A Fairy Tale
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this magical home on quaint Sawyers Island. We felt as if we went back in time with kids running around the lawn, kayaking and spotting harbor seals and stunning sunsets. The sunroom and enclosed porch were so peaceful. George was wonderful to work with and all of the neighbors were exceptionally friendly. We look forward to visiting again next year.
Thanks so much for your kind comments. George
Perfect Coast of Maine Vacation Home
The house and property are absolutely amazing, I don't think it could possibly be more comfortable or enjoyable! We had a small wedding there - it was a perfect setting. George takes fantastic care of the property and was very accommodating, we will definitely return. Thanks George!
Bright and Cheerful
We lost 3 members of our family in the last year. My adult children and I needed a place together to recover. The house was very nice. The view spectacular. We had a very nice time.
Judy so sorry with your losses. I lost my wife on 8/14/19. I hope your stay brought comfort. Thanks for the review.
Fun family reunion
We are a family of nine and this cottage could not have been better in accommodating all of us. We loved the indoor space, the outdoor space and everything in between. Wonderful vacation!
Stunning home in a stunning location
The photos don’t do this gorgeous house justice. Everything is perfect, coordinated, and comfortable. The road is very, very private. The fire pit overlooks the ocean, the dock offers a relaxing spot to sit. Sunset off the dock or the third floor balcony is gorgeous. Plenty of grass for kids to run and play. The house is bright. Views every window you look out. It seems insane to think of a negative of this house, but the only think we would wish for is easier access to the little beach area. At low tide there is a lot of fun gathering shells and seaglass, but to get down there is difficult as the Rocks you need to climb on are steep and slick with seaweed, there really isn’t an easy way down (that didn’t stop most of us!) the back “porch” feels like a finished room. It is warm and comfortable as the rest of the house. I think there is much more space in the house than the photos show. We are already trying to justify a reason to come stay again.
Morning Star Cottage is located in the heart of the mid coast region of Maine. The area bustles with antique auctions, fairs and lobster and clam festivals all along the coast. Whether you travel north or south on Route # 1 you will marvel at New England charm at every glance. Crystal clear fresh water lakes, famous Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, and the Maine Maritime Museum are within an hour's drive from the cottage. Boothbay also boasts a first class YMCA, galleries, and of course, the freshest lobster in the world!

About George and Kathy Hervochon
George left his job on Wall Street in 1975 after picking up a newspaper left on an empty seat of his commuter train. He read about "owner-built homes training" in midcoast Maine and decided to build our home and move there with our two young daughters. We purchased 130 acres and built our home in Newcastle, which is located about 20 miles from Boothbay Harbor. Just a few months after moving into our home, a nice young couple knocked on the door and asked George if he would build them a house just like ours. He agreed and continued to build homes, under the company name of "Hervochon Construction" for the next 39 years! We have remained in the Damariscotta/Newcastle area all this time, although we moved into different houses built by my husband. George has designed and built a variety of styles to suit many clients over the years. The project he is most proud of is St. Patrick's new church in Newcastle, of which he is a member. We give God the glory for that blessing! I am a retired elementary school teacher, and George has turned the building business over to our daughter AnniPat, and our son-in-law. We stay busy with our two summer rentals, and our three grandchildren. ~Kathy Hervochon
