication and greeting was spot on. What a “perfect” place for family trip or a week get away with the wife. Location is 10-15 min from everything so just far enough away but close enough you didn’t feel like you were always running for things. Will be back’

Awesome cabin

I was a little worried about no A/C being from KY. But we never needed one and it was in the low 90s . It was breezy all week and cool inside. Made friends with the horses on the ranch very tame and loved being rubbed. Dean was awesome to talk too. Would highly recommend this cabin.

We are Dean and Dana Roberts, two lifelong ranchers. Our ranch is working Angus cattle ranch. We love the western cowboy lifestyle and know that you will enjoy your stay at our out of the way cabin.

Why they chose this property

We built the cabin as a private getaway for our family and friends, just a short ways from our ranch home. Our visitors enjoyed it so much that we decided to invite more or our "friends" to join us at the Post Office Ranch Cabin. The Post Office ranch is built around one of the original post offices in the valley.

What makes this property unique

The Post Office Ranch is located just off Hwy 50 on well maintained gravel roads. The cabin is remote and quiet, yet convenient to Salida and Monarch Ski Resort. The South Arkansas River is just a short walk from your deck. We know that any angler will enjoy the private fishing on over a mile of cottonwood lined mountain stream. Just across the river is BLM land, ready to explore.
