About Margreet or Willem Monster
I am a retired computer engineering professor who took up a new 'career' in rural Upstate NY as restorer/redeveloper of historic buildings in the Adirondack region. My wife is an architect and designer. We live on an old farm five minutes away from this rental property.
Margreet or Willem Monster purchased this Cottage in 2002
Why Margreet or Willem Monster chose Northville
This is a typical small train station built in the early 1900's resort period. The architecture of the building, its natural setting and the comfortable amenities make this a wonderful place to stay - summer, spring, fall and winter.
What makes this Cottage unique
The location along the Great Sacandaga Lake, the on-site marina where you can put your boat for the length of your stay, the walkable environment (bathing beach, golf course, tennis courts) and the history archive about Sacandaga and the resort era, are all wonderful extras. The area is private and peaceful, surrounded by trees.

Clean, roomy, fully equipped, quiet and very convenient. Super friendly for family and kids
The Station is Amazing! So much story for the house, is like a museum here. We had great times. Thank You Mr. Willem! Places is super clean and fully equipped. Only 2 mins walk to the dock, kids love the kayak, Also have small sailboat but we didn’t use. First time try Pickle ball and is very fun and easy to play, also hv basketball hoops at court. Mr. Willem is super friendly and always reply messages so quick. He also stop by to give us a basketball to use when he heard our kids want to play basketball. Thank you so much. Definitely will come back or recommend to friends.
Annual Girls Ski Weekend
Had such a great time as always at the Great Sacandaga Train Station. It is a beautiful place and an amazing piece of history. Willem and Margreet are very accommodating. Much appreciated.
We absolutely loved staying at the station! It was very clean, spacious and so rich in history! It was the perfect place to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. We hope to return in the summer when we can use the lake
You certainly looked like a happy couple sitting on the porch swing. Glad that the weather was great most of the time and the leave colors outstanding. Thank you for the visit and bring your golf clubs and/or pickleball paddle along on your next visit.
Really enjoyed the property. Every thing we needed was there. Loved playing Pickleball and Jenga and Kayaking in the lake. Hiked up Mt Spruce with the Grandson. Still sore. Would recommend to anyone.
This rental is amazing! I was looking for a handicap accessible location and this was perfect! I would absolutely return. The history of the building is really wonderful!
Thank you very much for the review and taking good care of the property. I am sorry that I left for a trip to Norway the day before you arrived. But it all worked out Great! Come visit us again. Willem.
