The Lake Escape is a charming getaway nestled adjacent to Tygart Lake State Park: a retreat that offers year 'round opportunities. This cottage is private yet steps away from the features of the park. Our property is situated just 0.8 mi from the Lake Marina, 0.4 mi from the swimming area, 3 mi from the Lodge Restaurant, and adjacent to hiking, biking, picnic areas and playground. Whether you are looking for peace and relaxation or prefer outdoor adventure the Lake Escape welcomes you.

Being a remote location, the house has water supplied by a well which can at times have a sulfur smell to it. For those who are used to public water this may be unfamiliar. It is safe and there is a large water dispenser and water supplied for drinking for those that prefer.

Great Place

We had a great time at the lake and the house was the perfect place to stay at. Great location being so close to the marina and the nature center that our kids enjoyed during a chilly morning before going out on the lake. Very friendly owner, very clean, no complaints across the board. We will be looking to rent this house again.

Excellent amenities, wonderful owner, clean linens and towels smelled great!!! Great quiet environment to create some amazing music. Honestly probably the best home we have stayed in that had so much supplies such as paper plates, napkins, paper towels, games, videos, etc!!! No complaints. Highly recommend

SUPERB!!!

This was a fabulous place!! Everything about it was wonderful!! The cabin was fully and completely appointed and we could have asked for nothing!! The owner was informative and kept us apprised of local activities, shopping, restaurants, etc. I would recommend this property for anyone looking for a quiet getaway in a beautiful setting.

The cabin is spacious and in a very quiet area. Checked out the state parks around the area which are all within an hour’s drive. Beautiful scenery! Would return to the cabin for a campfire in the evenings. The cabin had all the amenities needed. The hosts were great at getting back to me regarding questions or when I got lost getting to the lake house. Loved our stay. The title says it all about this place!

Nature lovers house

The house is even nicer than the pictures. Very quiet and private, clean and comfortable. Loved watching the wildlife (deer, turkey, woodchucks, owls, chipmunks...) from the floor to ceiling windows in the great room, and from the wraparound deck. The Ridge Trail is literally in the backyard. Host is very accessible.

The house was very quiet and comfortable and very well stocked with nice utensils My wife and I very much enjoyed the accommodations. Brian was very informative and helpful. All of the extras such as popcorn and candy were especially nice touches! Thanks again Brian.

Goodvacation rental

The cabin was clean,well stocked.Plenty of space ,nice and open.The deck was roomy there was 5 adults and 3 children plenty of room .There was well water but host provided spring water thru a water cooler for drinking and cooking this was a unexpected plus.Host also came by and changed out grill tank without me having to call,the last rental we were at i had to go get my propane tank myself.I highly recomend this rental.

The house was very nice, clean, and came w all the amenities of home. The host was very responsive and helpful as well. The only complaint out of our group was the well water had a bad sulfuric smell to it. The host did have a fresh clean drinking water dispenser with multiple refill jugs on site so it wasnt really an issue. Like i mentioned that was our only complaint. Otherwise the place was a great place to stay close to the lake and we will definitely come back.

We had a great time here. Well stocked, had everything we needed. Lots of room inside and out, enjoyed the fire pit. Tygart lake lodge had good food. Valley falls was a great place to visit. Would definitely go back.

Christmas Family Gathering

Location is centrally located for gathering for a family Christmas. House was decorated for the holiday. Ready for us to enjoy. Owner quickly answers to any concerns. We had a wind storm and power went out. This is the second time we have used this house and we love it. House has everything to put together a family dinner and the room to enjoy the company.

As avid travelers we have had the opportunity to see many parts of the world, but as lifelong residents of West Virginia we have found Tygart Lake one of our favorite spots for relaxing getaways, out of mainstream and full of adventurous opportunities. Our enjoyment of this area is what we want to share with you.

Why they chose this property

Lake Escape is very unique to Tygart Lake as it is one of a very limited number of properties that lies within steps of the State Park, as close as you can be to the amenities offered by Tygart Lake.
Lake Escape offers the shortest walk to the Swim Park (4min) and Marina (15min) of any dwelling near Tygart Lake. Multiple hiking trails are within a few hundred yards of the door.
The property is secluded in a wooded setting with lots of wildlife and privacy, and yet just a few hundred yards from the park road, nature center, and large play ground.
The lake road is an amazing, shaded, level road for exercise and recreation.
