We enjoyed our stay very much. We were there over the Christmas holidays. The house has spectacular views of the intersection of the Merrimack River and the Ocean with large windows and balcony and porch. The living area (kitchen, dining, living room) is combined into a great room which is on the second floor along with a half bath. This meant socializing was easy and the views amazing. The 3 bedrooms are on floor one. The house was clean and is fairly new. It has a 2-zone heating system that worked well even when it was very cold (under 32 degrees). The kitchen is well stocked with appliances (toaster, electric teakettle, keurig coffee maker, etc. ) and dishes. Walks along the beach are nice and there is a nearby playground. It was very quiet.
We had the best time at this property! The house is gorgeous with nice modern touches and beautiful ocean views from many rooms. It was very clean and stocked nicely with linens, dishes, pots and pans, etc. All appliances worked well and the house and yard are well kept and in very good condition. There was plenty of space for all of us and the decks were fantastic for catching the incredible sunsets.
The location cannot be topped. It's a 4 minute walk to the beach which is not crowded due to the limited public parking options. The only downside is that it's not safe to really swim in the water at this beach due to the dangerous currents (Merrimack River meets Atlantic Ocean) but you can certainly wade in the water and keep cool - just be careful! It's also about a 10 minute drive into town with all the shops, restaurants, etc. PERFECT location.
This home was the perfect getaway for our days at the beach. The home is on a quiet street in a peaceful neighborhood. Check-in and communication with the host/owners was great. The home is well appointed with everything you need, is decorated well and very, very clean. Beds were comfy and everything worked perfectly. It is a very short walk to the beach - just a couple houses down there is a path through the vegetation straight to the beach. The outdoor shower was handy to rinse sand off and the patio was great for morning coffee and evening cocktails. Grocery stores not too far away but there are also a couple small provision stores on the island for convenience. Would highly recommend this home and we would definitely book again if ever back in the area!
This home is lovely- everything one would want for a relaxing vacation. The location is perfect- views of boats going in and out of the mouth of Merrimack while also having an ocean view. The week we were there was so hot so upper deck was steamy during day but beautiful in evening. The lower deck is shaded and great for times when upper deck is too warm. The house itself is thoughtfully decorated and very relaxing - it is set up so that you don't feel like you are living in someone else's space. As we are actively searching for a beach property, we took this vacation to see if Plum Island was the right location for us. We left feeling it was 100% yes. Friendly people, quiet streets, great walking/biking routes. Close to Newburyport for dinner or shopping- just wonderful.
Pretty house, nice view of the ocean and Merrimack mouth, direct access to the beach. Sparsely equipped for cooking and entertaining, so if you're planning more than casual meals for a small group, suggest you bring your own equipment, wine glasses, games, etc. Note: Those pretty white counters require extra care to avoid stains. Owners are responsive, but say it's rented infrequently, mostly in summer for beach activities. A notebook binder with property instructions, especially on the door lock operation is recommended. Newburyport, about 10 minutes drive, is a charming coastal town.
We had an amazing stay on Plum Island at the property, and great communication with the owners. This location provided wonderful views, and a VERY quiet, peaceful location, with easy walk to the beach. Also - proximity to Newburyport downtown (15 minute drive) was excellent to be able to do some great shopping and experience the Yankee Homecoming Festival that occurred during the week we stayed! Again, highly recommend this property for your stay, and Plum Island was a great new place to stay for us!
Lovely beach days for family and friends . Central air was a lovely feature after hot and humid conditions this week. The space is very well laid-out and welcoming
Beautiful home with a 2nd floor deck that was the go to location in the morning for coffee and at night for drinks. You can see a beautiful sunrise and sunset from the deck each day. The rest of the time you can watch all the boats sailing by. Very relaxing.
We loved this house - Very clean, super easy check in process, quiet / friendly area, great views from upper deck, good size for what we needed, etc. The only downsides were the queen bed in the extra bedroom squeaked a lot (with the tiniest of movements) and the floor beds squeaked a lot which would have been fine, but the bedrooms are downstairs. My recommendation would be to bring a sound machine if you’re a light sleeper. Thank you to the hosts for listing a great home on Plum Island.
This beautiful home was a perfect size for our family of 4. We had 7 beautiful sunny days relaxing at the beach, riding bikes on the nearby trails, enjoying the sunsets from the roof deck, and exploring the island and Newburyport. So fun!
The property is very welcoming with minimalist, "generic" but good taste appointments. You're not made to feel like you're staying in someone else's house. I could spend all day on the veranda. The beach is a half block away, across the dune. A half block in the other direction is a small playground. Serious grocery shopping is not nearby, however. It's a 10-15 minute drive, depending where you go. And for serious restaurants you have to go into Newburyport - less than 10 minutes away. Inversely, it is quiet and you almost have the whole beach to yourself. We hope to go back!
We enjoyed our stay over Christmas. The beach house is beautiful and well located!
The beach house is well stocked and well maintained. Other than Google Maps leading us astray and us trying to enter a neighbor’s house in the dark, everything was great! One suggestion would be to set the Nest thermostat to a comfortable temperature just before check in. I believe this can be done remotely.
Our family loved our time at the beach house! Views of the ocean and the dunes from nearly every window! The sunrises and sunsets from the deck were beautiful! It is just a short stroll to the beach where we spent nearly everyday! The open concept living area was perfect for our family to gather. The house is very nicely decorated with every amenity needed. We loved the outdoor shower coming off the beach! Spent some time in Newburyport for Yankee Home Coming which was super fun! Anthony was a pleasure to deal with and available to answer any question we had! Would highly recommend staying and we will certainly go back!
Amazing property and location! The house is beautiful, spacious and filled with light. Almost every room offers stunning views of the Atlantic. The location is fantastic on a quiet side street and just steps away from several beach access points. This is truly a special property.
Five family members, including four adults and one teen, enjoyed a week at this Plum Island location. The two-story house was clean, had a beautiful view of the water, and was easy to locate. The living area is on second floor, so would not be handicapped accessible. We had two vehicles and were able to park easily though we had to manuever a bit to get out into the very narrow street in front of the home. We cooked many meals during the week and found the appliances were fine, and kitchen pots, pans and dishes adequate. There was no coffee maker, the only real issue we had. We washed towels using washing machine and dryer and appreciated the convenience. The three bedrooms were perfect for us but a larger family might find the bedroom space confining. TV and wi-fi were good; two adults were working from there off and on during the week without difficulty. The beach is within easy walking distance from the house though not accessible directly across the street. No swimming is allowed on the near beach area. We walked a bit further to a spot down the street on the ocean. As of June 2020 we were able to eat in nice restaurants in the area with no problem except many places were closed on Mondays and some on Tuesdays. Ask for assistance/information on how to lock the front door ahead of time. Thanks to owner Anthony for being available and answering questions for us several times.
